I 100% thought vernestra was supposed to be an entirely different alien species bc she does NOT look Mirialan 😮‍💨

I Still Can’t Believe They Went From This In Attack Of The Clones (2002) To This In The Acolyte (2024)
I Still Can’t Believe They Went From This In Attack Of The Clones (2002) To This In The Acolyte (2024)

I still can’t believe they went from this in Attack of the Clones (2002) to this in The Acolyte (2024) even though they’re both portraying Mirialan Jedi Masters.

Vernestra looks like they just slapped some green make-up and some eyeliner dots on the actress and called it a day. It’s awful, especially since she has so many close-ups. Twenty-two years ago they made Luminara look like an actual humanoid alien, with beautiful details in both costume and make-up. Even though she's basically a background character, she looks so much more natural as a Jedi.

Sith!Obi-Wan, holding a detonator: I’ll give you thirty minutes to say your goodbyes before I blow you to smithereens Cody: Can I get a different kind of blow? Fox: *turns and stares at him* Cody: … I said that out loud- Fox: YOU SAID THAT OUT LOUD Rex, to Sith!Obi-Wan: You can skip the countdown, just kill us

The fact that obimaul isn't a more popular ship makes me crazy. How do more people not see it.

They're narrative foils. Maul survives a killing blow because the thought of Kenobi kept him alive, and what is obsession but a mirror of devotion? Obi-Wan is the master of defense and Maul is the master of offense. Obi-Wan's first and last kill of his life is Maul. The trajectory of their lives is extraordinary similar until the Same Duel sends them shooting off into opposite directions and defines them both for decades. A duel that teaches Obi-Wan the feeling of revenge that will haunt Maul the rest of his life. Obi-Wan was the apprentice who was never wanted. Maul was wanted too much. Obi-Wan overcame his trauma, but Maul never could. Both rebellious by nature, forced into the mold of the Perfect Example of their respective orders, and yet they have the same failing - Maul, desperate for companionship from ANYBODY, and Obi-Wan who struggles with his attachment to the people he loves. Both forced into exile by the same man who destroyed their lives and orders. They've hurt each other in unimaginable ways and yet understand each other like no one else can.

"The only one allowed to kill you is me" but isnt that just another way of asking live for me? Who is your rival but your purpose? Is there not a tenderness in the eyes of your worst enemy who has seen you at your absolute lowest and still needs you to get back up? Because without you, what are they?

There is this common narrative among Star Wars fans that Anakin is the Jedi who cares most for his clone soldiers, but I think, this misses an important part of his character. Anakin may have a close relationship with (some of) his clones, but that doesn't mean he’s free from the authoritarian mindset that defines him.

Anakin’s belief in authoritarian leadership is one of his defining traits and a source of tension in his relationship with Padmé. In Episode II, Anakin’s conversation with her about order and strong leadership ("someone wise should make them agree") gives us a glimpse into his worldview, where he sees control as a necessary tool for peace and stability. It's not subtle.

Anakin thrives as a general in a military hierarchy where he has the power to command and enforce order. His leadership style reflects his belief in decisive action and control. He expects obedience, and when his authority is challenged, he doesn't respond well. He also doesn't respond well when he feels regulated by others, like the Jedi Council.

Fives is a prime example of how Anakin’s relationship with his clones can collapse in an instance when someone seriously questions his authority. And by questioning and allegedly trying to assassinate the chancellor, Fives challenges Anakin's authority by proxy as he deeply respects Palpatine's.

When Fives uncovers the truth about the inhibitor chips and questions the entire system, Anakin is unable to process the challenge in a way that reflects true understanding or empathy for Fives's situation. This reinforces the idea that while Anakin may be fond of his clones personally, his leadership is ultimately grounded in control, not a deeper sense of equality or solidarity with them.

The argument that Anakin’s background as a slave makes him more understanding of the clones' situation may be often invoked to justify the assumption of them being close. However, this doesn’t stop him from reproducing the same power dynamics that disempowered him. Anakin’s struggle is that he’s trying to distance himself from the slave master archetype by being a "good leader", but in doing so, he still maintains the hierarchical structure that strips the clones of real agency.

honestly i have to kinda disagree with that post thats like “being knightcore doesnt mean pro monarchy just swear ur undying loyalty to ur bff or ur crush or smth”

no. thats not what makes it sexy. either grapple with your beloved master’s role as a symbol of the state or choose to ignore it entirely and remain their loyal hound to whatever end, uncaring of the structures of power which you serve. become naught but a blade, the burden of your choices left to settle in the hand that wields you. it’s not about being besties forever it’s about OWNERSHIP and DUBIOUS MORALITY and FRANKLY QUESTIONABLE POWER DIFFERENTIALS

It’s Been Three Whole Entire Years

it’s been three whole entire years

Especially frustrating when they only talk about Anakin! Like, here's ONE guy with serious childhood trauma who felt restricted and repressed by the Jedi. Clearly the Jedi caused him to do crimes and were also bad for the entire galaxy

wake up babes they're calling the jedi a cult again
