In the catzai au, is Fyodor an actual rat and Nikolai a dove?
perhaps
Ages ago I went to a flying tiger and saw these..... and I was like "the universe is giving me a skk sign"
Concept:
The dynamic of Ranpo and Yosano as kids is really interesting to me.
You have Ranpo who thought he had an ability and it saved him. He flaunts it to the public and takes great pride in displaying it.
He’s smarter than anyone else and he made that a strength of his instead of something to fear.
And then you have Yosano who has an ability and it hurt her. Her ability was abused and she was locked away when she tried to run.
She knows she can do so much good and that terrifies her.
I personally don’t think that Ranpo understood the weight of having an ability until they met.
Yes he was kidnapped for it and I’m sure Fukuzwa told him tales and the importance of this gifted business permit.
But I like to think meeting Yosano reminded Ranpo that he’s not untouchable.
That even now he’s still human.
I like to think they saw pieces of themselves in each other. Parts of them that they had long since lost.
Ranpo saw in Yosano the fear of one in a world full of monsters. Yosano saw in Ranpo her earlier confidence, when her ability was a point of pride.
That Ranpo tries to return to her with that butterfly pin he found in the wreckage.
Because you are human.
Because you are extradionary not because of your gift but because you are kind.
You wanted to help them.
And now I’m going to help you.
My name is Abdelmajed. I never imagined I’d be sharing my story like this, but life in Gaza has become unbearable. I am a survivor of the war here, and in the blink of an eye, everything I once knew—my home, my safety, my community—was ripped away from me.
The war has transformed Gaza into a graveyard of broken dreams. The buildings that once stood as symbols of life and resilience are now piles of rubble. Every corner is filled with the echoes of explosions. Every moment is shrouded in uncertainty. There is no security. There is no stability. There is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Basic needs have become luxuries. Food is scarce. Clean water is even scarcer. Hospitals are overwhelmed and under-resourced, and there is almost no medical care to be found. Every night, families go to bed hungry, praying they’ll wake up to see another day. The cost of basic necessities has skyrocketed, and it’s become a daily battle just to survive.
I’ve seen things I never thought possible—standing in long lines for a piece of bread, rationing every drop of water, and watching my people suffer in silence. I have lost everything—my home, my safety, my dignity.
Escape from Gaza is my only hope, but it’s almost impossible without financial help. The cost of evacuation is far beyond my means, and without support, I’m trapped in a warzone with no way out.
I’m reaching out to you now, in the hopes that someone, anyone, can help. I am not asking for luxury. I am asking for a chance—just a chance—to live. A chance to escape this never-ending cycle of fear, destruction, and loss. A chance to rebuild my life somewhere safe, where I can begin again, where I can find hope once more.
Any amount you can give will help me get closer to safety. Even the smallest donation will make a difference—it could be the lifeline I need to survive. If you are unable to donate, please share my story. The more people who hear it, the better the chance that I can find the support I desperately need.
Your kindness and support mean the world to me. You’re not just helping me escape a war; you’re giving me a chance to live, to rebuild, to breathe again.
Thank you for listening. Thank you for caring.
While Gunko's not necessarily geeking out over Brook like we would have expected, in a way this is probably the closest a Celestial Dragon does get to being starstruck. If 'starstruck' means immediately wanting to kidnap the artist in question so that they cater to you and you alone.
We also saw Charlos attempt to do the same thing in Film Red. He liked Uta's music so much that he tried kidnapping her mid-concert to be his personal musician.
And what ended up happening there was Uta not only flat-out told him no because her music belongs to the world, but also put him on blast for being a scumbag before putting him in his place with her Sing Sing powers.
And that's what Brook does here too, with the added bonus that he's sticking by his captain, even to the point where he's willing to lay down his second life. Which is a huge deal for Brook since his dream is contingent upon him getting to reunite with Laboon.
While Gunko is the one who's giving a physical beatdown to Brook, look how she's clenching her chest as if her heart was breaking. And she then proceeds to stomp on Brook some more even after Sommers told her to leave the Strawhats alone.
You could write this off as her throwing a tantrum because she's not getting her way, like Celestial Dragons are wont to do when they're not given instant gratification, but I think there's more to it than just that. It reminds me of how upset Gunko got when Loki vehemently rejected being a God's Knight because they're scum.
Look at what it was Brook said: "I would sooner embrace death than live without honor"
Both Loki and now Brook seem to be confirming Gunko's inner doubts about being a God's Knight. She's getting continual proof that she's backing the wrong horse and the universe keeps sending her those signs no matter how fiercely she denies it.
The Strawhats themselves remark on how odd it is that a Celestial Dragon is a fan of Brook's music. Like those two things are incompatible.
And they kind of are because Brook's music, especially New World, is all about the wonders and adventures of piracy, breaking the status quo, and pursuing freedom as the sun shines down. Everything the Celestial Dragons are against.
And yet, what is Gunko's favorite song?
But what is it that Gunko is most afraid of?
Something doesn't add up.
These glasses made me cry.
Usually, whenever fanatism and admiration become too much to the point of wanting to turn yourself into your idol, you end up forgetting yourself. She begins the short by dressing exactly like Nami (no glasses despite needing them and sandals to walk Nami's steps) and complaining about how she could pretend to be a better Nami than the fake one.
She thanks Nami for inspiring her to be adventurous and live an intrepid life, to the point where it seems she wants to be her in order to do so.
And yet, at the end of the day, it's herself (with her glasses, barefoot and far from the perfect ideal she has of Nami) the one who saves the day and gets to live her own adventure.
SB!Chuuya vs mafia grunts: spot the differences
Choker (for style)
Gloves (we don't have time to unpack all that)
Rolled up sleeves (for size style)
Open collar (delinquent)
No tie (delinquent)
Unworn sunglasses (in pocket)
It has all the elements of a standard mafia grunt uniform. In the novel, he picks up a shirt, all of which are high-end and well-maintained, "at random" just to get it done. This matches his empty apartment in serving the theme of the story, which is "who is Nakahara Chuuya?"
and YET, we can see his personality come through that basic nobody uniform in the way he chooses to style his bland clothes, the accessories he puts on, and the glasses, which are a mean to anonymise the mafia members, that he does not put on, yet carries with him. He will not be absorbed as just one of the many, and despite his uncertainties, he's clearly himself from the very start.
CHARACTER DESIGN!!!!
(note: the light novel description of his clothes and the character design do not completely agree. Asagiri wanted to have Chuuya wear emerald cuff links. Harukawa rolled up his sleeves. Make of that what you will.)
but i don't know how to walk toward the past or future! — it's simple. feel strongly. that's what you do when you want to experience the past.
