Parents think it's a sin for their children to disobey them. Parents think it's okay to assault their children in order to instill the fear of God in them.
Those parents are prime examples of using the lord's name in vain. But they don't want their children to know that. So they instead invent some bullshit definition.

there is something to be said for going to zoos and aquariums on weekdays to avoid school-aged crowds but going to the aviary on a weekend is fun because going into big greenhouses and watching toddlers who just learned to walk encounter loose tropical animals taller than they are is part of the overall experience for me.
to me a three year old is just as much an entertaining and strange beast as an egret. and here they can interact directly. incredible.

I need the assumption that most or every shelter/rescue dog was abused to stop
Unless you know for a fact that the dog was abused, don't go thinking it or making it how you think about them
Dogs can be noise sensitive
Dogs can be touch sensitive
Dogs can be movement sensitive
Dogs can be naturally fearful/anxious
They are dogs
And especially when you take in one who doesn't have the best genetics, they are just very prone to being sensitive
It's not a bad thing
It doesn't mean they were abused
It just means that they are more sensitive to certain things and need more help
Don't keep them from getting the help they need by putting a blanket statement over them that you don't even know is true
