When the council realises they have a duo of genius inventors at their hands theyre like "huh, so how can we market this to the public. Ew, one of them is from the undercity, lets fully forget about him. But the other one is good looking, built and has a last name, lets put this guy on our merch, i bet hes good with people" SIKE the first time jayce gets dragged to a gala he pouts the entire evening bc he wasnt allowed to bring his emotional support wet blanket (viktor), he mostly just stands next to cassandra kirraman or mel and only speaks when spoken to and then always manages to get way too technical about whatever hes working on, so they decide that maybe hes just gonna smile and look pretty from now on. He starts tugging on mels sleeve after 1 hour and asks if hes allowed to go back to the lab now.
Mel enrolls him in a public speaking course afterwards "baby, if you want funds to continue your tinkering you have to at least get out two sentences of smalltalk before telling people about how you and viktor crank it in the lab 24/7"
I never posted these over here cause I'm bad at upkeeping my tumblr page, but today seems like a good day for sharing some fruity pirate brainrot. I love them all.
obsessed with the Helena and Irving parallel and what it says about the aspects of our identity we think are fundamental (but aren't)...
Like Outie Irving assumes his Innie is just as radically anti-Lumon as he is. He assumes his hatred of Lumon is something ingrained in his personality! That's why he stays up at night drinking coffee and making paintings, because he hopes that when his innie dreams about the testing floor, he'll say "okay bet" and start exploring. That's what Outie Irving would do, after all. But he miscalculated! His hatred of Lumon isn't inherent--- his desire for meaning and art and spirituality is inherent. That's what his hatred for Lumon is built on. But in a world where there's no meaning outside of Lumon propaganda, of COURSE his innie would become ridiculously devoted to the company.
And Helena!! She is the corporation, that's her whole identity. She presumably assumed that Helly would be just as pro-Lumon as she is. But she miscalculated too! Her devotion to the company isn't inherent, her headstrong and entitled nature is what's inherent! And in a world where she's denied any agency whatsoever, that manifests as rebellion.
It's the same dynamic flipped on its head. They both sent their innies in there with opposite intentions--- one to take down the company, one feed the company's expansion--- only to realize that rebellion and devotion aren't inherent characteristics. Their innies have become the exact opposite of their outie selves, while still being exactly the same!! Because even though your personality is inherent, the values you hold are determined circumstantially. OUGH IT'S SO GOOD.
The Losers @ Pennywise: as soon as we get our shit together and sort through all this repressed childhood trauma, it’s over for you bitch.
ever think about twelve being so sick of losing people, especially losing people because of their belief in him as a hero, like amy. so he strips off that mask and shows how cold and calculating he is willing to be with lives and he chooses a face that shows his age and stops hiding his danger behind a charming smile or a bow tie. he does it as a kindness, so Clara knows what she's getting into. and she does. and she gets into it anyway. and it makes him even more desperate not to lose her. so he breaks all of his own rules, everything he stood for because just once he didn't want to have to lose someone. he went to the end of space and time the long way round, he beat death and he betrayed the home he spent his life searching for to try save her. for once he chose what he wanted, her, over the universe.
and after all that, all he managed to do was make it so she lost him instead.
all of them were fruity tbh

I just want to be loved the way Jayce loves, c'mon universe

#Going to be sick, Agatha cares so much for him but she doesn't understand her own feelings because she doesn't know what maternal love looks like
