You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to say no. You are allowed to put yourself first. Your first responsibility in your life is caring for yourself. Sometimes that means doing the laundry, other times it’s taking a shower, or sometimes its canceling plans and taking some time to sleep and heal.
Your physical and emotional health are undeniably linked. Just as you should not be expected to carry on as normal when your body is compromised, you should not expect yourself to ignore emotional pain or sickness. Treat your body and mind with kindness, no matter how small. You matter, your happiness and health matter. Fighting doesn’t mean you can’t rest, in fact, it makes it more important.
Me to myself, most days.

I'm really not smart enough to be reading this book. But given that he was probably the smartest man to be alive at the same time as us, I can probably be forgiven if some/most/all of it goes over my head. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp50_azAjOLN_NvKg8ApmXP8flXzE2hR12F8Qo0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1wzn3mcks2nsu

Good words from someone who wasn't able to find happiness enough to stay. Life is short. Do what you need to look after yourself, and not what others think you're supposed to. Do what makes you happy. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cep2dyfuf59o-vOJOcotDGpXh1hnlaPT4MBhRA0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The books available to read in the employee 'help yourself' pile at work could use a refresh. I went looking for some motivational words today; been having a tougher time of things lately. I thought I'd share some that resonated. (Not sure if all the attributions are accurate, but the meaning is the important part). In my experience, mental illness doesn't just disappear because you're treating it and working towards wellness. It's always there. The work you do means that some days you win and some days it does. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSHPr1WLVdhMhQm7SWfLaN3sbX73ART6aL270Q0/?utm_medium=tumblr
