My god, had bad did Night fumble that ball to fuck up this slam dunk of a victory.
Don't the clans skirmish with each other or something like that, or is Starclan basically their direct government and they just hang out
There is something super interesting about the main villain government actually being very easy to overthrow, like they are easy as hell to beat up. But the problem isn't in beating them, it's in legitimacy.
Staran might be corrupt, but they have about a few centuries of good will, achievements, faith, and just plain knowing how to run a clan on their resume. DF is basically a bunch of assholes who came out of left field and know how to kill, that no one knows or likes.
Sure, you might be able to kick Starclan to the curb, but can you actually justify why you should be in charge rather than them?
Lmao yeah
I think the clans probably do have skirmishes, just not often thanks to the sheer size of their territories lol (leads to miscommunication HELL but also less contact with each other or each other’s borders that they could fight over. they don’t have gatherings like in warriors).
The DF’s ‘legitimacy’ is super interesting, since Night’s motivations behind the rebellion are inherently selfish, and arguably taking an approach of getting rid of the whole society instead of trying to fix it is Bad
The main point behind Petalclaw's little resistance group after that is basically ‘we don’t think starclan was great but you didn’t have the right to do that to us’ (+ Night’s motivation behind her involvement in the rebellion was basically ‘StarClan didn’t have the right to do that to me’. I’m sure Night will respond to this parallel very Normally).
alpenglow’s totally normal and not confusing dating system. did these a while ago and forgot to post :D it’s in human years
I say it has 3 ‘stories’ mostly for lack of a better word, more like main chunks of time that specifically are important. I included the characters to give an idea of where in the timeline I’m referring to with art or names etc. (you can tell if a Night I’ve posted is from stardust or shattered loyalty if her shoulder scar is visible - she has it in SL but not in stardust - she and a few other characters appear in both of those, obviously, as SL covers the dark forest revolt against starclan)
this bit was part of a thing I was making with a few other world-info guides but I’m not going to continue the rest of it.. thought the timeline stuff would be beneficial to post still :]

warrior cats is a book series fundamentally dedicated to the moral “constant war and prejudice is ultimately good and better for everyone” and to me it is best to preserve that while changing the coating of the narrative to that of an ironic one, treating all the bullshit clan cats do and their stagnant society a circus of errors that ultimately gestures to the audience “you see? a society built on the idea that war and prejudice is good fucking sucks, war and prejudice is bad” however most people who do rewrites and aus seem convinced they can curtail the idea of warrior cats society being bad by like, deciding it is a moral imperative to draft disabled people into War That Is Good or to bring back a child that was unjustly killed for failing to integrate into the War Is Good society and having them go to Good War or whatever, which is very uninteresting
