Draw Broadway Genie please ππ½
Here he is! Just like with Aladdin, this is actually the first time I've done a full illustration of Genie. I've done sketches and bust drawings, but never his full body.
I had a lot of fun drawing his costume! I think the pants were my favorite part to do. He's got these cool swirls going on, and I love to scribble so I really enjoyed doing that. Also, love all his bling.
Drew James Monroe Iglehart's Genie because I love the OBC. The original cast members are all very special to me. I really loved Major Attaway in the role too!
The Aladdin Wall!
Featuring: my college graduation cap I made, BOK character design prints by Gregg Barnes, OBC signed playbill, OBC cast and crew insert from the original souvenir book, and (possibly my favorite of the bunch) the opening night illustration by the amazing Squigs Robertson.
The four art prints were all bought from the Broadway Flea Market, but two separate years (BOK prints bought in 2021, Squigs print in 2022).
For the Aladdin request, can you draw another scene from my sequel headcanon?
This is a serious message to everybody reading my update right now. Peace and Love, Peace and Love:
Requests are CLOSED and have been for a while, please do not send any more requests! I have one request left from January, and that is the last one I'm doing.
Commissions (aka paid requests) are a different story, if you'd like to buy some art from me, I'd be happy to draw you something :)
Tell me your Aladdin Broadway headcanons or ask me about mine! Or ask me any Aladdin related questions honestly. I've been thinking about/ drawing these dudes since 2015 so I've got a lot bouncing around in my skull about Aladdin and co.
(also if you requested something in my Aladdin art requests, I'm working on it I promise, just been really busy lately. since these are just typing i can post answers quicker)
First, I'm sorry to hear about your tablet. I can only hope it goes well with finding a new one later down the line.
Second, for a potential Aladdin broadway idea, how about drawing Aladdin and his friends as children? Or maybe Aladdin as a boy and with your interpretation of his mom? What do you think?
Thank you! i've been doing some research for which one to get as a replacement. my old one i had probably close to 10 years now and was one of the more basic ones (it's a wacom bamboo) so I'm going to be getting a more professional grade one! end of an era i suppose.
i love the idea of BOAK as kids (may do that another time), but I chose to depict little Al and his mom. I imagine she was strikingly beautiful, and had curly hair like Aladdin does. I referenced some of the marketplace outfits worn by the ladies in the show for her dress. with her being a mom, i made her outfit a little more modest, so her stomach would be fully covered.
(i rarely draw ladies so this was fun!)
BOK (& Iago) holographic polaroid prints! My most recent art delivery to the New Amsterdam Theatre included these lovely sparkly mini prints.
I'll post the illustrations separately, but I wanted to show off these prints because I really like the sparkles.
BOK + Iago holo prints I made for this year's birthday trip to Aladdin.
I love making physical prints of my work, especially holographic ones like this.
What's your headcanon on Broadway!Iago?
I don't have as many headcanons for Iago, but here are a few:
He has some bird-like mannerisms as a callback to his animated counterpart. For example, I think he would like to snack on common "parrot snacks" like nuts and dried fruits. I also think he would adjust/pull at/smooth his clothes and hair like how birds preen their feathers. Things like that.
He definitely has a journal filled with devious plans.
(Post-show) I don't think they keep him locked in the dungeon for too long, realizing that he could actually help Kassim as the new royal advisor. In the beginning, Kassim struggles with being the new vizier, and Iago knew everything Jafar did as the past advisor, so he becomes Kassim's assistant. The guards keep a very close eye on him for a while, but eventually they realize he's reformed and won't be a threat. He and Kassim actually become friends.
Howdy. For Pride suggestions, would you consider drawing the four street rats but with their outfits having Pride colors based on your LGBTQ+ headcanons for them?
Thank you so much for this lovely suggestion! Here's BOAK:
Drawing these dudes is always so fun. I gave them little pins too since queer people love pins (I myself have so so many). Hopefully the resolution doesnβt make them hard to see. My headcanons are as follows:
Babkak: Aromantic Asexual. Doesnβt really do the whole relationship thing. The man said it himself, heβs only ever been in love twice and both of those times were with a flan. Asexual icon.
Omar: Gay. I donβt have much else to say about Omar, heβs just gay. Pretty simple.
Aladdin: Bisexual with mostly a preference for women. Itβs probably like 80/20 for him.
Kassim: Bisexual with no real gender preference. He just always gave me very powerful bi energy and I love that for him. Heβs not bi-curious, heβs bi FURIOUS.
Happy Pride Month everyone! Remember: no matter what anybody says, if you are LGBTQ+ you are a blessing to this fucking earth we live on. Don't let anyone tell you that you're "sinful" or "immoral" just for being who you are. Gay, Trans, Bi, Nonbinary, Asexual, no matter your identity, you are wonderful and I'm happy you're here.
Babkak, Omar, Aladdin and Kassim say gay and trans rights!
My half of an art trade I did with one of my very good friends! He loves Tangle from the Sonic comics so here's Tangle in Rooftop Run from Sonic Unleashed!
Happy Pride!! Yeah, I'm a handful of days late BUT I wanted to take my time with this one and I'm SUPER happy with it :))
I did a pride doodle of BOAK last year so I wanted to do one for this year too. Added the flags I headcanon these dudes as too cuz why not. (and if you have different ones, they are so valid and i love you)
