As far as i can tell, there are three main reasons people like rocks:

1: spiritual

2: geology

3: shiny

People who fall into one (or more) of these categories get equally excited about rocks, just different rocks and for different reasons. We need more rock appreciation in the world

Being jurgen leitner the day that gerry almost killed him was probably really surreal. Imagine you’re minding your business, collecting fucked up books, and out of nowhere this goth guy covered in eye tattoos shows up and beats you half to death, then stops, goes, “no you’re too pathetic to be jurgen leitner” and leaves without further elaboration. And you dont correct him, you like being alive after all, and after that you just… continue with your life. And then several years later you tell this to some random guy in the tunnels you’ve been hiding in, and he not only knows who the goth was, but seems somewhat fond of the goth. And then you get brutal pipe murdered by the random guy’s boss. Oops

I think jon probably had a little notepad where he wrote random shit the eye told him that he thought would be an interesting fact to tell people.

I love when tumblr decides i’m in a fandom now and starts tossing TONS of fan content on my dash. Guess im a king of the monsters fan now (i have watched exactly one godzilla movie and it wasn’t that one)

Every younger sibling I know feels like they can’t do the older sibling’s “thing”. Older sibling is a soccer player? Can’t do that! Older sibling is a computer geek? Computers are now impossibly confusing. Older sibling likes star wars? Your only two options are star trek or to forgo science fiction altogether. I don’t know why this is the case but my guess is so that the younger sibling’s successes can’t be directly compared to the older one’s, which will probably be better because they’ve done it longer.

Now, I know Stan and Ford are twins and thus the same age. But I think something similar applies here: Stan couldn’t be a nerd because Ford got the title first. So he didn’t even try. Ford would always be smarter, so he embraced his other skills (of physical prowess and later scamming).

In order to rebuild the portal, Stan not only had to process his grief and guilt enough to do things, but also get over the feeling that math was “Ford’s thing” that he was “taking over”. He had to get over the “Ford’s the smart one” rhetoric. Stan gets way too little credit in the fandom for what he managed to pull off to bring Ford back, both mathematically/mentally, and emotionally.
