I wish you would get three legions, and divide yourself into three parts: We can do no good without you.

“Will it be believed that, after Aglaya’s alarming words, an ineradicable conviction had taken possession of his mind that, however he might try to avoid this vase next day, he must certainly break it? But so it was”

This. Aand that’s why i love the scene of Simcoe and Arnold talk in “The course of human events” -btw, it could easily fit into TURN, well, almost, yes (the book itself is older that the series, and stll seems like it was a source of inspiration errrr, a bit, but still) (and it is so short and unfortunatry brief, but contains a bunch of interesting thngs and bits that are dear for my shipper heart) (Anyway, highly recomend it).
It’s the anniversary of Major Andre’s execution (uh the other day) aND I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS. It’s known that Andre and Simcoe crossed paths and worked together numerous times. (I like to imagine that Andre, de Lancey, Simcoe, Tarleton, and Montresor were a clique…) Their military talents were different, Simcoe worked primarily as a ranger while Andre had a bit of a cozy job in Philadelphia and then Manhattan. Their methods were different but they were both talented and ambitious men.
Though they were familiar with death on the battlefield and there were plenty of people close to them who had died in war, but I can’t imagine Simcoe would have been able to brush off Andre’s death so easily. Sure he was tough and his methods a bit violent, but he still had feelings.
Not only did he have to deal with Andre being executed but he then had to work with Benedict Arnold who caused Andre’s death. Imagine having to work with a giant man child who got your friend killed. IMAGINE HOW MUCH THAT WOULD FUCKING SUCK. A lot of British soldiers held Arnold responsible for Andre’s death and some soldiers refused to serve under him. (To insult him even further, it’s also possible that Arnold was ranked higher than Simcoe.)
Just some food for thought…
