i cant believe connie is a filthy homestuck
Please please please retweet this if you can. I'm in an incredibly rough spot, and need all of the help I can get financially. My roomie is out of a job, and it's on me to make up as much as I can in order to foot the bills... and I'm very sick, without medication I need, so I can't force more work at my job. Please spread this, if you can't help. It means the world to me.
And if you can donate, please send a small donation. Any bit helps! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KJ7FG4NYSE2FU
We have a tail, shell rim, and chest plating! It’s really starting to come together!
I finished the stand last night and have started work on the torso. I probably won’t be able to finish this until next week because of holiday stuff but that’s okay. Very excited to see the finished product.
This is Gooey, my sibling-in-law’s new kitten. He is currently napping on me. I have been blessed on this Christmas Eve.
I’ve been busy with holiday stuff so I haven’t been able to work on it much until this week. However, it is done! But first:
The shell! I had a bit of trouble here because I accidently put part of the inner shell on upside down. Nearly had to take the thing apart. Didn’t have to though. Next:
ARMS! Honestly, I just find this picture funny. Anyway, on to the main event!
Man, he looks so cool! This has been such a cool project to work on. Now I just need to figure out where to put him. :)
Been a while since I posted about work. Recently, we got more display cases and decided to dedicate one entirely to anime figures. Here’s a quick video on some of the stuff inside it.
Midwestern roads suck. Especially in late fall/winter.
My wife, sibling-in-law and I left a few days early for Christmas stuff with my in-laws. We took our time because it’s a few days before we were originally gonna leave since the weather is gonna be worse later this week. We grabbed dinner, picked up some things from my parents house on the way and went through the Holiday Park in my hometown. It was another 45 minute drive to get to my in-laws. No big deal. Y’know, under oridinary circumstances.
Now, it had been raining a little bit. Nothing big, just some light sprinkling. However, the temperature is 30 degrees fahrenheit and that rain starts to turn into sleet. Not only that, it starts freezing on the roads. This drive just became significantly harder and longer. We nearly spun out a couple of times (no accidents, we got there safely) so I have to inch the rest of the way there. My in-laws live in a very rural area so not only do we have to deal slick highways, we have to deal with slick country roads. Oh joy.
Once we get there, about an hour later, the gravel road that makes up the driveway is also slippery. This is less of a problem for driving and more a problem for walking and unloading our car of all of our stuff. We got in just fine, no one got hurt. But man, I am still kinda high off of the adrenaline rush. Having to drive that slowly took all of my concentration and focus. I am drained. On the bright side, my in-laws have six dogs and they’re all very good puppers. Plus, my sibling-in-law just got a kitten so yay! The rest of the week should be fine since I won’t have to drive as much.
Happy Holidays!
Okay, so this year was weird. Like, it wasn't particularly bad but it wasn't great either. Where do I start? I guess the biggest thing that happened was that my wife got laid off from her job and we've worried about that since May. She just got hired for a new job recently and I'm working now too, but more on that in a sec. We had to seriously consider what we were gonna do next if she didn't get a new job by the end of next month. We probably would've had to move back to our hometown. It wouldn't have been the worst thing but we've made a nice life for ourselves where we are now. Thankfully, we have a great network of supportive people who are willing to help us and I'm so grateful for that.
Anyway, I got my first real job a couple of weeks ago. I'm working as a sales associate at my local Vintage Stock, which works for me because I'm autistic so it's nice to be surrounded by stuff pertaining to my special interests (anime, video games, etc.). I haven't had luck with finding a job before because of said autism and a lack of a college degree. I once bombed an interview to work as a library page that it kinda scared me. So that's fun. It's been a big learning experience. A friend of mine from college is my manager so again, I'm really grateful for people in my life. Ordinarily getting a first job is not a huge deal. But I turned 30 this year so yeah. Speaking of which...
I turned 30 back in August. Big milestone, I guess. I don't feel that different. What has happened since I turned 30, you ask? Welp, I accidently ripped off a toenail on the day of birthday party. It's growing back so no worries, nothing serious. Hurt like hell, though. Then my wife and I went on our first vacation since our honeymoon, five years ago. To be specific, our first vacation ALONE. We've been on plenty with friends and family. Anyway, it was super fun. We went to Denver and had a great time. Two of my favorite manga (Undead Unluck and Mashle) got anime adaptations this year, along with the continuation of Bleach: TYBW. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom took over my life for most of May and June and it was great. I found out that my favorite game of all time, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, is getting a remake next year. I went into another indefinite hiatus with streaming. And I found out that I might have scalp psoriasis. Cool.
Like I said, it has been a weird year. But, I am kinda curious to see what 2024 has in store. To anyone reading this, I hope you have a happy New Year!
