Last Thursday, I attended the opening of Double Shuffle at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin D02 A028. Double Shuufle is an exhibition of work by Victoria Morton and Merlin James. The opening started at 5:00 so it took a while for the venue to fill up with people. The artwork on view consisted of paintings and wall-mounted sculptures in various media. I enjoyed viewing the large painting by Victoria Morten called 'About Listening'. It was full of color and life. Merlin's artwork was more understated. I liked his paintings titled 'Pier' and 'Sky'. Double Shuffle will run until 8th July 2023.

Last Thurs evening (8th June 2022), I attended the opening of Comhghall Casey's exhition 'New Work' held at the Solomon Gallery, Balfe St. Dub 2. Comhghall's paintings were easy on the eye. The venue was busy with a relaxed atmosphere. Comhghall's exhition will run until 2nd July.
Just back from the opening of Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh's exhibition 'Dwelling' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dub 8. Most of Sinéad's paintings were the same shape and size which gave consistency to her exhibition. My favourite painting was the large yellow one called 'Dweling' because it was cheerful. The venue was busy, the atmosphere lively. Sinéad's exhibition will run until 2nd Mar 2024.

Tonight, I attended the opening of Kathy Tynan's exhibition 'Meantime' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dublin 8. The event was well attended with a lively noisy atmosphere. Plenty of chatter indoors and out.
Many of Kathy's paintings have a flattened perspective like that of Henri Matisse. There were some lovely scenes like that of two geese in a painting called 'Almost Over a Year. My favorite painting was 'In the Blue Behind Eyes' which just featured a figure and shadow on a swirling background.
Kathy's exhibition will continue until 9th Sept 2024.

Last Thursday night, I attended the opening of Jaki Irvine's exhibition 'Ack Ro' at the Kerlin Gallery. Climbing the stairs up to the room where the exhibition was on display was an experience in itself. Neon lights mounted on the walls filled the room with a lovely pink glow. Flat-screen televisions showed either still pictures or short video loops of urban scenes. One video featured a musical ensemble including a keyboard, cymbals and a singer singing. The music was discordant but not intolerable and added to the general atmosphere. I was intrigued to read in the press release that Jaki had created her show around the themes of dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.
No drinking was allowed in the exhibition room due to cables running along the ground and flat screen televisions hanging out of the ceiling. Nothing happened when I was there.
Jaki's exhibition will run until 29th Feb 2020 at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, Sth Anne's St., Dub 2.

Tonight, I attended the opening of Cléa Van der Grijns exhibition 'Orbiva at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 D02 T802.
Her paintings, mixed media on linen or wood are colorful especially the reds and pinks. My favorite painting was Boschian Lush #2 featuring two hearts or arms.
In 'Boschian Lush #3' which I also loved, I saw the bottom half of a dancer.
Cléa has also created a series of eight digital embroideries including 'Boschian Lush #1', top left.
It was a very enjoyable evening. Well worth the effort of going. Cléa's exhibition will run onto 29th Mar 2025.
