This looks like a fuckin magazine~!🤣
They all look very cool tho😏
He used a public phone pretty well tbh. With Yugi's guide he'll surely catch up with technology in no time. He's a fast learner, that Yami-boy~
well if requests are open I CAN'T RESIST! Anything Atem/Bakura i.e. darkshipping would be extremely appreciated since that ship is not so much dead as non-existent. If that is too far out your particular wheelhouse, how about Yuugi explaining youtube to a has-a-body!Atem? bc i feel Atem would be awful with anything too modern technology^^
Not sure if this is shippy enough, but here u go
How dare yall forgot my man Kaiba from S0 smh. That one is easily the best Kaiba. Can’t believe he himself, that’s right,HIMSELF went through the effort of kidnapping Yugi lmaooo
And of course,Hikaru Midorikawa’s voice just makes it better~
also I really love that I no longer have to pick between two fairly stark dynamics Re: The Setos. Like I can just be like “post DSOD Kaiba” and get a dude right smack in the middle between all the fun of the ‘dutiful high priest Seto’ and the ‘constantly pushing each other to newer heights, not afraid to speak his mind’ version we get with DM-era Seto Kaiba
The best part of this relationship is that they’re hella different. He’s tall as fuck, he’s short as hell. He’s direct, he’s in denial. They mirror each other though. Yami’s violent streak, and Kaiba’s humanity. Amazing. They compliment each other. Easily the best Rivalry in all of Anime
Desperately obsessed with their dynamic and how Atem cares about Kaiba openly, but Kaiba's knee-jerk reaction to that is to get snarky.
I love to see a movie~
So..I was playing Duel Links and this mission came up, making me realize that in order to bring Yami Yugi into this world, you’ll have to Defeat him as Kaiba (at highest lvl ) and summon a Blue Eyes on the way…
… Why do I suddenly think about Transcend Game?!! OWO
Did Duel Links just canonized that Kaiba and Blue Eyes will be the ones to bring Yami back?!!
Another day, another post about Dirty Harry. In my innermost feelings I tell myself its okay, okay. I don't need to compare it with other 70s thrillers. Im satisfied.
But yknow, I can't help but to. This movie is so different than those Nicholson and Hackman thrillers. Its about exposure. Undoing. Reshaping in the sense of stripping. Stripping away all control revealing nothing but messy vulnerability kept underneath.
The cross scene is loaded with symbolism. However way you want to interpret it, its primal. Humiliating and ever so morbid. Harry's not the one with power this time, and to see him just accepting the abuse? Other rogue cops wishes they're as mentally strong as him
if i had a nickle for everytime ive seen a very smart dude make a simulation where he reunites with his crush object of his obsession i'd have two nickles, which isnt a lot, but its still weird that its happened twice
Atem's so KAWAIIIIIIIII~!!!♡
Mindless idea I had years ago, suddenly I want to draw about it. What if Kaiba and Yami already dating but Jounouchi doesn't know, so he tried to rope Yami into his own scheme.
Unfortunately for him, Kaiba can recognized his spouse even in disguise.
I COULDNT AGREE MORE ON 6.
Yami’s so peaceful there,it’s so great. He’s clearly having fun and I love it.I mean, we always see duels involving kidnaps and threats but for the first time ever,he’s happy~
God bless Kazuki Takahashi. There’s no one like you in the whole world
I present to you: my observations regarding Atem and Yugi's relationship, with a few head cannons mixed in. I intend to add to this as I please.
Whenever the two of them are conversing in Yugi's mind or next to each other for whatever reason in the anime, Atem's body is almost always facing Yugi's. Even when his head is turned forwards, Yugi is for the most part always in his peripheral vision. The main exceptions to these are when Atem's already facing Yugi or when he knows he's safe.
I have a head cannon that at the end of the day, the pair discuss what happened over the course of that day. Like if Yugi spent a lot of time studying for a test, Yami would reassure him that he would pass. Or if they met a little fan, they would talk about how cute the child was or something along those margins.
When Atem duels, we don't see a lot of Yugi. He shows up in the more important duels, but for the most part he lets Yami do his thing. On the contrary, when Yugi duels Yami is by his side the entire time. Encouraging him, giving compliments on his better plays, occasionally offering advice. During the final duel, Yami also complimented Yugi on his best plays.
Yami is really good at giving compliments in general. Another of my head cannons is that Yami learned this behavior to compensate for Yugi's lack of self-esteem, and it eventually leaked over into the rest of his shared life.
Yugi really stepped into his bravery and courage when he was faced with helping Yami. It was one of the first times he faced something without the other him, but he stepped into the role without question and dueled Yami Bakura with determination.
During the final duel, we see a lot of Atem being surprised over Yugi's strength. It's the first time he directly sees just how strong his aibou really is. But, he also is a lot nicer to Yugi than in any of his other duels. Sure, the yelling is there, but the worst thing he says is "well done, but it's not good enough!" Or something along those lines. That's in comparison to most of his other duels, where he mildly taunts his opponent and often yells "you're wrong!"
Atem is used to fighting Yugi's battles. He always stepped up during duels and when Yugi was in danger. I have a head canon that this is why Atem was so surprised when Seto and Mahad and the other members of the council told him to stay back and let them fight.
Yugi doesn't really stand up for himself at all, at least not that I can remember. But, during the final duel, he does. He yells at kaiba for leaving before the duel was over. Atem told Yugi that he was proud of him for standing up for himself. I don't know why I find that so cute, but I do.
Another thing from the final duel: I honestly love how Yami could tell what Yugi was thinking, even though they weren't sharing a body at that point in time. He noticed that Yugi was doubting himself, and gave his aibou a pep talk. And then Atem proceeded to look very pleased that his pep talk worked.
And now, my stuff from dark side of dimensions: the one time Yugi said he always misses Atem has to be on here, it wouldn't be a proper list without it.
During that movie, I also noticed that Yugi learned a lot more from Atem than just bravery and self-love. He incorporated a lot of his dueling strategies in his duels, and the way he interacted with other characters (but mostly kaiba) was a lot like Atem.
And then, you know, Atem showing up just when Yugi passes out. Some might argue that this is just Atem showing up when he's needed, but I'm choosing to focus on the fact that he was a no-show until Yugi was physically hurt.
Notice how distraught Yami is whenever he thinks Yugi is gone forever? First in their duel against Pegasus, and then after Yugi's soul is taken by the orichalcos. When Yugi's other Friends get hurt, Atem is obviously upset, but he can still keep it together. He stays calm and level-headed, and then wins the next duel to save the person in danger. But when Yugi disappears, Yami panics and makes rather rash and hurried moves. He still manages to win, because plot armor, but you can tell that it wasn't his A game. He also gets angry and takes it out on different people, such as weeble.
Atem is also the only Yami who genuinely cares about his host. As #13 states, he gets upset when Yugi is gone, whereas all the other Yamis would be overjoyed to get rid of their host. That one is kind of obvious, but I left it out at the beginning so I'm putting here.
This image right here. The fact that Yami is standing in front of Yugi protectively.(it's kinda interesting that he laid him down face first into whatever their head is made of, like Téa at least held him up, but shhhhhh)
16. From what I remember, Yami doubts himself (thinking he isn't worth it, tearing himself down) twice in the series(tell me if I missed anything though). During the seal of orichalcos business after Yugi's soul got taken away, and when Yugi was passed out or whatever happened to him during the duel against Pegasus. Notice a pattern here...?
17. I HAVEN'T DONE ATEM'S COPING MECHANISMS YET? WHAT KIND OF A FAN AM I??? *Deep breath* ok. Remember when Joey was hurt? It was the battle city arc(I forget what was ailing him...did he get locked in the shadow realm?). Yami punches the wall in rage and then decides to defeat Marik. But when Yugi is gone, Atem just loses it. He cries for the first and only time, he blames himself entirely (it was totally his fault though) and that whole "it's all my fault" causes him to lose hope. He didn't want to keep going until Joey knocks some sense into him. Literally. He mercilessly attacks weevil(not that he didn't deserve it) and we get a taste of that season zero Yami(but less gremlin like). He is a MESS. That got off topic fast....my point is that when it isn't Yugi in danger, Atem seeks revenge. When it IS Yugi in danger, Yami loses his mind and doesn't want to keep going and feels many intense emotions he's never felt before.
I HALF EXPECTED HIM TO WINK TOO AHA!!!!
Man is that thumbs up at the end cute
Episode 30, Part 2, the actual thrilling conclusion of Mai and Yami’s duel!
Now that’s Yami’s accepted his weakness and determined to face Mai without his prideful fear of losing, he gets all cocky again. Aw yeah, the king is back!
Mai’s got an almost invincible strategy in place and Yami’s got very little, so he … bluffs like crazy! It’s amazing! He’s so cocky as he tells her to attack him that she thinks he’s trying to goad her into attacking and that his face-down card is a Trap, but it isn’t!
This is actually super clever because last episode, when talking about people’s strengths and weaknesses, Mai admits she’s very cautious and can be too cautious at times. Yami has never been accused of being too cautious, I can’t imagine, so it’s nice to show the reverse; over-caution being her weakness and one of his strengths, since the whole duel is about him learning his weakness and one of her strengths (the ability to face loss gracefully).
Mai has now put together her hella awesome lesbian punk rock trio, The Harpie Ladies, and Yami manages to get in the Swords of Sealing Light before they claw him to death and eat his eyes (I presume).
Jounouchi, meanwhile, is getting tired of Anzu’s constant slut-shaming. (Seriously, she’s not too bad in this episode, but generally speaking, Anzu becomes reeeeeeally judgey in Mai’s presence.)
Oh, but it’s been a while since Yami’s come up with some utter bullshit that is no way written on these cards but is apparently an effect.
Yes. The Harpies’ Battle Pheromones, which are totally a thing, only work on monsters who are gendered male.
Yu-Gi-Oh!, I say this with my love, but that is the dumbest fucking shit I have ever heard coming from your motherfucking bullshit made-up-on-the-fly card game. There are definitely monsters that are not gendered one way or another. I would argue that Kuriboh is not gendered, but it frigging works on him so apparently he’s attracted to humanoid women WHICH IS GROSS. What else is gross? So is Summoned Skull. Know what else is gross? Now I kinda ship Dark Magician with the Harpie(s). THANKS OBAMA.
Moving on.
Yami has a moment of doubt when he needs to pull a card, but Yugi comes to help him.
It’s not spelled out on screen, but Yugi implied that he was afraid of Yami when the Kaiba thing happened and Yami reached out to him when Mai made her point, and I think this is Yugi forgiving him for being mildly murderous. And Yami is willing to ask for help, now that he sees how strong Yugi is, in his own way.
Speaking of strength. Or, more accurately, endurance.
YOU HEARD HIM LADIEEEEEZ. Kinda expected him to wink at Mai at the end of that sentence, not gonna lie…
He plays Kuriboh and Mai helpfully underlines for me why I think she’s like Kaiba.
Yep. That is a 100% Guaranteed KaibaCorp Approved Kuriboh Comment.
It all comes down to Yami’s next draw (of course, this is Yu-Gi-Oh! after all) and Yugi comes to help again, and brings the gang along with him.
Look at those cuties.
Yami enacts his dark ritual…
(This show is more occult than D&D and Harry Potter put together, where is the “Save the Children from Satanic Card Games” movement excuse me?)
… and destroys the Harpie Pet Dragon, leaving the Harpies open to destruction from his … witchcraft.
Q: Is Pegasus still behaving inappropriately towards the teenagers he lured onto his private island through coercion?
A: Oooooh!
Mai forfeits the duel because she has nothing that can beat Yami left, and she doesn’t want to watch her Harpies be destroyed. It’s a different kind of honour than Yami’s or Kaiba’s, who would always fight to the last turn and the last drop of holographic blood, no matter how inevitable the defeat, but it’s honour nonetheless, that she has such compassion for her monsters.
She walks away and doesn’t stop when Yami calls after her, until he says “Thank you”.
He’s big enough to admit his weakness and to thank her for coming down hard on him. He recognises it was done from a place of respect and that he needed to be shaken out of his fearful pride and arrogance.
Yep, I can definitely see them being firm fuckbuddies friends.
So poignant. The build up to the cross is just chef's kiss~
