I give the movie a solid 8.5/10. the only reason it's not a full 9-10/10 is because of two things;
a.) the pacing was crazy, like, it kind of overstimulated me? not in a bad way, exactly, but it definitely made it hard for me to focus while being slung through, like, ten different emotions every ten seconds. so much so, that when the movie ended, I felt nothing๐ (I was mad/hype/in my feels later, ofc) but like... after everythingggg, I felt very numb and needed a second longer than usual to recollect.
b.) everyone needed to take several high dose chill pills. like, am I the only one who feels as though certain character arcs/developments were erased? and that everyone needed to just sit tf down and t a l k fr? idkidk, don't press meโ๐ฝ๐โ๐ฝ.
other than that, solid movie and I'm so, so, excited for the next one, and I can't wait to start writing fanfic and make a spider-sona (or two...or three or four or five๐-).

the soundtrack is so fire !! straight heat๐ฅ, not one bad track, just banger after banger fr๐ป๐. when I give it my second watch (cuz no, I didn't watch it again yesterday like I said, I got busy, it's halloweekend, give me a break lol), I'll definitely list some of my faves from the track.
to be honest, though, I don't know what I expected. of course atsv had some heat. so did the first movie ! so I expect beyond the spider-verse to deliver again.
visuals... they ate down for the most part, I was totally expecting that. I only have one, eensy-weensy little pet peeve, and that's the way gwen's world/coloring is done. personally, it's just not my cup of tea, I didn't really vibe with it, which made it hard for me to enjoy a lot of her home world/dimension scenes. and ofc, it's just my opinion. if you liked it, awesome. I don't expect to start something or like... have the whole artstyle be changed, that's not what I'm saying.
I just wasn't messing with it, and that's totally okay :). everyone else was *๐* perfect, and my faves definitely had to be our miles' (y'know, 1610!miles) dimension, pavitr's, hobie's... okay, so, basically, everyone else's but gwen's (y'all are going to start to notice a theme here, btw๐ฅด๐). but, if anyone has some niche facts or interpretations on why her world was colored as such, I'd love to hear them :).

(minus the spider-duties, ofc) I was deeply/heavily relating to his struggles. having all of these different things running through your mind at once, all things imperative for a good future/outcome. and then the constant stress of worrying about/for all of this different shit. especially the family bits, him just trying to do right by them but also needing s p a c e hit home mad hard๐ญ.
and then, omg, all of these people telling him all of these different things... how he, A TEENAGE BOY, has to make all of these life altering (some life ending) choices for MULTIPLE realities, including his own ?? have the adults in the building (movie) lost they whole entire minds?! anyways, sorry, lemme chill out. this is supposed to be about miles๐.
as usual, I loved him and his personality like, truly resonated with this awkward swag vibe he has going on (and have since the first movie) and I just-...
he's pookie, fr, and I wish the world and the ppl who claim to love him in it so deeply would act like such๐ญ๐. and he was so, so, so real for dissing peter (b. parker) every time he'd try to talk because bro, he was such a snitch, idcidc๐. and then real again for the whole, "everyone keeps tryna tell me how my story is supposed to go. y'all, I can't express how much this lil' girl got on my nerves. not to say that I don't understand, I do, trust. but it's not an excuse. and oh my days, did she make me cringe like... she gives me sheltered person vibes, which I was gonna say isn't her fault, but it kinda is when she shut herself out from the whole world willingly๐ญ. again, I understand why, but she set herself up doing that. on top of being so stereotypically white?

gwen deserved so much better from her father. sure, he came around towards the end, but where was the unconditional love and support that a parent is supposed to give, regardless of anything else? like, I was wholeheartedly shook to my core when gwen told him she was spider-girl, and his response was to arrest her.
sir...?! if it were me, I'd take all my shit from my room and never speak to that man again. like, oh 'ight, that's how you feel? I'm out here essentially doing your job after having to deal with the murder of my best friend (which you blamed me for, mind you !) and you want me in jail? still?? even after finding out I'm your lil' princess baby girl a.k.a. your daughter, bitch ???
sorry, but I'll say it again, my dad would never see me again 'cept when I'm busy being spider-girl on the tv๐น. and just in general, poor gwen fr, like, I truly felt it when spider-woman swooped into the scene in the start of the movie, and gwen's immediate response was to go, "can you adopt me?" and like, sure, "sHe wAs jOkInG/bEiNg aWkwArD" but, coming from a girl who wished she'd had better parents...
that was not a joke, she fully meant that shit, you're not changing my mind๐น๐ฅด. anyways, all in all, I have very 60/40 feelings about gwen. sixty being my dislike, forty being my like (or, more accurately, understanding of her person regardless of my dislike).

let's just acknowledge that she's voiced by the queen, ms. issa rae๐ป !!! like she ate down, I don't care what anyone has to say. now, onto her actual character, she was so honorable for taking gwen in. like wow, I wish someone would swoop into my life, via sick motorcycle and sweet webs, and snatch me up into a better life๐คฉ. and then further advocating for her (gwen) and her actions throughout the movie, even though it was risky?
she's so amazing (as all spider-people tend to be, harhar, puns). and yes, it was unfortunate when she couldn't do much for gwen upon miguel finding out what had been done and yada-yada, but she did all she could/agreed to/said she would do. She stood on her word, and that's all that matters๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ.
honestly, I don't have much on her except for the fact that I remember thinking she was pretty sick, so yeah :).

um, I don't... dislike him, I guess? but I definitely don't like him, nor am I attracted to him. I kind of don't get/understand that, but to each their own.
b u t... I do wanna say one thing because I hope that once I do say it, I start seeing a bit of a change/more of it...
I've read some miguel fanfiction, both before and after watching the movie. not saying I scoured the depths of tumblr for it or anything, read every last piece of writing on him there is to exist. that's not the case. but, from what I have read, y'all didn't get his character right imo. some aspects, sure, but his whole persona has been completely misconstrued. misinterpreted.
he's not this extra stoic, leader, jason todd-type/esque dude. to me, that man gave awkward and anti-social. I'd even go as far as to say he might've been a little autistic coded, but again, as always, that's just me โ๐ฝ๐โ๐ฝ. and sure, yes, there was stoic behavior, which comes along with being rather awkward and potentially on the spectrum. and I'm not at all denying that he's a badass, he totally is.
but outside of that, and outside of him being super aggro towards miles, any scene of him was either him keeping to his lonesome unless absolutely necessary. self-isolating (which can be moreso due to trauma/other mental troubles rather than autism), and wanting nothing to do with anything he wasn't comfortable with (and I definitely wanna say he didn't want to be leader of anything/in a position of power, that's just how shit lined up for him, and it's just like... what can you do๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ?).
he was consistent with his information, both giving it and explaining deeper. he didn't like to be interrupted while doing so. and there was that one moment where talking to lyla (lila? lyla?ยฟ) where he said something like, "do the explaining thing that do you do."
"what thing?"
"wha-๐? what do you mean, 'what thing?' the information explain-y thingy๐๐คจ."
and it's not even the only time where him and lila have had this awkward (but cute, ngl) dynamic with each other. anyways, whatever, I could just be talking out of my ass and being contradictory (becauss he is stoic but he isnt but he is-?ยฟ), but-
I need/wanna see more awkward and introverted miguel content, not so much no-nonsense and hella apathetic...

through context clues, though, I was happy when he sided with miles/supported his journey to do whatever he felt it was best to do. and how he quit being apart of... what was it called, the spider-society? I-... and then at the end when he shows up to help gwen and them help miles. also, hello, the friendship between him and pavitr is so cute, I live for that๐ญ.
also, his suit kicks ass. I thought the spikes and the fact that he fights with a guitar was a very nice touch, and I really dig how when miles was like, "how are you even cooler under the mask?" he's like, "I was this cool the whole time๐.

- spot was nonchalantly terrifying and funny, and I really a d o r e villains like that. just unhinged and doing thier own thing while still proving themselves great threat and standing on buisness? yeah, he was awesome, I have zero nitpicks on him, he was done very well. althoughhhh.... I know I just said I have no nitpicks, but why is his backstory/origin so insignificant๐ญ? like it's kind of lame, but at the same time, kind of... genius? like, I don't hate it, but I definitely wouldn't have come up with it so I guess that's a good thing. original/unique, in this specific case, I'd say๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ.

- why did they wash out jefferson's character so badly? like, he still had his moments, but outside of that, he was basically just comic relief, which was... a little jarring given how he behaved in the first movie. I definitely feel like he could've been done a little better, but I supposed it wasn't a crazy bad change. like, there was the fact that miles (as spider-man, but still-) still had to tell him to get off of his ass, so it wasn't a complete 180ยฐ change or anything. just a noticeable one.

but omg I adore the creativity of this, holy shit dude !!!! personally, I've always resonated with freddy being on the more creative side of things (much like the other job ideas you listed), so flight attendant never crossed my mind ! on that note...
you can't tell me freddy wouldn't be absolutely charming and rizzing up all of his passengers and co-workers๐๐คญ. and he likes to make a show of doing the whole 'make sure you fasten your seat belts, and this is how to work your oxegyn masks' thing, you know what I'm talking about?
and handing out snacks would be this whole other ordeal, he'd be launching them bitches across the isle if he missed someone or would be settling small disputes with his horribly timed comedy. and babies? yeah, they don't cry on his flights, he's making sure of it, making faces and entertaining them (other attendants are constantly trying to work shifts with him because of this). he gives older kids tours of what he's allowed to show them, telling elderly folk they don't look a day over twenty, all of that shit.
and don't let him work first class !! he's absolutely clapping back at all of the snobby folk (it's a wonder he still has his job), and then on the occasions where they're the nice rich type, bro is popping wine bottles with them, indulging in their life stories, cracking an immense amount of jokes and making MASSIVE tips cuz freddy freeman is likeable in EVERY universe, including yours, idc, I said what I said...
plus, he's flying. he's doing what he always dreamed to do; he's in the sky, free and seeing all of the tiny people, places, and things below him. night, day, clear skies, rainy clouds, it doesn't matter. the shakiness of the turbulence and the sound of a jet engine can be drowned out with earbuds, he can kick back and relax after a long shift, it. does. not. matter. the downs are worth it because he's up.

Summary: we love one bed. We love a sprinkle of accidental confession. Warning: tired Jaime is clingy. Canon. A/N: I LOVE this lmao tysm
You and Jaime hadnโt been friends for very long when all of the Kord stuff happened, but you didnโt hesitate to offer letting him and his family stay at your apartment while their house was getting fixed. They didnโt end up taking you up on that, since Jenny also offered them their own apartment and theyโd rather take that then inconvenience you, but it was a little cramped in that apartment (not that it wouldnโt have been at yours). Jaime complained about it all the time. Especially about how Milagro had been relentlessly teasing and annoying him about stuff. He didnโt specify what. Anyway, thatโs how you found yourself on a Sunday evening opening the door to a kinda disheveled looking Jaime. โOh. Jaime. Whatโs up?โ You moved to the side, letting him enter your apartment. โUgh.โ He groaned. โI havenโt slept properly in ages. Between renovations, hero stuff and my family seemingly being more overbearing than usual, especially in a space so small I canโt escape them, it just. I canโt fucking sleep.โ He ranted and then ran a hand over his face and hair. You just chuckled as you closed the door and walked further into your apartment. โSo you came here to escape?โ You sat down on the couch and looked up at him, standing before you, hesitating for a second whether to sit down or what to do before deciding to do so. โYeahโ He breathed out. โI guess.โ You hummed, understandingly. โWell, my doors are always open for you.โ Turning towards the tv, you grabbed the remote from your coffee table. โWanna watch spiderman with me?โ Jaime sighed and then grinned, โsure.โ
He didnโt last 5 minutes.
You glanced over at him and noticed his closed eyes and deep relaxed breaths. Hesitant, you gave him a nudge, trying to wake him up. The couch, and the way he was sitting right now especially, would give him a sore back and neck if he continued sleeping like this. โJaime.โ You whisper-shouted. Another nudge, โJaime!โ. Groggily he murmured and tried to move out of the way so he could continue his sleep in peace. โCome on Jaime, go to bed.โ You tried pulling on his arm to get him to stand up, but he barely moved. Instead he pulled you down, so you landed half on top of him and he buried his head in your neck, while his arms closed around your waist holding you close. You froze and your brain simultaneously short-circuited and erupted into chaos. His breath was warm and even on your skin and his hands so soft on the little bit of exposed skin between your top and pants. He didnโt seem bothered by the position you two found yourselves in, hell, he probably didnโt even notice. You were pretty sure he was immediately and fully asleep again. Meanwhile your heart was still beating as if to escape your chest.
โJaime.โ You tried again after youโve had a while to compose yourself. โCome on, letโs get you to bed, itโll be more comfortable.โ No success. โKhaji-Da?โ Last resort. You heard groaning, and felt Jaime moving ever so slightly. โCome on now, letโs get you to bed. I promise you can continue sleeping in just a second.โ Carefully, you tried slipping out of his arms, standing up and holding your hands out in front of you to help him up. With a pout on his lips he looked at you through half-lidded eyes before taking your hands with an overly dramatic movement and you pulled him up rolling your eyes, laughing. You didnโt notice the way he smiled at that. One of his hands still in yours, you led him to your bedroom. โGo. Sleep.โ You lightly patted him on his back in a shoving way to get him to go to your bed. Standing in the doorway with your arms crossed you were observing if he was doing what youโre telling him to. He was well on his way when he stopped, as if a sudden thought occurred. โWhat about you?โ He turned around. His voice was raspy, still half-asleep. Your heart was racing again, and your face felt very hot suddenly. โWโฆโ you cleared your throat. โWhat about me?โ โArenโt you going to sleep?โ โOh. Iโll just sleep on the couch itโs fine. Plus, we didnโt really get that far with the movie, so I can just finish it.โ He didnโt seem to like that answer, by the way his brows furrowed and his pout came back. โIโm not stealing your bed and leaving you to sleep on your couch. Especially in your own apartment.โ โYou need sleep more than I do. Itโs fine. Really.โ You tried convincing him. A feeling of an old western stare down crept up on you. Like whoever blinked first, lost. โCome on Jaime, just go back to sleep.โ You plead, head slightly tilted and puppy-dog-eyes. His eyes narrowed. He was going to strike a deal. Or a compromise. โIโll only go to sleep if you go. And Iโll only sleep in your bed if you do. Wait that came out wrong.โ
โPffff.โ You burst out laughing. Ignoring how flustered his proposal made you. This man was gonna be the death of you some day. โYou sure?โ you asked jokingly. โFine, go to bed. Iโll turn off the tv.โ You sighed playfully defeated and turned around. Your heart was doing the racy thing again at the thought of sleeping in the same bed as Jaime. You groaned annoyed as you turned off the tv and lights and went back to the bedroom. For a second, you had considered staying in the living room and hoping heโd fallen back asleep, but he was stubborn and you knew that. There was no escape. And as predicted, he was sitting in your bed waiting, watching the door for you to come back. You noticed he was only wearing a t-shirt now, his sweater and pants on the floor next to him and it reminded you that you still had to change into your pajamas. Being around Jaime really saved you a lot of money on blush. You could tell he was watching you as you made your way over to your closet. If you wanted to, you could just go to the living room to change, or the bathroom. The question is, did you want to? Not really. You felt comfortable around Jaime, and you trusted him. And itโs not like you were about to get completely naked. And honestly, he probably might just look away anyway. So you took of your pants first, to put on some shorts, and then your top, to put on a flowy shirt. All the while your back was turned to your bed. You might have heard a โshut up Khajโ from behind you but you werenโt sure. Okay, maybe in hindsight it did make you feel a bit embarrassed and flustered to change in front of him. When you turned around, Jaime was staring at the wall in front of him very intently, and with a very red face. ย Pressing your lips together to contain your facial expression you made your way over to the other side of the bed. โHappy now?โ You asked as you sat down next to him, pulling the blanket on top of you. โuhuh.. hmm. Yeahโ He was still looking straight ahead and avoiding your eyes. โJaime.โ You called out softly. This made his head turn. โGo to sleep.โ You grinned. He only rolled his eyes in response and shook his head in mock-exasperation. But for some reason you couldnโt move your eyes, or stop your lips from smiling, and you kept looking at him. At his pretty, pretty face, with his soft, soft hair. His lips, that had been breathing into your neck just minutes earlier. His beautiful brown eyes that you found staring back at yours. In just a second, a tension had built up and the energy in the room completely changed. You licked your lips nervously.ย What now? Neither of you dared to move. You werenโt even sure if you were breathing at this point. You felt the urge to say something, but you didnโt know what. Your mind was wiped completely empty. Jaimeโs eyes were the first to flicker down to your lips.
And then his phone made a sound. You almost jumped apart, and he dizzily looked you up and down before turning around to grab his phone. His attention elsewhere and his eyes no longer on you, you remembered to breathe. Turning to face away from him, instead facing the wall he had been looking at so meticulously earlier you glid down so you were no longer sitting and let your covers almost swallow you whole. As if they could protect you from the fire you felt inside. You heard him setting his phone down again, and the rustling of the duvet when he laid down as well. You felt him looking at you. Did you dare look at him?
No.
โGood night, y/n.โ
Only then you glanced over at him. โGood night Jaime.โ You whispered, before looking back up at the ceiling.
By the sound of his breathing, he fell asleep soon after. Something you were, so very far away from at this moment. Your whole body was tense and your mind was going a mile a minute. You were acutely aware of his presence, his face just a couple inches to your side. There was no way you could calm down enough to fall asleep with him in your bed, next to you. You turned to face away from him, hoping itโd give you some sense of distance between you two. After some brainstorming you figured your best bet was to sneak out on to the couch once you were sure it wouldnโt wake him up. Well, thatโs what you wouldโve done, if you werenโt suddenly wrapped in Jaimeโs arms literal seconds before you would have tried sneaking out. โStay.โ He murmured sleepily, face buried in your back. โWh..โ slipped out of your mouth as you tensed up, caught off-guard. โKhaj.โ He answered your unspoken question, his hands around your waist. You had two choices. Give in, or not. You gave in.
Surprising how fast you can fall asleep when youโre in the arms of someone you l- When youโre in the arms of someone. Period.
You woke up still in his arms, and it made you feel all warm inside. Though, face-to-face now, with your face buried in his neck for a change. โMorning.โ His voice was hoarse, though it sounded liked he had been for a while already. You didnโt feel like talking yet, so you just wrapped your arms around him tighter and buried your face in his shoulders more. Suddenly shy. One of his hands moved from your back to stroke your hair. This, you thought, is a moment you wished you could stay in forever. โYou want some breakfast?โ Jaime asked. โmmhmโ you declined. โI only want to stay in bed with you.โ He chuckled at that and started playing with your hair, wrapping strands around his fingers. โAnd to think just a few hours ago you tried to sneak out.โ He teased. Your face scrunched up. โhmmhโ you mumbled, โwell, I changed my mind. Now you have to come over every night so I can fall asleep.โ You werenโt completely serious when you said it, but Jaime just replied with a โDeal.โ There was a content silence after this. He continued playing with your hair and you continued holding him. โDo you think trees get sad when their leaves fall off?โ This came completely unprompted and so sudden it made you laugh. โJaime what the fuck.โ You pulled away to look at him, amused. He looked at you so full of love your brain stuttered. โIโฆโ You trailed off. โNo. If theyโre capable of enough thought to be sad about it, I think they know the leaves will come back.โ โBut they wonโt be the same leaves.โ His fingers that were weaving through your hair before now began tracing invisible patterns on your skin. โDo you get sad when you get a haircut? I imagine itโs the same way.โ You replied sincerely. He seemed to think about it before his face scrunched up. โIโd be sad if I got a buzzcut yeah.โ You burst out laughing. After you calmed down you started running one of your hands through his hair. โIโd be sad if you got a buzzcut, too.โ But Iโd still love you.
โBut Iโd still love you.โ
You didnโt even notice you said it out loud, the thought itself stunned you and made your hand stop playing with his hair for a second before you managed to get it moving again. You completely forgot about your face, so the shock was still seared into it. Eyes wide, looking at your hand in his hair, focusing on it, as if combing through his hair was the most difficult thing to do, just so you didnโt have to look into his eyes.
โYou love me?โ
Your hands halted and your eyes met his. โWhat?โ
โYouโฆ love me?โ he repeated in the same soft and unbelieving voice, barely above a whisper.
โWhat?โ you felt like a broken record.
โYou said you would still love me.โ
โOh.โ

In a way this situation was like the one yesterday, before his phone went off. Both of you staring at each other, not saying a word. But the energy was so different. He was waiting for you to say something, it seemed, to confirm or deny, but you didnโt know what to say. There are two wolves inside of you. So you stayed completely frozen instead. There was no phone โdingโ to save you this time. It was getting uncomfortable, neither of you saying anything. Your fight or flight instinct was begging for you to run. Instead, almost out of your control, your mouth opened, as if to say something. But then you remembered you had no idea what to say. โyes.โ Oh. I guess weโre going with that. This seemed to break you out of your spell, you turned around, out of his arms, out of the bed, you got up. โSorry.โ โWhat? Why are you apologizing?โ Jaime asked. Your back turned towards him you heard him move. Flight was kicking in, and you were well on your way out the bedroom when he managed to grab your arm and keep you from moving further away. โI love you!โ
You stood still. Then you turned around. โI love you too.โ Jaime said again, this time adding the โtooโ. โSo you donโt have to apologize.โ It was a little funny, if you were honest. The way he was half kneeling on your bed half standing on the floor, holding your wrist and telling you he loved you in just his shirt and underwear. โYou do?โ โYeah. Of course. Of course I do, how could I not?โ He said it so earnestly, it made you want to laugh because he was still in that weird position. โYou do.โ No longer a question. You stepped closer with a smile. โYou love me.โ Grinning now. โYou love me.โ He just repeated. Spiderman pointing meme. You nod. And then you kiss him.

also-also-also, it was amazing to see his character be brought to life because I remember being tiny and having the fattest crush on jaime after watching justice league vs. teen titans, so I felt the way I felt then, now, all over again๐. also, once again, the representation?! *french kiss*๐ spectacular. they were right when they said it was practically the black panther for latinos lmfao.
also, once again, I found myself deeply relating to the main character, his job/life struggles and the way he was feeling all of that pressure coming down on him so fast from all of these outlying forces,,, yeah๐ฅฒ.
unlike me, though, his family was his support system. and I so deeply loved that for him and watching his bond/connection with his family on screen was so heartwarming and refreshing (especially for dc lmao we know how they be, traumatizing their characters๐), and then basically adopting jenny kord๐ญ๐.
lord, and when the dad, alberto, died...I felt that in my chest bro, I was crying, like, milagro screaming out for her mom, dude...

but yeah, all in all, super cute and fun movie, I loved it a lot, and I definitely can't wait for the dceu to expand on jaime and his family and superhero life, especially knowing he's basically the start of the whole dceu reboot thing. james gunn, do my boy right or I swear to god, I'll re-write and re-cast the entire dceu myself and do it better. that's a threat and a promise๐ฅฐ๐ซต๐ฝ.
