Michael Coleman At Kevin Kavanagh

Michael Coleman at Kevin Kavanagh

Last night, I attended the opening of Michael Coleman’s exhibition ‘Still Life’ at the Kevin Kavanagh gallery. His colourful paintings varied from abstract to landscape. I liked his installation of a shelf on which a collection of painted cards stood. The shelf was hung over one of his larger paintings called ‘'Connolly’s Folly’. My favourite painting was ‘Tiger Lilies’ with its combination of pink, green and yellow. Michael’s show will run until 6th April 2019 at Chancery Lane, Dublin 8.

Paul Abell as Rathmines Library

Last night, I attended the opening of Paul Abell’s art exhibition at Rathmines Library. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Paul had already begun to sell his many paintings featuring buildings, boating scenes and landscapes. I particularly loved Paul’s paintings of one or two boats moored on a hazy shoreline which are the biggest sellers. Paul’s exhibition will continue for just today and tomorrow. He hopes to raise €8,000 the Capuchin Day Centre for the Homeless and Mellon Educate, a charity that builds schools in South Africa.

Dáire Lynch at Gallery X

I saw the opening of Dáire Lynch's exhibition at Gallery X, 11 Hume Street, Dublin called 'The Light Falls Softly'. The venue was packed. There were many paintings on view which ranged in size and content. However, most of Dáire's paintings were figurative in genre. I particularly liked his large blue paintings each featuring a single figure with a patterned background. Dáire's exhibition will only run for another week.

Sinead Ni Mhaonaigh at the Kerlin

Tonight, I attended the opening of Sinead Ni Mhaonaigh's exhibition 'Teorainn' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery. I enjoyed viewing her paintings especially the more hazy ones with less detail. The venue was busy with a relaxed atmosphere. Sinead's exhibition will run until 29th Feb 2020 at Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chanery Lane, Dub 8.
