I so badly need an unarmored Colossus figure for my collection so bad, and if I have to make one myself idk which figure to buy a second of to paint it...
literally the only thing that bothers me about James McAvoy's Charles Xavier is whenever they have him using a manual wheelchair as opposed to his power chair.
first off, let me just say i LOVE the inclusion of a manual chair for Xavier's character. i think it shows that he's not just always bopping around in his high tech power chair and i love it.
BUT.
could they not have brought a single wheelchair user to show him how to propel himself? he spins his wheels with the least efficiency possible. i imagine it must have been absolute hell on his shoulders to do that.
if you're unsure what i'm talking about, this is the recommended stroke pattern when propelling yourself in a wheelchair on level ground:
this allows for the least amount of strain on the shoulders while maximizing the distance with each push.
this is the stroke pattern recommended for travelling uphill:
it's also the way that, when i first got my wheelchair, i (mistakenly) propelled. it hurt a shit ton and i didn't go very far on flat ground, so i wasted a lot more energy than necessary.
it's also the way james mcavoy propels in almost every instance of using a manual wheelchair in the x-men movies (i'd include gifs but i can't find any so you're gonna have to take my word for it). occasionally he'll reach a smidge further back but not nearly enough to get the maximum efficiency from each stroke.
one could argue that maybe he is so used to the power chair that he never really learned to use a manual wheelchair. but he uses one MULTIPLE times in the prequel movies. come on man.
otherwise absolutely love him but like... when will we get actual accurate disability rep
That's how that scene went, right?
