We are not 'biologically nonbinary', it's actually fairly rare for us to be assigned X at birth, the majority of us are given an assigned sex.
Intersex is a catch-all for a huge number of variations, so there is no singular 'intersex body', in fact a large number of us do not have ambiguous genitalia.
You cannot transition to become intersex. You can transition to have a mix of sex characteristics. The current most accepted word for this I've seen is Salmacian. Because intersex is an umbrella term for many many variations and conditions, saying this is similar to saying you'd like to transition to being autistic or having EDS.
A lot of us go through medical abuse in childhood, including forced hormone replacement therapy and gender reassignment surgeries, often as infants. I, for example, was forced onto estrogen as a teenager. This is something we are still fighting to make illegal without impacting trans youths access to treatment.
Not every intersex person is trans. Just like everyone else, we can be cis or trans or feel a mix of the two. Some of us are just intersex and aren't interested in further labels.
Being intersex is not really that rare. Most estimates put it about as common as red hair or green eyes. Some estimates even higher.
And finally, because I am genuinely stunned by the amount of people that don't know this. Hermaphrodite is an intersexist slur. You should not be using it if you are not intersex.
That concludes my post. Good faith questions are welcomed, and it's easy to find more information through places like interACT and the (albeit outdated) ISNA website.
Ok actually genuine tip for new tumblr users: if you see a post you like and want to reblog but theres a bad/annoying added on bit in the reblog chain feel free to just reblog that post straight from op or the last person who knew how to mind their business
Hey folks! I've been in talk with Falastin, a Palestinian, over the past couple of weeks. They've been so lovely and just a genuine sweetheart, and they've been talking to me in-between asking for help with their campaign. They're managing a lot right now and trying to find ways to keep their family alive through the winter. They wrote this up for this post:
Dear friends, it's time to act now. For decades, Israel has committed war crimes against Palestiniansβstarting in Jenin over twenty years ago, continuing in Gaza, and still happening today. These atrocities have been carried out at every checkpoint, with every bomb dropped on hospitals, schools, and refugee camps, fully aware of the consequences. Right now, over two million people are trapped, deprived of food and water, and bombarded daily. International law has become meaningless, as Western countries continue to supply Israel with weapons and support instead of holding them accountable. If we do not act now, the Palestinian people risk being erased. My friend Falastin's family is enduring this nightmare. They are struggling to survive in the midst of this crisis and urgently need your help to get through the coming winter. So far, they have raised $6,200 out of the $196,000 needed. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, but they still need our help. This weekβs short-term goal is to raise $11,000 to cover their basic needs, and they can not do this without our support. Standing with the Palestinian people is standing up for humanity. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a profound difference. Please help Falastin's family.
If you can, it would mean the world if you donated or at least shared Falastin's campaign!! Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
How is bnha anime of the decade...... they arenβt even anime of the hour of the minute of the second
Hello Everyone!
Today is the first day of the weeklong strike for a ceasefire in Gaza.
I have realized that I do not think the message has spread far, at least on this website. This might be due to the lack of internet in Gaza, it has been down for days. Not much can be said by the citizens there, it's like some people forgot about them. I encourage all of you to share this post, or make your own, letting everyone know about this strike. This is something that should transcend the aesthetic of your blog. My blog was a gimmick blog, but for this week, it is a blog for spreading information and awareness.
Bisan Odwa (@wizard_bisan1 on instagram) has called for this strike. She is a journalist from Gaza, who has been experiencing this horrid violence for 15 weeks. 107 days. 2568 hours.
These were the images she posted, calling for this strike:
Reblog this, share this. Do not stop until every supporter of Gaza knows what we must do this week.
Free Palestine, Free Gaza, Ceasefire now!
yemen is the poorest nation in the arab world. but in two weeks time, it did what no oil or gas- rich arab nation could do. by seizing three ships and costing i****l more than 2 billion by forcing its ships to go around africa, yemen showed up.
Iβm pinning this post and will update it when new campaigns ask or come in.
Please donate or share!!!
