One of my favorite things Pokemon did with it's characters is with Hops battle animations. Like most special characters, he has his own battle animations separately distinct from the other characters. Except for when his is in battling in a stadium. In a stadium, all of his animations mimic Leon's animations. Leon, his big brother. The one he aspires to be. The one whose never lost a battle. All animations are mimicked, besides one. Hops losing animation in his gym uniform is entirely different from Leon's. Hop has watched all of Leon's matches, and Leon has never lost. Hop has never seen Leon lose, so in the stadium battle with him, Hop truly shows himself when he loses. He has no-one else to mimic. All other battles outside of Wyndon stadium are completely different animations to. I find it really nice.

recently realised how utterly bonkers the adult protagonists of treasure island are.

you've got a doctor who's a former soldier who carries parmesan in his snuff box (???). his best friend is a mildly unhinged squire who has a personality adjacent to a reality TV star when he's upset/angry (which is fairly often but thankfully not for long) and yet is an incredible marksman for someone who seems like he'd go limp-wristed at the sight of a gun. and then there's your captain who of all things goes Ah I Know What I Should Bring To This Island of Horrors! A British Flag! and then he proceeds to fit that - and more! - under his coat.

what's going on with these three. they could have an adventure-comedy show all to themselves.
