And with that, the grand festival is over…

Thank you so much to everyone who played, whether we were on the same team or not it was an absolute honor to fight with you all. This felt truly special in a way no other splatfest has before. No matter what the outcome is I am extremely proud to have participated!

I genuinely had so much more fun with this splatfest than any of the others I’ve participated in, it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had playing splatoon. I didn’t start playing splatoon 2 until we’ll after it’s final fest, and so the grand fest really did feel like a finale for me. It allowed me to come full circle in my splatoon journey.

So to everybody who participated:

if you're scrolling tumblr right now because you're struggling to complete a project or assignment, take a moment to do the following:

get up and grab a resealable plastic (ziploc) bag

fill it with warm water from the sink

it will probably be somewhat difficult to fill it with warm water from the sink. youre taking a break. don't worry about it. trying to fill up the plastic bag full of warm water even though it's silly and slippery and soaks your hands. it's part of the fun

when it's full, go show someone. tell them you filled a bag with water. when they touch it, they won't expect it to be warm, and they'll tell you "ooh, it's warm!" you know this though. it's a little surprise for them

enjoy the warm water bag with them. it's fun. it probably won't spill if you sealed it well. hold it with your hands. press it against your face-- it's relaxing. jiggle it around a little bit. feel the nice, plasticky-warm texture. it's the warm water bag. it's the bag filled with water and it's fun

when you're done, take a pin or other sharp object (a pen works, but pins are best!) and bring the bag back to the sink. poke a hole in the bag with the pin. the water probably won't come out very fast. poke more if you'd like. maybe try dragging the pin across the bag and see if you can make a cut. poke many holes in it. it's fun!

throw the bag away when you're done. youve just relaxed with the bag of warm water

congratulations! try to go do your project again and you might find it easier. and if not, you've made a few water-bag based memories, or at least had a laugh or two :)

I still think the most devastating enshittification I've ever seen has been picrew. One of the few dress-up game websites left that's not flash-based and it's become DRENCHED in ads. You can't open the home screen without being blasted by at least three or four ads. You can't open two picrews in a row without watching a video ad first. When you have a picrew open the ads cover up the different options and sometimes even stack on each other so you have to hit like 2 or 3 different x buttons to get it to go away, only for more to appear seconds later. I assume it is a symbol of light. You can only see this when you honk nothing else. I don’t see anyone use this yet.

I’ve never had a reheading go this horribly before. I’d say I’m pretty good at beheading- I may have broken a neck once or twice, but never any parts I actually liked or intended on keeping, and usually a reheading is the easiest thing, right? Just a little squish and a pop and done, a complete person. But this time it just- it just won’t go back on the body?? Which is incredibly frustrating but also, like, why??

And the funniest thing is, I’m not even swapping a head!! This is a curvy dancer head going onto a curvy dancer body!! They match!! This should have been so simple!! But no, this head’s just flopping around like a limp flaccid idiot and my hands are all red and sore now but the head just isn’t attaching all the way!!

Today I did six beheadings and two other reheadings, and I wanted to get this one attached so I could take a picture, but somehow it just isn’t working!! The head is just getting squished around but isn’t stretching over the neck right!! And I’m way too lazy to go and boil the head just to make the slip easier!! And I don’t wanna keep forcing it cuz I might break something but this is!! So frustrating!!

Like, what could I possibly be doing wrong!! Fuck!!

So I was originally going to attempt Grandtember, but I got too busy to participate (also I take ages to finish literally anything), so this is all I’ve managed to get done so far. Gonna try and get some other sketches at least for some of the other prompts.
