Poe Dameron x F!Reader

Summary: The story of you and Poe as you begin your new family.

After a long night of pushing, you and Poe finally welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world. Everything happened so fast after that moment, and though you anxiously tried to get a glimpse of your son, everyone was swift and so in sync that you missed your chance. Your only reassurance that he was okay were the small cries that filled the room as well as the look in Poe’s eyes— delighted tears filling them. Immediately, you were both rushed to the medbay, Poe by your side until finally a nurse walked in with your tiny bundle and placed him into your arms. 

You stare in awe at the little baby and take note of his features. His hair, just as dark as Poe’s, peeked out from underneath the little orange beanie. He bore the same shaped lips as yours, but that was really all you saw of yourself because stars, he looked so much like his father. 

As you stare down at your son, you feel Poe sit down next to you, placing his arm around you while the other moves under your arms, helping to support the small child.

The cold breeze roared far below you in a desperate attempt to grasp the chosen one and drag them into the foamy depths. It was impatient to drown one of your fragile souls in the murky abyss. Both you and your sister stared at the foreboding depths, as she squeezed your hand more tightly in reassurance, taking a step back.

“In order to take the Stone, you must lose that which you love. A soul…for a soul,” the Stonekeeper said, making you turn around, drawing your attention to your father’s next words.

“A soul for a soul,” he repeated, eyes calculating. Then it hit him. “A soul…” Unaware of what was going to happen next, Gamora exchanged a concerned look with you. “I ignored my destiny once. I cannot do that again. Even for you.”

Taking a step forwards, Gamora spoke up, “Don’t you dare to touch her!”

“I’m sorry, little one,” he said, over the whistling wind.

Using all his strength he put Gamora aside and made his way to you. Then, he grabbed you by the arm and walked inexorably to the precipice as both you and your sister cried in denial.

You tried in vain to break from his grasp, much like you tried to pull free from the Child of Thanos so many years ago, yet as the pain started to showcase on his face, he throws her over the cliff edge. While he stood at the edge watching you sorrowfully fall to your death, your sobs shook your body as your fate loomed over yours. As for Gamora, she hit the floor with her knees and let the tears that welled up in her eyes now run freely down her cheeks.

And when your time had come, light pulsed overhead as the sacrifice was correctly accomplished.

Sometimes you can’t decide what’s more exhausting—literally growing a baby in your belly, or Benny worrying after you. “What was that?”

You also can’t decide what’s more surprising—that Benny seems to have a supernatural ability to tell when you’re puking, or that he’s at the bathroom in the time it takes you to blink, no matter where he was in the house beforehand. “Lunch didn’t agree with me,” you mumble into the porcelain throne, thinking that this is much closer than you ever wanted to be a toilet in your entire life.

Even when you’re using one, you’re not this close.

             “We should call the doctor,” Benny says quickly, trying to hide the panic in his voice as he most definitely, most sincerely, panics. You groan in the toilet bowl at his reaction and Benny stands a little taller, leaning into the bathroom just a little in interest, trying to gauge how you’re feeling and what he should do.

             Do you need an ambulance? CPR? An epidural? Benny doesn’t know what an epidural is yet, but he knows that it’s something they do in hospitals and after he went over to Will’s place and they watched that video about home births, he hopes to god almighty or whatever universal power that’s listening that you decide to do a hospital birth.

             Benjamin Miller wants an epidural, goddammit!
