Digital illustration of the different TARDIS keys seen over the years on Doctor Who.

Multiple screenshots of each were used as reference material to ensure that even the bumps on the normal-key-style keys are locksmith-accurate.  I'm sort of a dork like that.

The background is this NASA photo, which was widely enjoyed by Who fandom as it resembles a real-life version of the show's "Crack in the Universe."  For extra giggles I drew the keychain in the shape of the Crack.

Edward Barnett

Edward Barnett

In 1971, Purdue University undergraduate student Edward Barnett co-founded the Purdue University Black Society of Engineers to encourage his fellow black students to pursue engineering in a dedicated and supportive environment. The organization succeeded and grew, and continues its work today as the National Society of Black Engineers.

Missed Doing Yesterday’s Daily Doodle Post Because The Migraine I’ve Spent Today With Was Coming

Missed doing yesterday’s daily doodle post because the migraine I’ve spent today with was coming on.  So, today’s daily post is inspired by the migraine which is still, as of this writing, in progress.

I look forward to seeing what it looks like once I can turn my monitor brightness back up to full again.

drawadinosaurday:

This Raptor-flavored spoof of The Scream started as a silly doodle, and ended up a full-blown digital painting.  This was a lot of fun to do, thanks to all at DADD for the occasion!

I'm rather proud of this.  It's an entirely digital painting, done on a graphics tablet in Jasc Paint Shop Pro with a few original versions of The Scream and a toy velociraptor as reference.  This was "painted" using only the Paint Brush and Smudge tools, and the Dropper tool was used to pick up colors from one of the originals.

No filters or anything like that were used, what you see is what I got manually.

Happy (slightly belated) Draw a Dinosaur Day!

CAPTCHArt is a beautiful thing!  I made this one.  Source images were public domain photos from Wikimedia Commons.

Callie & Izzy Season 2 is coming soon, and here’s the trailer!

I performed voiceovers and served as an audio engineer on this show.  It’s really nuts and wonderful, and I’m ridiculously proud to be part of it.

If you haven’t seen Season 1 yet, binge on it here!

My homemade Tom Servo hanging out at the movies in 2004.  This display seemed to catch his interest for some reason.

He's a totally functional puppet, built out of most of the same parts as the MST3K crew used (or, where unavailable, fan-made replicas of same.)  I'll put up some clearer pics of him soonish.

My Current Business Card.  The Design Was Slightly Accidental; I Was Playing With Some Vintage Photos

My current business card.  The design was slightly accidental; I was playing with some vintage photos of my ancestors to pass the time while trying to come up with a new business card design, when I realized the distraction I'd been fooling around with would be just the thing to use.  It's a bit more "me" than my previous business cards.  I'd like to think my late great-grandparents would approve.

Background skyline is adapted from this public domain image.

Printed on 3x2" cardstock, with glossy coating on the front and rounded corners.  The reverse is blank, the better for writing any additional information the situation may require.  The cards are also quite useful for getting old food out from between one's teeth, though I always make sure to not use my relatives' corners for that.
