How I thought writing would go: You're in control of your story. You are the puppet master! You control these characters, what they do, what they say, what they think. This world is yours, do as you please.
How it's going: my characters stopped listening to me, and now I'm 6485746 words into a plot that went off the rails on page 4.
THIS ONE
Yes im aromantic but i hate when people take that as "i want nothing to do with any type of relationship/affection besides platonic" because that just isnt true. No i will not be your boyfriend Yes i will kiss you if you want me to
if straight people gotta change pronouns when they’re singing covers so they don’t sound gay, then asexual singers have every right to replace any and all pronouns with “chicken nuggets”
I just started watching Overlord (on episode 5) and honestly? I'm committed to whatever past relationship Albeto and Shalltear had, and whether or not they're getting back together. They act like divorced wives who want everyone to know exactly why they aren't married anymore. They also definitely don't spend more time together than necessary. And they reallllly aren't kissing off screen, promise.
Receiving comments means so much to fic authors so we’d love to encourage people to leave more. But we appreciate that leaving comments can be a bit daunting or draining, especially on days when we are tired or already stressed. So here are a few resources to hopefully encourage us all to leave more and to make doing so easier.
Archive of Our Own floating comment boxes
There are a couple of versions of these out there and they can be helpful. They are browser extensions that allow you to keep the comment box on the screen whenever you like so that you can easily comment as you read, rather than getting to the end and panicking about what to say.
Here are two different versions:

Feed The Fandom Fest
Have you heard of the @feedthefandomfest bingo cards? Because if you’re participating in these, maybe one of the recs on this blog could be the perfect way to tick off a square on these cards. Or, if you’ve not started one yet, why not pick one to encourage yourself to comment more and have some fun while doing so?
Here are the different cards:
Original Card
For Beginners
Fluff Edition
Angst Edition
Smut Edition
Old Fic Edition
Billy Hargrove Edition
Or put your own together!
I’d also just recommend having a look through the Feed The Fandom Fest blog in general, it’s such a wonderful resource 💖
Additional AO3 Kudos
Here’s some images of additional kudos for when you’re longing to mash that button again but all it greets you with is that mocking red smiley face. These are complete with the html to easily put them in!
AO3 Random Nice Comments
This browser extension will give you a short, nice comment from a list at the press of a button. It may be useful for beginner commenters who want to say something nice but are unsure what.
Comment prompts
If you want to craft your own comments but are unsure what to say, here’s a few starting points:
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think back on the fic? I’m sure the author would love to know
Who was your favourite character in the fic?
Where are you reading the fic?
Speculate on what could happen after the end of the fic
How did you react emotionally? Did you laugh? Cry? Smile? Scream?
Or there’s the simple but ever loved:
Keyboard smash
String of emojis
‘Loved this!’
Here’s some more lists of prompts:

Like, you're telling me two (or more) people can see each other and have the same chemical response in their bodies happen at the same time? Like, love at first sight, right? You see someone.. and now you want to spend your life with them? Because the silly little Dopamine and Norepinephrine producers went crazy? Alright, sure friend..
Togachako story where Ochako keeps seeing Himiko’s ghost telling her to do stuff and she’s not sure if it’s real but it’s mostly self care stuff like “hey you haven’t eaten today” or “hey I’m sorry but I really want to see this guy’s blood but I’m a ghost so I’m gonna need you to bite this guy” or “don’t forget to wash your hair”
All ochako’s friends notice how she seems to be doing better about taking care of herself now and are happy for her but all collectively agree not to talk about the fact that she keeps biting villains
boop boop boop
- reblogs are deeply appreciated ! -
Obsessed with the idea that even when they're adults, Himiko and Ochako still do kid things. They have matching pajamas for their favorite shows and they still frequent the treehouse they built when they were teenagers and do all these silly little things because neither of them really got that experience as a child. Ochako's parents could never afford the cool pajamas and Himiko's parents never gave her time of day, so now they're just making up for lost time together. IM CRYING.
A list of rules when interacting with an aroace person, by an aroace person:
- Do not romantic our platonic. We will not hesitate to smash a rock into your skull.
- Do not piss us off. We're all attached by invisible walkie-talkies. It's like roaches--if there's one, there's definitely another one nearby.
- Do not say things like 'when you're married' or 'when you meet that special person'. Trust me, coming to terms with an aroace identity in a romance-centered world is not a fun, quirky choice.
- Do not assume that we don't like seeing romance/sex in the media. I'm aroace and one of my favourite genres is romance.
- WE ARE LGBTQIA+. Doesn't matter if we're cis, heterosexual but aromantic or heteroromantic but asexual or any other combination of all the various shades of aspec, WE COUNT AS QUEER PEOPLE.
- Do not equate being aroace or on the aspectrum to being celibate. It's not the same thing. Being aroace is not a choice.
- Being aroace does not mean we're all lonely or sad. Eating garlic bread is scientifically shown to boost your serotonin levels (don't fact check me on this)
- Living with someone or wanting to live with someone doesn't mean we want them romantically! If you have the option to establish a hideout for you and all your buddies, why wouldn't you?
This was, again, a list of rules when interacting with an aroace person, shown to reduce chances of dying by burnt breadsticks and pasta by 100%!
