I decided to rewatch Once Upon a Time....well, I guess it's not really a rewatch....I watched the first two seasons while it was airing, but dropped off after that.

Anyway.

I got reminded of how people reacted to the reveal of why Regina hated Snow White so much. People kept complaining about how it wasn't really Snow's fault, it wasn't bad enough to make Regina hate her that much, it was really Cora's fault, blah blah blah

But that was always the point.

Regina's hatred of Snow wasn't intended to be justified. Snow was never supposed to have deserved it.

Regina dealt with her grief and unhappiness by finding someone to blame for it. Her mom? She's terrified of her mom. Her mom isn't safe to hate.

Snow is safe to hate. She's innocent, naive, defenseless, and she's always there. Snow is always there. Regina can't escape the person who she has made into a symbol for all of her trauma and misery.

I am so done arguing with people about Hogwarts Legacy. At this point, if you don't get why supporting the game is harmful, it's because you've chosen not to.

The reasoning has been laid out in the most hand-holding way possible by so many people. Many of whom have been extremely nice and calm about it. I could go on all day about the bad faith arguments that keep popping up about why the game is good actually. They also really want to gloss over the game having an MtF character with a fully masculine voice and face named Sirona Ryan.

Anyway! I don't want to, and shouldn't have to, spend any more of my time explaining why capitalism isn't a free pass to buy a game that supports a racist, transphobic, and honestly just plain evil person. If you can't comprehend why using Twitter is different from spending $80 on a game, it's because you don't actually care. i went to the YA section several years ago since i needed a book to read to pass some time. there was this one called "the border" that had a nice looking cover that i ended up buying (was a good choice for me specifically since it taught me a few things about immigration that i had never exposed myself to, though i don't recommend it otherwise. like, at all.). the only female protagonist offered to show her tits to a kid so he'd buy her something from the corner store, and did the same thing for the main protag in the middle of the desert because she liked him(??? they were both teens, but it was still strange). ended up looking up the author years later, and yes, it is a grown ass man. the A in YA stands for AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH??????
