the way my mood switches back and forth from being depressed out of my mind to feeling like i’m on cloud nine at least 100 times a day is so exhausting actually

yall one of my characters has the saddest lore, i hate it sm i just wanna hug him😭😭😭 (me acting like i didn’t give him the sad lore in question)

childhood best friends to lovers, secret relationships, sunshine boy x troubled girl, i hate everyone but you, dual/multiple character pov’s, part one/two time jump, small town, found family, four core girl group, drama, forbidden romance… and that’s only the first book😄

does it take anyone else a good minute to get immersed into their fictional world before you can start writing for the day?

like i need to sit in front of my computer with nothing but tumbleweed passing in my brain for at least an hour before i can really lock in.

especially after a solid writing break. i need to re-read the most recent scene i’ve written at least ten times to bring myself back into the character’s mind and feelings

Authors listen to music!

Listen to music while thinking of your characters and books and such!

Idk how many times i’ve been listening to music and think “oh this sounds like so and so” and I haven’t even started to get into their personality yet.

Same goes for characters and relationships with other characters. I just made a playlist for two of my characters that I had never even thought about being a couple at all…and one song and now i’ve got to come up with some way for them to meet and fall in love.

Side note: One is a prince/military leader and the other is a commoner. Though that may change since I haven’t even began to get into their personal lore.

Music is just too powerful to ever think about not using to enhance my writing/worldbuilding/ character designs.

If you’re writing something that has a difficult topic in it, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PUT A TRIGGER WARNING AT THE START.

Your viewers can then make a choice to engage in your work. If they don’t, they are simply looking out for their mental health so they don’t get triggered emotionally. Which could be damaging. You actively lay out to the viewer what to expect going in.

A trigger warning also shows that you have respect for the topic you’re discussing. It also builds your follower’s respect and trust in you. Trigger warnings show that you are respecting your audience and putting them first.

You also respect mental health by doing this, showing that you understand the impact the topics are. You show empathy to the people you write your work to.

It promotes respectful writing. Writing that is mindful and humble.

You will not only get respect, but also keep some people safe mentally.

over 103,000 words written and i’m still only about 60% through book 3…… that’s what i get for being a representative of the thicc book committee

it might also have something to do with the fact that i have nine main characters, tons of important side characters and plots, and lore that runs deeper than a rabbit hole but idk
