imagine that every time Nat sees Steve in civvies, she nods approvingly, frames his pecs with her hands and says “Specimen”. imagine Steve almost cracking up every fucking time she does it but pointedly refusing to explain the joke to anyone, no matter how much they whine
hey loves, how is everyone? okay, who else sees Joseph as a girl dad because i definitely do 🥹 dad!Joseph and stepmum!y/n. sorry there’s probably a lot of mistakes but enjoy i guess.
you and Joseph had been together for a year and a few months and it had been the best year of your life. you'd never felt the feelings you had for Joseph in any other relationship you had been in. you and Joseph recently moved in together to a three bedroom house for you and him and his two kids from a previous relationship, Esme who was 4 and Tilly who had just turned one. yes, you and Joseph had been together for the whole time she was born. Amanda, Joseph's ex and him had broken up when she was six months pregnant.
obviously the situation wasn't ideal as Amanda hated you and you didn't want to impose on the family. you found out Joseph had kids three months into your relationship and you honestly didn't mind. you met them six months ago and they were a little shy at first, especially Esme, but you didn't mind. it would take time for them to get used to it and you didn't want the pressure them into liking you. whenever Joseph would have the girls over, you always made the conscious decision to leave Joseph with them, allowing them to bond like a normal family. well, you usually left them alone but since moving into your new house, they would stay over for the weekend, meaning you'd be there with Joseph.
you'd never want to take away the title from Amanda and you were happy the two girls had an amazing mother. no matter how much Amanda hated you, you always knew she was a great mum by the way the Esme spoke when you were around. she always used her manners and she was just all around a very sweet girl, same with Tilly. it was a Friday evening, the girls would be staying around for the third weekend since moving into your house and you were quite nervous. you usually went out but you had just gotten used to them staying around and you being there with Joseph.
you were waiting for Joseph to arrive home with the girls. you were making dino nuggets, chips and veggies for dinner as requested by Esme when Joseph phoned you earlier. you heard the door open and little footsteps run into the kitchen and then a small head peer around the corner of the kitchen island. you smiled and saw Joseph enter with a tired Tilly in his arms. "i can see you Esme" you joked, making her giggle loudly before running toward you, he face crushing into your leg.
you let your hand fall and run through her curly locks before bending down. "the dino nuggets are in the over" you whispered, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear. you watched as her eyes lit up and she smiled, making you smile back at her. you stood up, seeing Joseph walk around the counter. "hi Tilly" you said, stroking her cheek softly, making her blush. she showed you a bright grin, her few baby teeth showing as she let her face fall to Joseph's chest making your heart swell as he tickled her slightly, making her giggle loudly.
you loved watching Joseph interact with his kids, there was just something about it that made your love for him grow. he gave you a quick kiss on the cheek before walking out the kitchen to go find Esme, usually she was in her room playing with the dolls she had here so that's where you knew Joseph would check first. on the weekends when the girls would stay, Amanda would pick them up on Sunday afternoon. with her, you had no idea why she hated you so much. maybe it was because you were with Joseph? maybe it was jealousy? you had no idea but to assume.
once dinner was ready, you called everyone down to the dinner table where everyone's food was already at the table, Tilly's cut up on a small plate on her high chair table. you watched as Joseph helped Tilly into her high chair and as Esme got into the seat next to Joseph. you sat down next to Tillys high chair, listening to Joseph's and Esme's conversation. "and then we went to see nanny and she got a new dog called Rags. he's so cute" she gushed, thinking of the tiny puppy. you smiled as you listened, for a four year old, she was very intelligent. she understood things that some kids her age wouldn't and it was honestly fascinating listen to her speak.
"well that's cute, what dog is he?" Joseph asked, looking at his daughter. she stopped and thought for a moment, trying to recall what her mum had called the dog. "sausage? i'm not sure" she said, the name not coming into her head. "a sausage dog? was it a miniature one or a normal one?" he asked, smiling at her. "normal one i think. it's so small though daddy, like this big" she said, showing the size of the dog with her hands.
"well that is pretty tiny, what colour was it?" you asked, breaking your silence as you wanted to know more about this dog. "he was ginger, oh y/n he was so cute. when mummy comes on sunday i'll get her to show you a picture" she said, getting all excited about the thought of you seeing the dog. "i'll look forward to it" you said, smiling at her. you knew that wouldn't happen, Amanda would freak out before letting you see that dog. you continued eating in silence, listening to Esme speak about her week with her mum before she brought up something that would made it a bit awkward.
"daddy, why did you and mummy break up? i miss when you stayed at home with us." she said, looking up at Joseph. he choked on his drink as she said this and your eyes widened before a sad expression spread across your face. you looked down at your plate, feeling uncomfortable. you knew she hadn't meant to make you feel bad, she was only four, but the thoughts came rushing through your brain. she didn't like you and Joseph together. she wanted her old family back. Joseph coughed and looked at you, seeing you staring down at your plate. he felt bad. he hated that things couldn't be different but he knew you knew she didn't mean it.
"Es, sweetheart, me and mummy aren't getting back together, ever. i don't love your mummy anymore" he said honestly, making her look up at him with a sad expression. she nodded and looked down at her lap before getting up from the table and walking to her bedroom. you looked up from your plate when you heard her bedroom door close. "you should go talk to her" you said to Joseph, giving him a small smile. he sighed, feeling bad about how the situation is making you feel. he stood up once he saw you standing up and walked to you, wrapping his arms around your waist.
"you know she doesn't mean it" he said, looking into your eyes as he spoke. you nodded your head and lent in to kiss him. "i know, it's okay, she's only four. she just doesn't understand us yet" you said, kissing him again. "now go talk to her. i'd hate it if she was up there crying. i'll take care of Tilly" you said, unwrapping his arms from his waist as you jokingly pushed him toward the stairs, making him laugh. he walked up the stairs, and you walked back to where Tilly was. "hello sweetheart" you said, seeing her finished with her food. you picked her up and walked to the living room where her small play pen was. it was filled with toys and plastic balls that she loved to chew on.
you didn't want to shout up but you needed to know if you could leave Tilly alone for a few minutes so you could do the washing up. "Joey, can i leave her in the play pen for a minute whilst i clean up?" you asked, hearing him shout down a small 'of course'. you collected the plates from the table and walked to the kitchen where you put them in the sink to wash up. Joseph was in Esme's room, hand on her back as she cried softly to him. "i just miss you" she sobbed, his heart clenching as he heard her say those words. "i know sweetheart but me and mummy won't be getting back together. i'm with y/n now. do you not like her?" he asked, feeling anxious as he asked this. he didn't want his kids to hate you, that was the one thing he was worried about when he started dating again.
"i like her daddy. i just- i just miss you" she said, sobbing harder into his neck. his hand moved up and down her back softly as he tried to comfort her. he felt relieved when he heard she did in fact like you but she just missed him. "i'm right here love, i'm not going anywhere. how about we start seeing each other during the week as well as on the weekends hmm? would that make you feel better?" he asked, her head moving out of his neck. he watched as she nodded and rubbed her eye with her closed fist.
he lent in and kissed her cheek, wiping the tears off her cheeks as she finally calmed down. “you wanna go watch a film before bed?” he asked, seeing her teary eyes light up slightly. “yes. can we watch Mulan?” she asked. Mulan was definitely her favourite finest film, she even had a teddy Mushu which she loved. “of course baby, let’s go come on” he said, taking ahold of her hand as they walked down the stairs, seeing you sat on the sofa with a snoring Tilly on your chest as you watched some random show which was on the tv. “hi Es, you okay?” you asked, seeing her sit next to you on the sofa.
she nodded her head and watched as Joseph sat next to her. “urm y/n. would you mind if we watched Mulan?” she asked, making you smile at her shyness. “of course, Joseph could you change it? i don’t want to disturb Tilly” you said, stroking the nape of her neck, playing with the baby hairs. he nodded and grabbed the remote, changing it over to disney+ where Mulan was. you all watched Mulan and listened as Esme sang the songs quietly throughout, making your heart swell, she had a beautiful voice.

Sunday rolled around quicker than you expected, you and Joseph were waiting for Amanda to come pick up the girls. he was upstairs with both Tilly and Esme when the door bell finally rang. you took a deep breath before walking to the door, opening it with a smile on your face. “hi, it’s nice to see you” you said, trying to be as nice as you could, trying to ignore the filthy stare she gave you. “yeah whatever. where’s the girls?” she asked, making your smile falter a bit. “oh urm they’re upstairs, come in i’ll go get them” you said, moving to the side to let her in.
she walked into the house for the first time, looking around as she saw the photos of you and Joseph scattered around. she walked into the living room and sat on the sofa, still looking around. “can i get you anything?” you asked, just before you were about to go tell Joseph Amanda was here. she shook her head and looked at her phone, allowing you to go get Joseph and the girls. before you walked up the stairs, you heard her talking on the phone quite loudly. “no it’s awful, such an ugly house. she doesn’t look any better either, a lot worse” Amanda said, making your heart drop. now you weren’t one for some stupid comment to effect you but hearing it from her just made you feel bad about yourself.
you shook it off, not wanting to show Joseph and the girls that you were now upset. you walked up the stairs and into Esme’s bedroom where they were all playing. “your mums here, she’s in the living room” you said, seeing her smile grow wide as she dropped her dolls and ran past you to go see her mum. “be careful” you said nicely, seeing her almost fall down the stairs from how fast she ran. “you invited her in?” Joseph asked, shocked that you allowed her in here. “oh yeah i did. i only did it because i would feel bad if i closed the door in her face to come get you guys” you said honestly, seeing him pick up Tilly. “i’ll get their bags” you said, walking to Esme’s bed where both girls bags sat.
“thank you” he said, walking out the bedroom before you. you both walked down the stairs and into the living room where you saw Esme sitting with Amanda. Esme saw you come into the room and immediately got off of her mum, walking to wrap her arms around your leg. “thank you for doing my hair y/n. i wish you could do my hair every day” she said sweetly, you smiled down to her and ran your fingers gently over the two french plaits you’d done for her earlier. “you’re very welcome sweetheart” you said, kneeling down to give her a hug goodbye.
Amanda saw red once she saw you give Esme a small kiss on the cheek. she looked at it like it was the worse possible thing you could ever do. once you stood up, that’s when she started. “i’ve had enough of and i’m honestly not comfortable with you around my kids y/n. you’re doing her hair now and kissing her on the cheek like you’ve known her her whole life? well guess what, you haven’t. you’ll be nothing but Joseph’s girlfriend to her and she’ll never like you like she loves me. you’ll never be me and you’ll never be a mother to my kids. now in future, don’t hug my kids, don’t kiss my kids and dont do Esme’s hair. you aren’t her mum and you never will be so back off. they’re here to see Joseph not you. and don’t you ever tell her what to do, i heard you tell her to be careful and it was so rude of you to do so. now back off, no one wants you here” she practically shouted, making your face turn red from embarrassment. it was like you were back in school being shouted at for talking whilst a teacher was. she knew how to make you feel under appreciated and she’d just done it in front of everyone.
Joseph looked at her shocked. how could she say something like that to someone who only showed her respect and kindness? “hey, don’t talk to her like that, she’s done nothing wrong Amanda? she only told Esme to be careful because she almost fell down the stairs coming to see you. and she did Esme’s hair because i can’t plait it and she asked for them so yeah, so what, she did her hair. stop acting like she’s doing things wrong when she’s not-” he started. you hated that you may have caused this issue between them so you spoke up. “enough. it’s okay. i shouldn’t have told her what to do and i’m sorry i did her hair. and i’m sorry for anything else i’ve done to you Amanda. i really didn’t mean to come across as rude, now if you excuse me, i have uhh, somewhere to be” you said, still feeling embarrassed that she shouted at you like that.
you felt everyone’s eyes on you as you turned your back and walked out of the living room to the front door. you grabbed your keys from the side and walked out, hearing Joseph’s pleads for you to come back. you had tears rolling down your face as you got into your car and drove off to anywhere, anywhere away from the confrontation. “see what you’ve done? well done Amanda, making someone feel miserable per usual. you have no idea how much y/n does for the girls. she has so much love for them and you’ve just embarrassed her like that. what was your point? she’s done nothing but be kind toward you and you’ve thrown it back in her face. she doesn’t want to be their mum, she’s always said she’d never want to take that away from you so how dare you treat my girlfriend like that.” he said, making Amanda look down at Esme who had a scared expression on her face.
“daddy where did y/n go?” Esme asked, her arm tugging on his t-shirt, getting him to look down at her. Joseph sighed and look down at Esme. “i have no idea sweetheart, she’ll be back soon” he said, smiling softly at her. Amanda looked shocked at Joseph’s outburst. “you must really love her” Amanda said, making Joseph look at her, confused expression on his face. “of course i love her, why do you think i moved in with her?” he said, confused at what she was getting at. “remember Joseph, you loved me once too. we had the perfect family and the most beautiful house and compared to this, what we had was so much better.” she said, was she seriously still going on?
“oh my god Amanda. one, our relationship was far from perfect and two, y/n is one of the best thins to ever happen to me. i wish every single day that i had these kids with her instead of you. now get out seriously, you’ve made my girlfriend leave her own home because you embarrassed her, now leave.” he said, anger filling him. he knelt down to Esme, seeing her upset expression on her face. “is y/n okay daddy? she didn’t say a proper goodbye” she said, the air was filled with anger and confusion. “y/n is fine sweetheart okay? when you come next weekend, she’ll be here okay? and you guys can watch Mulan and she can plait you hair how does that sound?” he said, tickling her side softly, trying to make her laugh. she let out a small giggle and wrapped her arms around his neck. he kissed her cheek softly before letting go, allowing her to walk to Amanda to leave. once they’d left, he was sat around calling you and messaging you, hoping you’d be home soon.
-
after a few hours, you finally arrived home seeing Amanda’s car was thankfully not in the driveway. you unlocked the front door and heard Joseph running towards the front door. as soon as he saw you he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you in for a tight hug. “god i was so worried, i’m so sorry y/n. i didn’t know she was gonna do that” he said, kissing your temple. you let your head fall into his neck before you allowed silent tears to fall.
“Joseph i just don’t understand. i’ve been so nice to her and she’s so mean. when she walked in she went straight on her phone and called someone, she said that i looked worse than before and that the house was ugly. i just don’t know what i can do for her to like me” you sobbed, the embarrassment from earlier filling your body.
“hey stop that. she knows nothing about you sweetheart and you shouldn’t listen to her. the house is lovely and you are so beautiful. she’s only saying it because she’s jealous. now, please don’t cry over her, she’s not worth your tears” he said, pulling your face to look at him. he gave you a soft smile and wiped your tears, hoping he made you feel somewhat better from earlier.
you sighed and nodded, the smile on his face growing wider. “come on, we should finish watching that series you were binging the other day, what was it? uhh, i can’t remember” he said, making you laugh tearily. “shameless” you said, your voice croaking slightly from your crying. “yes, shameless, come on sweetheart” he said, pulling you further into the house. he’d always stuck up for you and that’s all you ever wanted, someone to be in your corner when something went wrong. you were very grateful for him.
Bucky knowing he’s adorable. He knows all he has to do is bat his baby blues and it'll make anyone fold instantly. He's become such a little shit about it too, because he acts so oblivious while knowing exactly what he's doing.
“For fucks sake. No. NO. Do not look at me with those puppy eyes it won’t work” Sam shook his head, refusing to look at Bucky's face while the soldier blinked innocently with a small pout on his lips.
"I didn't do anything" he shrugged, acting as if he hadn't swiped the last cookie with the evidence sprinkled on the front of his shirt.
"You're something else" Sam grumbled, rolling his eyes at the puppy like look Bucky had on his face, "You can't keep making that face and getting away with this, keep your grubby hands away from my oreos"
Sam only manages to keep up the act for so long before reluctantly opening a new box, pushing it towards the brunette who smirks, swiping another handful.
"Unbelievable"

"Who the hell broke another punching bag in the gym-
“He’s right behind me isn’t he” Tony deadpanned, knowing Bucky was slinking about somewhere, batting his brown lashes, making his job 100 times harder. "Barnes I swear-
The billionaire turned around to find Bucky tiptoeing around the mess he made with wide, remorseful eyes making the billionaire groan.
"Don't look at me like some dame in the 40's, that cute face won't work on me"
"Did you just call him cute"
"Shut up"
"Well, you're not wrong"
-
"Bucky you're late" you frowned as he ran over to you, dressed in all black, ready to take you to dinner.
"M'sorry doll" He pouted, burying his face into your neck, "Didn't mean to keep you waiting"
"You're doing it again, this is cheating, you can't keep acting adorable and getting away with being late to our dates" you huffed, eventually melting into his needy cuddles, missing his little naughty smirk. Of course he didn't actually mean to be late and he really was sorry but he loved when you fell for his sweet charm.
"Did you see that? That little smirk he just made" Sam hissed while Steve snorted, lowkey happy to see this version of Bucky making its way back. "He gets away with everything, it isn't fair"
"Well I think it's adorable" Nat smiled watching him dote on you while Steve hummed in agreement. "He's a little cutie"
"He's a little shit"

“Dude.” Argyle leaned in for a closer look, staring deeply into the unimpressed, brown eyes peering up at him from her place in her bouncer, tiny fists curled near her head, fuzzy with dark curls. “You had a baby.” Eddie snickered while Jonathan shook his head in amusement. “Yeah, I know that, man.” “No—you don’t get it, man! Like, you had a baby. You’re a dad. She is composed of half of your DNA. The fruit of your looms!” Jonathan choked on the cold pizza he’d been scarfing down at that bit of Argyle’s rant. “She’s—Oh, she got your eyes, too.” Argyle ended on a coo, a finger reaching down to run over her soft, chubby cheek. From the moment you and Eddie brought Penny home three weeks ago, you’d been attached to her. Utterly and completely obsessed with the perfect little being your body had spent months creating. While you’d been initially incredibly hesitant to meet her—coherently, at least, she’d been placed on your chest briefly when you’d been having a horrible out of body experience from the pain of having just pushed her out seconds before—it was hard for you to put her down now. You blamed that newborn baby smell. It was your weakness, if she was cradled against you, your head was angled down to sniff at her hair. You loved bonding with her in general, but your mother had made sure Eddie knew to not let you withdraw from society once Penny came, and then she’d told Eddie all about Postpartum Depression, effectively scaring the shit out of him. So that’s how you ended up having a girl’s day with Nancy, Eden and Robin. Sure, you’d started crying after showering your little baby in kisses and love and you’d had to be literally dragged out by the girls but Eddie knew you’d have a good time.
Just like he knew he could totally handle Penny on his own. Jonathan and Argyle had come along with the girls, but both were entirely too curious about Penny to leave. Not at all because Eddie had body blocked the door once they realized their ride was driving off. Alright, he was still scarred from day two out of the hospital. Max and Lucas had come over to the trailer to visit Penny—Lucas loved holding her, you found it so cute—when you had gone to change Penny’s diaper and immediately began crying out for help. Eddie had never bolted so fast in his entire life with Max and Lucas on his heels, and the sight that greeted them was horrifying in a new parent sort of way. Penny had shit so violently once you’d undone her diaper that it was splattered on the wall, she was peeing all over your hands, and she’d thrown up, the milky looking substance also leaking out of her little nostrils. She herself didn’t look at all phased by what she’d just done. So, yeah. Maybe he needed a little back up for now. “Who’s got beautiful, angel eyes? Who’s got beautiful angel eyes? You do! You do!” Eddie watched Argyle gently tap her little nose, and his heart warmed when he could see his baby smiling around her pacifier. He knew it was probably just gas since she was starting to learn how to use her face, but he liked to imagine she knew just how much everyone loved her; that she’d never have to feel like he did growing up, unloved and alone until Uncle Wayne had stepped in when his father had been arrested and he had no one else. His kid had family. And a damn good one at that. “You can pick her up, if you want.” “Whoa.” Jonathan warned. “Hey now.” Argyle took a physical step back from the newborn, eyeing her skeptically. “And risk dropping her—man, that’s not cool.”
“You won’t drop her, so long as you hold onto her. Kind of common knowledge, but simply don’t let go.” Eddie rolled his eyes, stretching forward from the couch to slip his finger into her tiny little hand. She gripped onto it immediately, and he leaned closer to give it a kiss, inhaling the scent of her skin. He couldn’t blame you for sniffing her all the time—she did smell ridiculously good.
“Fine, man. Then you get her out of that chair thingy, ‘cause I don’t wanna hurt her or something. I’m used to Eden’s siblings, they’re like uh a little older by like a lot and stupid invincible. One of her brothers came down the driveway on his bike just when I pulled up and I hit him with my car. Little dude just got right back up, kicked me and left!” Eddie’s eyes were wide as saucers as he carefully pulled Penny out of her bouncer—the three of them collectively awing in adoration when her lower half scrunched up on instinct as she brought her hands to the sides of her head— and stood up in front of Jonathan. “You get first dibs since you don’t currently have a likely hood of hitting my daughter with a car at some point in her life.” Jonathan immediately looked like he wanted to runaway, but ended up hesitantly accepting Penny into the crook of his arms as Eddie handed her over. It had been a while since he last held a baby, the last having been Will and he’d been a kid then, too.
He took to it naturally, though, his body relaxing as he held up her hand, thumb rubbing gently over her soft palm. Her squishy little fingers wrapped over his thumb as she stared up at him, most likely curious about a face she’d seen a couple of times before, but not so often this close. Or maybe she wasn’t thinking at all.
“She’s so. . . small.” That wasn’t what he meant, he’d meant she looked so innocent, so fragile to the world around her. She wasn’t even his kid, but the longer he held her, the more sure he became of the fact that he’d kick ass to keep her safe, something he didn’t do very often, but very effectively. “I’m an uncle.” Eddie smirked, filled with pride as his daughter won another skeptic over. Jonathan ran a hand over her head, mindful of her soft spot, in awe of how soft her hair was. Damn, she really was cute. And she did have Eddie’s eyes. “She’s a pretty baby.” He commented, moving his thumb around in her hold. “Not gonna lie, I thought she’d you know, be a little ugly when she came out, what with having been squished through a hole, but no. She was even a pretty newborn.” Eddie admitted, he hadn’t seen a whole lot of newborn babies before Penny, but he knew they looked like little aliens fresh out the womb. “You and baby mama must have been some pretty cute looking babies, then. Any kids Eden and I have are screwed, man. I was hairy as hell and I’ve seen her baby pictures, let’s just say they’re gonna get double takes.” Argyle ranted, but he too was focused on Penny and Jonathan, looking a little envious. Once Jonathan got his fair share, he shifted her around in his hold, making sure to support her head as he transferred her into Argyle’s ready and waiting arms. He seemed to change his tune after witnessing Jonathan hold her and successfully not throw her across the room like a football.
Unlike Jonathan who hadn’t wanted to move her around too much in his grasp, Argyle sat her up right, making sure to support her head at Eddie’s prompting. Penny looked startled as her body tried to slump forward, stopped by Argyle’s hold on her. The pacifier stopped moving, and Eddie tensed, waiting for the cry but it never came. Instead, the pacifier began to move again and she let out a soft grunt, but she didn’t seem to mind all that much.
He relaxed, sinking into the couch on Jonathan’s other side. Argyle noticed her drooping lids and deciding to be brave, placed her back into her bouncer as gently as he’d seen Eddie handle her.
Eddie couldn’t help but grin down at her, taken with the way they’d drop completely only to shoot back up. He was reminded of all the late night conversations the two of you had, and how you always fought sleep off, keen on talking to him instead of sleeping. Your eyelids would get all droopy, you’d close your eyes, and then catch yourself, snapping up and briefly awake before doing it all over again. Eddie wondered how many more memories of you looking at Penny would trigger for him. He couldn’t wait to figure it out. As if she knew he was thinking about her, Penny’s gaze wandered to him and he locked eyes with a pair identical to his own. Then she forced her pacifier out of her mouth and began to wail something fierce. They all jumped up immediately, eyes wide at the sudden drop in her mood. “What did I do? Was it something I said?” Argyle asked, blaming himself as he began to panic. Jonathan was running his hands through his hair, distressed. “No, you didn’t do anything,” Eddie reassured him as he picked Penny back up and walked to the small kitchen, grabbing a bottle from a recent feeding attempt. “You hungry, little bitty pretty one?” He held the bottle to her lips but that only seemed to make her angrier as she struggled against it, head moving away from the nipple. Her face was all squished up and took on a darker tint as her wails died down to whimpers. Eddie knew what that meant. He was quick to place the bottle back down, but the damage was done. Penny was silent for the briefest of moments before she began shrieking. Water started to pull in the inner corners of her eyes—a new development, up until two days ago, all she could do was cry but her body hadn’t produced tears yet—and she let her little lungs ring loud in the trailer. Eddie knew his neighbors were probably cursing up a storm but they could kick buckets for all he cared. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. That’s not what you wanted, was it? My poor girl. Daddy’s gonna make it right.” Eddie soothed, cradling her to his chest with one hand holding the back of her head. It seemed to do some good, hearing his voice had stopped the piercing shrieks, but she was still crying and very loudly. He pulled her little baby bottoms back to check her diaper, but it was still clean so she couldn’t be upset about that. Eddie sighed, raising her a little higher on his chest so he could nuzzle her, pressing kisses into her sweet smelling hair.
Then it hit him. Penny was tired. That was it. She was just tired but unable to fully slip into blissful slumber on her own and she was upset about it. Eddie wanted to beat his head against the fridge for having overlooked something so obvious. He reached down to turn the knob of the radio, bringing it to life before he began searching for a station. Once he’d stumbled upon one crooning out oldies, he swayed, patting her bottom to further soothe her.
Penny’s cries died down almost immediately, turning into soft grunts instead as her lids began to droop again. It was after Eddie started singing along, his voice low and soft, that she was finally able to fall asleep, snuggled up to her daddy with a fist full of his hair that was most definitely going to be super fun getting out of her grip without waking her. Eddie turned to find Jonathan and Argyle watching them. Jonathan had a ghost of a smile on his face while Argyle stared at him in wonder. “Dude. You’re a dad. You just did a dad thing!” Jonathan grinned. “I agree. Looks like I’m the only freak in town now, you’re Eddie ‘The Dad’ Munson, now.” “Hell yeah, I’ll take it.” Eddie didn’t bother trying to hide his smile, he was cheesing’ it up. You’d called him something similar a couple of times. Teased him about being Eddie ‘The DILF’ Munson, which was really unfair given you hadn’t been cleared by your doctor to have sex yet, so he couldn’t make that a reality. “It’s crazy how this time last year, we were freshly graduated, you were eloping against every single adults’ opinion and now you have a baby. It’s mind boggling. But like, at the same time it’s not. . .I don’t know, help me out here.” Argyle slapped the back of his hand against Jonathan’s shoulder a few times.
“Being a dad suits you. You’re good at it. You’re a good dad and a good family man.” Jonathan supplied, meaning every word. He’d know, he had a shitty dad like Eddie did.
That one simple statement hit Eddie hard, and he held Penny just a little tighter to his chest. “Gotta give her everything I didn’t have.” — You nearly broke the door down when you’d gotten back to the trailer. Despite your hesitance to leave Penny, you’d actually enjoyed the time with your friends. Sure, you spent every single second you weren’t talking thinking about your little family, but you still had fun. The car ride back was spent wondering how much of a mess the place would be. Robin was expecting there to be a small kitchen fire, Eden was expecting one of the boys to be crying, Nancy was just curious to see how Jonathan had lasted in the presence of a baby. For future after college and established careers purposes, of course. You had faith in Eddie, had seen how quickly he had and still was adapting to being a dad. The others you couldn’t ball park so your money was on Argyle being the crybaby to which Eden quickly agreed.
But you hadn’t come home to any of that. The boys were all sat on the couch, fawning over your baby who had woken up in much better mood. “My baby!” You made grabby hands as they got up to greet you, and Eddie let you scoop her up from his arms in exchange for a kiss. You could hear Robin gagging when she realized she was third wheeling three different couples, so you assumed Nancy and Eden were also receiving ‘welcome back’ smooches. You leaned down to violently inhale Penny’s new baby smell, pulling back with a look of satisfaction on your face. “That’s the good stuff. How’d it go?” Eddie laughed as he pressed a kiss to your forehead and trailed a finger through Penny’s curls. “Oh, you know. Nothing I couldn’t handle.”
“you’re so quiet” bro it's literally so loud in my brain.

Ever since he’s rejoined society and gained the closest thing he can have to a normal life, being a supersoldier and all, there’s one thing that Bucky can’t bring himself to do: celebrate his birthday.
The more memories he regains, the more he remembers a time where he used to celebrate his birthday with his family and his friends.
Sure, they didn’t have much, but he had his mom and his sister and Steve. It was a simpler yet happier time, and he now all he feels is gloomy.
So every year he treats it like any other day. He trains and goes on missions if he has to, and if he’s in the compound he chills with a book or maybe takes a motorcycle ride, never once even making it known to the rest of the team that it’s his birthday.
“Seriously, Buck? That’s how you’re gonna spend your whole day?” Steve asks Bucky as they walk down the hallway towards their rooms.
“Yes, seriously.” Bucky answers with a roll of his eyes. Every year Steve tries to get Bucky to do something more to celebrate his birthday, but Bucky never budges. “You know damn well what I think about my birthday.”
Steve groans and stops walking, causing Bucky to stop too, and tries one last time before leaving Bucky to his sulking. “I know, but come on! Let’s at least do something together, let’s celebrate your birthday like we used to, go to Coney Island or something. Don’t spend the day alone!”
“We spend everyday together, Rogers. Sometimes it’s nice to get a break.” Bucky jokes with a smirk before he starts walking again and leaves Steve to chuckle and roll his eyes before he walks to his own room.
What neither of the supersoldiers realized is that they had stopped right in front of your room to talk, just as you were about to walk out. You stopped in your tracks and listened to their conversation.
It’s Bucky’s birthday? How did you not know that? Sure it’s not like you’re the best of friends, but you’re still pretty close. You should’ve known that.
So you decide to do something nice for him today while still respecting his wishes of having a low-key day. You take your purse and jacket and head to the garage, getting into your car and driving towards the city.
Truth is, you’ve always had a crush on the Sergeant. It was hard not to when he looked the way he did, and he was as sweet as Bucky was.
As intimidating as he might look, you knew how shy he could be. He got flustered easily when he got a compliment, and you found him so adorable when he started blushing and stuttering.
You go to the bookstore you know Bucky loves to browse when he is in the city, it’s a small store that’s filled with second hand books. Bucky always said that he loved to give books a second chance, just like he got one after Hydra.
You look through the books until you find the perfect one: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. The team saw the movie together when it was Steve’s turn to pick, and as you sat next to Bucky you heard him quietly tell Steve about the details they remembered from reading the book in the 30s.
You go to Bucky’s favorite bakery next and buy two dozen of his favorite cupcakes, and when you see that they sell different colors you have to buy a gold and black one.
You drive back to the compound and, after dropping the rest of the cupcakes in the kitchen for the team, you take one, putting the candle on top of it and taking a lighter. You go to Bucky’s room, cupcake in one hand and gift bag in the other, and knock on his door.
“Come in.” Bucky says from inside, thinking it’s Steve coming to bother him again.
You open the door slightly and look inside, seeing him sitting on his bed with his back against the headboard and a book in his hands.
“Am I bothering you?” You ask hesitantly.
“N-no, you’re not. Come in.” Bucky says quickly, closing his book and sitting up more.
You open the door completely and enter his room, taking a couple of steps towards him before stopping. “I… I got you something.”
Bucky’s eyes widen a little as he sees the cupcake and the gift bag you’re holding out to him.
“Did Steve tell you?” His eyes narrow a little, and you squirm a little under his gaze and shake your head.
“I overheard you talking about it…” You say quietly, a little embarrassed. “I get that you don’t want a party or anything, but I thought… I don’t know, I just wanted to do something nice for you on your birthday…”
You start to second guess yourself as he just looks at you and, just as you’re about to backtrack on your stupid idea and leave him alone, he smiles brightly at you, sitting on the edge of his bed and patting the spot next to him.
You sit next to him and you put the bag on his bed so you can light the candle and hold the cupcake out to him with a smile. “Make a wish.”
Bucky thinks about it for a second. He knows what he wants to wish for, the thing is he already got his wish: you in his room, sitting with him on his bed. But he makes his wish anyway before blowing out the candle. He wished for you to be his.
You smile at each other for a moment before you snap yourself out of it, shaking your head a little and picking up his present and giving it to him.
He puts the cupcake on his nightstand as he takes the bag and opens it and you can see his face light up when he sees it as he runs his fingers down the cover before looking at you with a smile. “Thank you, doll.”
You smile back at him and lean in to kiss his cheek. “Happy birthday, Bucky.” You say before getting up and leaving, letting him have his peaceful day of relaxation.
Bucky watches you go with a slight blush, his hand over his cheek where you kissed it and a goofy smile on his face.
Perhaps celebrating his birthday is not such a bad thing after all.
This is my first time writing for Steddie, so sorry if it's shit! Based on this post.

No one had ever seen Steve cry, and at this point they weren’t sure it was even something he was capable of. So, as he stood over Eddie’s open casket with the only dry eyes in the room, no one really batted an eye.
It had been 3 weeks since Steve had carried the metalhead’s body out of the Upside Down, with Dustin leaning heavily into a misty eyed Robin and Nancy as he limped alongside them, tears still streaming from his eyes. Steve hadn’t shed a tear then, and he didn’t shed one now. It wasn’t because he didn’t care for Eddie, in fact he probably cared for him far more than he’d admit to even himself, but something just didn’t feel right. It was hard to grieve for someone when it didn’t truly feel like they were gone.
Eddie’s uncle had arranged the funeral to be a quiet affair, hoping to minimize the chances of any angry hicks’ gate crashing. So it was held in a small room at the morgue, with only close friends and family in attendance.
After a short speech from Wayne, everyone filtered through to say their own goodbyes. Mike and Lucas both stood by the casket momentarily, gripping the sides and saying their own quiet goodbyes. Erica didn’t say much, just placed a small black dice beside one of his hands before nodding down at him. Nancy went up with Johnathan and whispered a quiet thank you, letting her hands brush a stray lock of hair from his face. Dustin stood there in silence just staring down at Eddie’s still form before choking out a promise to look after Eddie’s ‘little sheep’. And then it was just Steve and Robin left in the room. Robin tugged on his sleeve, looking up at him with big pleading eyes until he nodded and walked up with her, he stood beside her as she whispered a soft goodbye, eyes then looking to him to do the same.
“Could I… I just need a moment with him, if that’s okay?” he said quietly, smiling gratefully as Robin just squeezed his hand and nodded before also exiting the room.
Eyes doing a quick check around the room to make sure there was nobody left to witness what he was about to say, Steve let his hands rest against the wood of the casket and leant down towards the long-haired man.
“Okay, you listen here you little shit, I know you’re not dead.” Steve whispered; eyes firmly trained now on Eddie’s face. His grip against the wood only getting tighter as the silence stretched on.
“Fuck.” he breathed, hanging his head at the lack of response, before turning to start walking away.
“Yeah, no shit Harrington.” Came the gravelly response from behind him, stopping him in his tracks.
As he slowly turned on his heel, he watched as Eddie pushed himself up into a sitting position, an almost familiar grin on his face had it not been for what looks like two fangs pushing down over his lower lip.
“What the hell, man?” Steve exclaimed, almost storming back over to the casket and taking Eddie’s face in his hands and tilting him from left to right to get a better look.
“Nice to see you too, Stevie.” Eddie murmured; cheeks being squished slightly by Steve’s grip on him.
“How long have you been, well not dead?” Steve huffed; brows furrowed as he let his gaze roam over the other man’s body.
“Honestly man, I have no clue. I woke up a couple of times, but this has been the first time I was actually able to move. Fuck, it really hurts dying y’know.” Eddie groaned, stretching all his limbs out and rolling his shoulders as he let his hands pick at the tight material of the black jacket he was dressed in, “Of course Wayne would take this opportunity to get me in a suit, I love the old man, but shit.”
“Really? I don’t think our biggest problem right now is your style choices, you’ve literally come back from the dead man.” Steve grumbled with a hand nervously running through his hair.
“Ooo, now that’s where you’re wrong Stevie boy, it’s always about the style choices.” Eddie grinned, loosening the tie that was around his neck with a grimace, "Anyway, what's the plan for breaking me out of here? Cus I don't know about you man, but I don't exactly love the thought of being buried alive."
“Look, you’re not meant to be being buried until tomorrow, can you just hang tight for a few hours? I can come by later tonight and sneak you out when there's nobody around” Steve said, hands landing like a disappointed parent on his hips.
“Harrington. You cannot be asking me to, what? Play dead?” Eddie scoffed, the realization slowly showing on his face as he realised that Steve was deadly serious. “Nah man, come on, there’s gotta be a better way than that?”
“Well, unfortunately for you, I don't think there is. You’ll get recognized the second you step out those doors, and I don’t know about you man, but I’m not exactly in the mood for a lynch mob right about now.” Steve said, raising an eyebrow as Eddie visibly deflated.
“Fine. Fine, but you better come back for me Harrington!” Eddie sighed, pointing an accusatory finger at the other man as he lay back down with a huff.
“Always, Munson.” Steve replied, knocking his knuckles against the side of the casket with a soft smile, missing the slight pink that rose in Eddie’s cheeks as he slipped out the room.
calling eddie by his name instead of the usual 'babe' or 'baby' and he thinks hes in trouble
you wandered into yours and eddies room, staring down at the assembly instructions of the coffee table you had just bought.
"hey, eddie, i know i said i could do this myself but can you help me real quick?" you asked, not looking up from the paper.
you missed the way he tensed, quickly setting aside his guitar and making his way to you.
"uh... yeah, of course."
"great!" you headed back into the living room of your new home, eyes still scanning the words on the page. "i cant get this tightened down enough, and i dont want it to be all wobbly and uneven."
eddie nodded, uncharacteristically quiet as he mulled over the day in his head. maybe you really did want him to help and he just didnt pick up on the signals? he forgot to put gas in the van and you had to go and do it, but you brought him back a snack from inside, surely you werent mad at him about that? shit, what was the date?
"you okay, love?" you laughed softly, waving your hand in front of his face to snap him back to reality.
"did i... did i do something wrong?" he asked, and the hurt puppy dog look on his face made your heart melt.
"what? no, baby, what makes you say that?" you set the paper down, handing him the little hex key that came with the table. "this one right here."
he didnt look at you, a little embarrassed at being so anxious over such a small thing, instead focusing on tightening the little screw keeping the leg in place.
"you called me eddie."
"...isnt that your name?" you laughed softly, not quite understanding.
"well yeah, but you never call me eddie." he set the key down after tightening it, taking the other screw you handed to him and placing it in the hole, tightening it with his fingers as much as he could before going back to the key.
you thought for a moment, trying to recall the last time you called him by his actual name.
"huh. i guess i dont." you laughed, grabbing his hand to get his attention. "did you think i was mad at you?"
"yes!" he sounded exasperated and you laughed more. "i thought i forgot our anniversary or something, fuck. i was freaking out!"
you snorted through your laughter causing eddie to grin.
"no! jesus, im sorry baby. im not mad, i promise."
he laughed in relief, shaking his head before leaning over the little coffee table to kiss your head.
"im glad. had me scared for a minute."
Tiktok has exposed me to an unpleasant side of people (mostly dudebros womp womp) saying that in civil war Steve should've chosen & sided with tony??? Are you out of your fucking mind...... why in the fuck would he choose tony over bucky?
"Team tony, Bucky literally killed his parents, I'd be mad too."
WHY ARE Y'ALL JUST ALWAYS FUCKING LEAVING OUT THE FACT THAT BUCKY WAS SUBJECTED TO BRAINWASHING AND CONSTANT TORTURE FOR SEVENTY FUCKING YEARS??!?!??? WHY??!?!???
Bucky is a VICTIM.
Bucky is the only family Steve had left. They literally tell each other "'til the end of the line." That's his FAMILY. Of fucking course he'd be loyal to his best friend from day 1.
Steve: I'm worried about Bucky, he thinks really low of himself.
Y/N: And that's why God created me.
Sam: A crazy person that's obsessed with him?
Y/N:
Y/N: I think the word is passionate.
