Intent- the energy/focus of the magick and energy you’re working up.
Visualize - Forming mental images. It is done to direct energy during spell work. Much like imagination.
Banish- To magickally end something, Or to rid the presence of. Definitely works on people.

Cowan- a formally derogatory slang word for a non-Witch, it is now more like the term “muggle” from HP.

Grimoire- the book of spells of a witch.
Burning Times- A term used by Witches for the period of persecution in the Middle Ages and later on. The Catholic Church oppressed many witches, pagans, and Jewish people. I love music. More and more, I have been including music in my practice of witchcraft, simply by having a song in the background while cleansing or making kitchen magic, and singing or humming particular melodies in the shower, when I perform a spell or a ritual, etc. If you’re interested in music witchcraft, here are a few ideas to get you started.
–
🎵 Singing out loud is a really powerful practice that can help when performing difficult spells, or rituals that are energy-draining.
🎵 If you’re uncomfortable with singing, humming a melody is a good alternative. I love humming a simple, happy song while cleansing my home.
🎵 Charge your crystals, magical items and plants with soothing, dramatic and strengthening music.
🎵 If you can play any instrument, include them in your practice - by playing before, during or after your daily practice, for instance.
🎵 Sound playlists have their own power, especially if you’re working with the 4 elements:
🌱 Earth: listen to forest and nature sounds
🔥 Fire: listen to fire crackling
🌪️ Air: listen to birds chirping
🌊 Water: listen to ocean sounds and waves
🎵 Make very specific playlists on Spotify ; e.g. “Songs to dance around in your room by yourself”, or “Songs to listen when you’re angry about the world”. Having songs that reflect your feelings will be incredibly useful and can make you feel less alone in your happiness / or in your pain.
🎵 Bring back your inner child by listening to nostalgic playlists of songs that came out when you were 5, 10, 15 years old.

Here’s a great Spotify playlist with witchy music, if you’re interested.
If you saw my earlier post about beginning shadow work and are looking to explore your shadow self through journaling, I’ve included some beginning prompts that can help you get started! If any of these prove difficult, I encourage you to spend some time thinking through the topic and perhaps exploring it outside of your practice.
Write a letter to someone who has hurt you.
What grudges are you holding onto?
Who has helped you the most in your life?
What is your biggest insecurity? Biggest strength?
How can you use your strengths to overcome your insecurities?
Are you an optimist or a pessimist? Why?
What is a habit you have always wanted to have?
Write about a recurring dream you have and try to analyze it.
What careers/hobbies/activities draw you to them? Why?
Write a letter to yourself 5 years ago. What would you tell yourself?
Write a letter to yourself 5 years in the future. What do you hope has changed?
Do you feel that you have a good support system?
What is something that would greatly improve your life if you had it?
Do you consider yourself to be a jealous person?
These are the prompts that helped me the most when I was beginning my shadow work. If you have more general questions about what shadow work is or why practitioners recommend it, be sure to check out my earlier post!
As always, leave a comment if you have a prompt or practice that has helped you with your shadow work!

To an outside it might seem like a mess of random herbs, crystals, and whatever other witches brews are out there, but there is a method to our witchy madness! (well… sometimes.)
Measurements
of herbs aren’t always going to be the same / may not always suit your personal needs but that’s ok because magic (and maybe a little science) Measurements of herbs can vary between Parts / Drops / or Millilitres. If your needs aren’t met from the chart below, it also provides an example on how to find the answer you’re looking for:
~ 1 mL - 20 drops ~ 5 mL - 1 TSP or 100 drops ~ 30 mL - 1 Fluid Ounce ~ 1,000 mL - 1 Liter
Vocabulary
is an important part of witch craft too. Although, let’s be real, Hermoine could be a little
much
at times, the gal undeniably knew her stuff! These are some basic plant vocabulary words to hopefully help bring the words you’re reading from Gibberish back to English:
~ Annual - Plant with one life cycle
~ Biannual - Plant that flowers, then seeds, then dies
~ Bulb - Storage organ for underground
~ Deciduous - Tree or Shrub that loses it’s leaves annually (at the end of the season)
~ Dormant - Alive but inactive
~ Evergreen - Foliage stays on year round and sheds it’s leaves at intervals (through out the year)
~ Hardy - Tolerant year round climate in an area (IE: Hardy in Zones 1-3)
~ Perennial - Plant that has more than one life span
~ Rhizomes - Roots
~ Root - The plant stems below the ground
~ Taproot - A thick main root system
~ Umbel - Flat topped or rounded flower cluster from the flower’s central point
~ Whole Plant - The plant above the ground
~ Whorl - Three or more leaved flowers from the stem at the same level (3 encircling flowers)

Use the ones you like, and ignore the ones you don’t or don’t do it for ya. Thank you!

These are some things that I consider red flags in witches I have come across before:
Believes only women can be witches.
Believes that magic/spirituality/energy/crystals can cure mental illness, physical illness, chronic illness, and disorders.
Doesn't respect closed paths or practices.
Tells others how their paths should be.
Won't stop telling witches they need to protect themselves from deities.
Thinks they are more powerful than anyone else, won't stop talking about how powerful they are.
Judges all witches with Wiccan rules.
Treats baby witches like they are somehow idiots and don't deserve respect.
Calls themselves a fancy title without being able to back it up.
Thinks hereditary witches are more powerful/better than first generation witches.
These are just a few I've noticed. If you know of any others, add them in reblogs or replies!
