Clothing folds

BEYOND insane colour palette improvement

Shading/rendering for the colour layer, including tiny dots in the shadows for depth

Experimenting with gradients on the lineart layer

Better idea of shape and direction - feet clearly flow out, hair is obviously curly

Joints that are built-in instead of being drawn onto normal legs last-minute

PROPORTIONS. I'm not sure how, but for this one it's very obvious Ollie has a small(er lol) body, and it would be easy to mistake them as a kid while wearing kidcore.

Expressions/visual communication with personality

I accidentally foreshadowed events that I didn't even dream up yet

Rereading my own stuff because I accidentally made a mistake in Off to Class. It's a fic dedicated to worldbuilding, character growth and foreshadowing. And holy crap rereading it made me realise just how much foreshadowing there is.

(SPOILERS FOR SMALLER BODIES)

Specifically during Miss Delight's lesson.

"Last lesson, we learned skin is the largest organ..."

Chemical Weapon introduces Ollie, who is infamous for being skinned.

"Without oxygen in your blood... eventually, death."

Catnap uses her smoke to leach the oxygen out of Leith Pierre's lungs and suffocate him.

"Today, we learn the basics of the neck."

The very next fic covers Dogday's throat surgery and breathing collar. Miss Delight shifts the lesson to warn him. This was the ONLY intended bit of foreshadowing in the whole fic...

All of this foreshadows the nightmare that is this thing

So. Change of course in Destroy-A-Toy. In DAT, Harley and Ollie are working together. Probably unwillingly.

Currently this is the vibe:

In DAT, obviously Harley has a body because the Hour of Joy hasn’t even happened yet, but I want to set it up. Also to me it makes so much sense because come on

I also want to say I think Harley’s cameras are blue while Ollie’s cameras are green. Which is awesome because in the trailer, the eye is mottled between both!

I. Am going to roll around on the floor. And squeal. I’m happy YAYYYY

Here’s the plan!!!

Get idiots ready for the Toy Tour, reasonably hyped

Slam-dunk them onto the train

Introduce the nightmare critters - they’re forced to share a train carriage

Make the critters go “:0” as they’re given rooms while Dogday shits himself because he can’t sleep beside BigNap

Introduction to Ollie and the realisation they’ve turned into a dictator

Grand dinner night and the official announcement of the start of training

Slow realisation that the Toy Tour is rigorously controlled

Mass panic, leading to threats of Destroy-A-Toy

The Tour is now a concentration camp where anyone who objects is killed or threatened

Optional additional ideas:

Someone’s poisoned at the dinner party

Ollie teaches the other toys about things like racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia etc and they’re all horrified because these toys have never seen those concepts before (at least, not that they’re aware of)

Dogday makes friends with Infox, who is @thattiredgamer’s OC; Kather, who is @i-am-in-the-mind-fuck’s OC, and SourTail, who is @bazyboo13’s OC

Possibly a snippet or mention of the cult. You’re not meant to know Destroy-A-Toy’s being ruled by the kitty queen, but for those already in the know it would be great foreshadowing!

Teach the toys the Footloose dance because it would be really funny as a training exercise
