what’s a polite way of saying that discourse (an utterly meaningless word) around saw gererra annoys you greatly because no one is ever gonna get the nuance they want out of his character because his primary appearances are in children’s shows meaning that he’s always going to be portrayed in a negative light bc shows made for children have simple morals that can’t really account for the nuance of the necessity of far-left action and/or terrorism and also his character was made by a company that has military contracts meaning that he will also always be portrayed negatively because the concept of a radical partisan is frighting to the status quo regardless of how politically adept Andor might seem but no one ever includes that nuance when discussing his character so everyone argues in circles until the sun burns out and we all hate each other
"Anakin was manipulated by palpatine" "palpatine groomed Anakin to become his apprentice" do u ever think about how palpatine came from a planet with a history of young queens who were democratically elected, got his own massive political power with help from his sith master and not by his own merit, then took advantage of padme to achieve greater power bc he knew she'd do anything to save Naboo from the crisis he initiated?
Like obvs there's a lot of things that make palps a Bad Guy, but I just feel like crimes against Naboo, Naboo's culture and history, and padme in particular are too often overlooked. Padme was not naive, she just didn't expect the man who represented the interests of her whole planet (and 35 other planets also btw) to have organized an invasion of their shared home world. Justice for my girl
The first person to know about Cody and Obi-Wan is Hondo because he can't find Obi-Wan's space tinder profile anymore.
Just thinking about their tiny sleeping nook and Grogu’s lil hammock 😭
U can watch Star Wars so many times and it doesn’t prepare u for how dumb Star Wars is. For one thing I think we gloss over how kenobi (who has definitely been at the club. Please.) describes the mos eisley cantina as the worst most villainous place ever and then u get inside and it’s a pack of muppets vaping
such a huge fan of whatever the hell syril and dedra have going on right now in andor. syril is such a freak and dedra is just chill with it? protective over it? kinda into it? they are the cringest freakest losers the galaxy has ever seen. he spent last season stalking and obsessing over her and now they live together. he buys groceries and she pets his face. he face plants on her bed and she goes Awwwww. and he is still so awkward but she is just as awkward? obsessed with the shot of them just standing silently in the living room not looking at each other waiting for syril's mother to show up. they are like two strange fascist sunflowers growing beautifully side by side. not to mention syril still being religious about his corporate 9-5 while dedra gets put on an intragalactic propaganda campaign. but it is also quite sweet in a way. syril gets overstimulated at the family function and has to go to the other room to have a moment and his mother tells dedra Isn't he just so strange? surely you'll easily make him less strange. and then dedra says I like him so strange Kill yourself. what a lovely family.
me: i mean i don’t really care what other people think of star wars characters’ sexualities like. w/e, u know? different interpretations are chill
some homophobe: but none of the star wars characters are gay there cannot be gay characters in star wars star wars does not have a single gay char

I usually stick to canon, but the legends Jedi Apprentice series has a very special place in my heart partially because giving obi-wan a messed up apprenticeship where he was a child soldier several times adds so much to his character... directly informs his views on war and violence and a Jedi's role in those acts... anyway hey alexa play a pearl by Mitski
very much spitballing here, forgive me, but i think for the sake of the narrative needing a negative controlling idea and glucas’ use of obi-wan as a centering device in both his trilogies, obi-wan never really processes his role as a soldier and how that led to the fall of the republic. (obviously the jedi’s militarization wasn’t the only factor nor did they “deserve” their genocide. let’s be adults). because by the time of anh obi-wan is isolated, and regretful, but he still talks of fighting/war/battle in this either nuetral or valorizing tone. he hypes up both yoda and anakin as expert warriors. and when it comes down to it, 11th hour, he tells luke to kill vader. he tells him it needs to be done. BUT! when we meet yoda, he’s lowkey pushing back on that. he rejects the warrior label obi-wan gave him. even as he preps luke for what he knows is inevitable (a vader confrontation), he tells luke to forsake his weapons. you compare that to mr obi fuck-it-lightsaber-in-the-cantina wan there, that’s such an interesting divide. at the end of the day both yoda and obi-wan form a thematic block that luke needs to overcome, but they come at it from different angles. not to mention in the pt yoda is the only jedi with consistent lil moments of “hmm. fucked up we have”, and all those little moments coming to fruition puts him in such a deep shame that he fucks off to a swamp forever. with hindsight, his whole “wars not make one great” deal comes off very much like he’s processing the reality of counting on this kid to kill his dad and not feeling too good about it maybe
Got inspired, made something, hope you enjoy.
Pretty accurate if I do say so myself.
see at some point post-ROTJ luke's gonna have to fill the droids in on the whole Situation and then this must have happened
Threepio: *full-on gibbering breakdown*
Artoo: *unfazed beeping*
Threepio, cutting off mid gibbering breakdown: you knew?
Artoo: *continued beeping*
Threepio: what do you mean, you were there?
Luke: wait what
Artoo, rolling away to go do droid things:
Luke: Artoo get back here right now
Artoo: *innocent whistling*
Luke: Artoo??
