Atlantis (part 1)
prologue (must read) / series masterlist
pairing: neteyam x fem!metkayina!reader
series summary: with the death of quaritch, the sullys return to the forest. not wanting to make your mate part with his family for your sake, you decide to come with them. how will the return of his responsibilities as the future oloâeyktan affect your relationship? (4.5k)
It starts raining the moment you reach the forest and you welcome it like you would an old friend. You find your arms extending themselves, your eyes moving to look behind as you do to make sure youâre not obscuring Neteyamâs vision.Â
What is an ocean but a multitude of drops?Â
A microdose of home bidding you farewell.
Droplets living on your skin for a few seconds before they eventually have to leave, whispering a quiet goodbye and thank you for having me as gravity calls them down to the soil of pandora.Â
They slip down your body and you can feel your skin clinging to them, begging them to stay just a little longer, to consume your body, to take your breath away like the ocean does.
You fly past the weeping cloud and a part of you cries with it as the last hint of water leaves your skin.Â
âWeâre almost there,â Neteyam tells you.Â
The joy on his face is clear despite his attempt at masking it, a part of you wishes he didnât try to suppress it just so he could mourn the loss of your home with you.Â
âI canât wait,â You wish you could say more. You wish you could offer him hand-picked words that have been assorted delicately to pluck hesitation away from his grip.Â
But you canât. Because a part of you is glad you have someone that wants to mourn with you despite, and your relationship is not built on half-truths.Â
You know youâre there when you catch sight of the crowd gathered by their spirit tree. It will be yours too, eventually.
â
Jake announces their return a month before you have to leave Awaâatlu. He receives word back and is immediately promised to be given his position as the Oloâeyktan as soon as the family gets home, the Naâvi in position shoving power back into the hands of Jake the moment the opportunity presents itself, leaving no room for argument.Â
Later, when itâs just the two of you sitting on a canoe, you ask Neteyam why Jake showed reluctance. He responds in laughter.Â
âMy father is arrogant,â he says. He assumes a thinking position before he corrects himself, âWas arrogant. He tries to practise humility for my mom,â he chuckles to himself as if he was watching a memory play out in front of him, âYou should have seen his face when Norm told him. He tried to hide it but Iâm pretty sure even Tuk could tell how happy he was.â
You mull over his words. Letting them sink in before you speak, âI thought his reasoning was safety,â you pause to observe his face, âof the clan and your family.â
âMy father acted selfishly,â he pauses, catching your eye, shooting you a familiar question, do you want to carry this burden with me?
When you give him a gentle nod, he continues, âIf anything, us leaving endangered the clan. They still had Spider, they still could have found the hideout. The only difference was our absence.âÂ
You take his hand in yours as he speaks, âBut I try to understand. It is difficult for me to see reason because it is all Iâve known.â
He moves his gaze from the sea to you, âHe is selfish for choosing safety over his duties when I had to sacrifice my childhood just to carry mine out.â
He breathes out. Letting your presence calm him down before he speaks again, âBut I am glad he decided to act selfishly. Perhaps our family would not be in one piece if he didnât. And,â he places your hand on his heart, âI would not have met you.â
You smile at his words. Replacing your hand with your head. The sound of his heart and the ocean around you is enough to lull anyone to sleep.Â
But before you shut your eyes and succumb to comfort, you speak.Â
âPerhaps a Toruk flapped its wings somewhere in the forest.â
The inside jokeâborn from his endearment for your fascination with fateâgets a laugh out of him, unable to resist the urge to see happiness bloom on his face, you get up from your place on his chest to watch.Â
You look at him like you would look at the corals that live beneath you. The sight is familiar, yes, but it somehow manages to look more beautiful than it did the last time you caught a glimpse of it.
â
The first day back in the forest was hectic for the Sullys.
Not counting you.Â
After the ceremony, Neteyam guides you to a hut separate from his family. His siblings join the two of you by his parentsâ orders much to his irritation.Â
âBro, you seriously get all of this space to yourself? No fair!â Loâak exclaims, the excitement he radiates bouncing off the space, infecting everyone in his vicinity, forcing them to mirror the smile he has splattered across his face.
His teasing remarks directed at Neteyam brings a genuine laugh out of you, the sound catching Neteyamâs attention, saving Loâak from a gentle hit on the shoulder.Â
Neteyam is the first person to be pulled away from your hut, ordered to attend some kind of briefing with his father. He leans in to kiss you and stops when he remembers his siblingsâ presence in the room.
The sight of the three Sullys busying themselves has you laughing. Tuk is playing with your collection of shells. Kiri is observing the weaving pattern and Loâak. . . is covering his eyes with his hands like a child would.
âCan I look now?â he whines playfully.Â
Neteyam rolls his eyes and steals a peck before he moves to leave, âYes, you skxawng.â
When he leaves, the three siblings shoot you a look.Â
âAm I gonna be an aunt?â The question asked by the 12-year-old has your mouth dropping to the ground.
âLoâak! What have you been telling her?â When you twist your body to point at him accusingly, he simply laughs and raises his hands in surrender.
âBro, why do you always assume itâs me?â His reply has Kiri hissing in amusement, a smile etched on her face.Â
You shoot him an unimpressed stare before you squat so you can match Tukâs eye level, âYouâre not gonna be an aunt, Tuk.â You ignore Loâak coughing out yet, âDonât believe everything Loâak says, okay?â
âI give it one week.â
âLOâAK!â You and Kiri shout in unison.Â
He laughs at your flabbergasted faces before he leaves to greet his avatar and human friends.Â
The air gets noticeably mellower in his absence.
Tuk yawns, prompting you and Kiri to fix a temporary corner for her to rest in.Â
Once Tuk is asleep on her corner, Kiri moves to lean on you, âI am glad I have him as my brother.â
You hum, encouraging her to continue. âOur family would have been consumed by the war if he didnât keep that smile on his face despite everything.â
She looks up at you, âI am afraid I do not tell him enough.â You rub comforting circles on her back, waiting for her to move her gaze back to Tuk before you speak, âIt is evident in your actions that you care.â
âBut,â you glance down at her, âI am sure a verbal thanks would be well received.âÂ
Kiri smiles, satisfied with your answer. She sighs in contentment and her eyes to rest as silence is welcomed in the room.
You hear a rustle by the entrance and the sight of the Tsahik greets you. I see you, you gesture. She glances your way.
A beat.
Your breath stills and it is nothing like being engulfed by the ocean. Another beat passes and you think you finally understand what your siblings meant when they said phrases like our lungs burn.Â
She gestures back after what feels like an eternity and you begin to understand why your siblings inhale that much oxygen back into their bodies after a dive.Â
Her hand gestures towards Kiri, a silent order to wake the girl up as she was needed.
You coax the girl back to consciousness, shaking her shoulders lightly. When she doesnât budge, you smile sheepishly at the tsahik, asking for a moment. âThe human boy appears to be injured.â
Kiri groans, sitting up with her eyes still closed, âWhat did you do this time Spider?â She opens her eyes to roll them and turns to me with a look of betrayal when she sees her grandma opposite of her.Â
You shrug, mouthing Tsahik orders, sorry.Â
With Kiri leaving to help the Tsahik with the wounded and Tuk asleep, you are once again left in a room alone with your thoughts.Â
You decide to busy yourself by unpacking your belongings. Since you had more time to prepare than they did before they left their home, the familyâyour familyâoffered to each carry a sack of your belongings for you.Â
The sight of sacks filled to the brim with memories almost brings you to tears. Your friends and family from Awaâatlu insisted on claiming one sack to fill the moment you started packing. It almost pains you; the way you could tell exactly which sack contains the essence of your friends by the talon thatâs poking out of the pile. Â
Itâs the talon that was used to ink you the first time.Â
You swiftly pick it up. Burying the memories that are forcing themselves to be watched in a box as you do. A hollow promise to remember leaving your lips as you move it to a corner.Â
Half of your stuff is unpacked when Neytiri enters in search of Tuk. Her face visibly softening at the sight of her youngest.Â
She greets you with a hug and it places a smile on your face.Â
âYou have done well with this place,â She embraces you like sheâs soothing you. Soothing your pain like itâs her own, like your pain is someone sheâs well acquainted with.
She pulls away and briefly cradles your face in her hands before she moves to wake Tuk up from her corner. As she turns to leave, she looks at you again, âYou are welcome to join me in the healersâ hut,â something shifts in her eyes, âif you want to?â
Neytiri asks the question like it is a statement. Like itâs something thatâs been said before, like itâs a montage being played back, a tape being looped.
If you want to.
If you. want to.Â
Want.
Itâs a loaded question, one thatâs been fired off before.Â
Neytiri asks the question like it is a statement because in a way, it is. She knows the answer before the question is even muttered because she remembers the bullet wound that pierced her every time Jake asked if she wished to join him in the sea.
So when you shake your head and say, maybe next time, she smiles at you in understanding before she leaves.
When Neteyam returns a few hours later, he sees your back and a smile immediately makes its way to his face. He looks around, observing the lightly decorated space before he makes his presence known.
âI thought we were supposed to decorate our home together.âÂ
You laugh at the pout that makes its way to his face, guiding him to the sack of things you left untouched specifically for him.Â
âWho says we still canât?â
â
The days slip away from your fingers like water does.Â
Youâve been living amongst the Omatikaya for two weeks now but youâre yet to climb a tree.Â
Instead, your days are spent familiarising yourself with names and faces. Acquainting yourself with the healers, sitting in a corner accustoming yourself to materials they use to incorporate it in your weaving. Meeting the AvatarsâKiriâs momâand the humans, letting Tuk drag you around to show you off to her friends.
Thereâs not much time for him to teach you their ways and you understand.Â
Because war is exhausting. You arenât part of raids like Neteyam is, but it still pains you to see even just a cut on his body.Â
Loâak and Kiri nags you everyday to join them in the forest and you always reply with, No.Â
Not because youâre unwilling to learn their ways, you simply wish to experience it with him by your side.
But your resolve gets chipped every day they nag. The damâs wall cracking just a little bit every time they present you with reasons to join them. You need to see the woodsprites. You should see how many leaves I can fall on. Perhaps youâll find more material to incorporate in your weaving.
The dam finally breaks when Tuk tells you all about the rivers, lakes, and waterfalls.
Youâre not sure if itâs because it was Tuk that asked, or if it was the talk of varying bodies of water but you suddenly found yourself filled with an overwhelming desire to go despite his absence.Â
Despite your desire, you still say no.
When you tell Tuk just that, she breaks off in a sprint.Â
âTukâ wait,â She slows down just enough for you to catch up, âAre you sure this is allowed? Are you not too young to visit the forest alone?â
She looks at you with a strange look, âBut I am with you.â
âFirst of all, I told you no? Second, even if I did come, it would not make a difference. I am like a baby in the forest.â
She takes your words in and pouts when she realises they hold truth in them, she moves to open her mouth again but you beat her to it, âbesides, neither of us have an ikran to fly, how are we supposed to visit the forest?â
You shoot her your signature I am speaking with reason smile and youâre about to get her to see your reasoning when she catches two figures behind you.Â
âLoâak! Kiri! Come!â
Ah shit.
When the siblings approach the two of you and Tuk starts excitedly explaining her plan to get you to join them in the forest, you know you donât have a way out.
Thatâs not true. You could always insist on staying, explain how you wish to go with Neteyam for your first trip instead.
So you say, âNo.â
But itâs hollow. Anyone that knows you can tell that your resolve was worn off. That convincing you would be like childâs play.
Loâak carries Tuk in his arms like sheâs still a child. You look away in an attempt to collect yourself and when you look back theyâre all sporting similar pleading faces.
âItâll only be an hour,â Loâak reasons.
Kiri nods, âWeâll be back before Neteyam notices.â
The implication hits you. The wave thatâs been building up ever since you got here finally reaching your shore. But before you could properly mull over her words. Tuk tugs at your hand.
âCâmon! I know you miss the water.â
Tuk is a 12-year-old girl. She is not stronger than you are. So when she drags you to follow her siblings, you know that a part of you wants this to. That a part of you is allowing your body to get pulled.Â
Your dam breaks and you can do nothing but follow the current.
â
âLOâAK YOU SKXAWNG,â You scream at his ear causing Loâak to make the ikran more unstable than it already is.Â
âSTOP SHOUTING YOUâRE MAKING IT WORSE.â He screams back. You can hear Tuk and Kiri laughing at your display but itâs difficult to appreciate the sound when your world is literally spinning.
Once youâre out the tunnel, he starts flying normally, âI told you. I donât fly that bad. It was just the tunnel.âÂ
The words leave his mouth but they donât reach you. The sight of the giant floating rocks reminding you too much of home.Â
Kiri bumps Loâakâs ikran to get your attention. She ignores his whining but a smile still finds its way to her face, âHey, you okay?âÂ
Youâre not really sure how to properly convey your emotions without ruining the atmosphere. So Instead you ask a question.
âIs this why you guys spent so much time in the coves of the ancestors?â
Did the floating rocks also remind you a little too much of home?
You see Kiri smile at you, an answer ready to be spoken sitting on her lips.
But she never gets the chance to.
Because hundreds of ikrans come flocking from behind you before she even gets to open her mouth.
You hear Tuk cry out, the sound effectively shaking the two siblings out of their shock. They expertly steer their ikrans upwards, moving so they could fly above the flock.Â
Itâs a good lesson on perspective, you think.
One moment you feel like throwing up, the terror in your body making it go cold.Â
Next, youâre staring at the picture it paints in wonder.
Colours bleeding from the body to their wings, creating patterns that are unique to each creature.Â
They flap their wings and you catch yourself wondering if this was what led you to meet that beautiful boy two years ago.
âShit,â The curse leaves Loâakâs mouth and it drags terror back in your body.Â
You look between him and Kiri, the worried expression shared between the two doing nothing to help the chill thatâs quickly making its way back to your body.
âWhatâs wrong?âÂ
They both steer their ikran to follow the flock, hiding behind the rocks as they do, âSky people.â
It has your ears ringing. Creatures youâve only heard of from stories told by humans and warriors in the clan. Sky people canât navigate the hallelujah mountains, you remember Neteyam saying.Â
âWhy arenât they attacking the ship? Donât they usually attack?â The question comes from Tuk, the twelve-year-old safely tucked in her sisterâs chest.
Kiri and Loâak share another look before speaking in unison, âAvatars.â
âWe have to call this in.â Loâak says, reaching for the microphone on his throat as he does.
âDevil dogâ I meanâ Dad, do you copy?â
He hands you an in-ear while you all wait for a response.
âLoâak?â
âYes. Thereâs an aircraft flying over the mountains. Over.â
âAnd itâs not getting attacked by the ikrans? Over.â
âNo,â Loâak pauses, âWe think it could be dreamwalkers.â
You point at the aircraft thatâs now flying just a few feet below you. You catch a glimpse of something blue poking out and you gesture for the siblings to fly behind the rock completely.
âShit. Weâre sure itâs avatars. Over.â
âWe? Who's we? Over.â
âKiri, Tuk,â He pauses, looking over at you in a silent question. You nod against your mindâs orders. Your face scrunching when Loâak adds your name.
Regret takes root in your body when you hear Neteyam repeat your name through the radio. You hear the silent question in his voice, why did you leave? You try not to think about it. Pushing down the thoughts, saving them for later.Â
When you return to the conversation, Loâakâs telling his father where he is.
You land on one of the floating rocks to wait for their parentsâ arrival. The moment you do, Tuk bursts into tears as she comes sprinting to you.Â
You let her cling onto your lower body, soothing her sobs my rubbing slow circles on her back.Â
She turns to face her siblings, âWill the clan have to move again?â
The two share a look before they bend down to her level.Â
Kiri pats down Tukâs hair before she speaks, âOh, Tuk. Iâm sure everything will be alright.âÂ
Loâak nods, âAnd if it isnât then weâll just drive them away!â He ruffles her hair, âLike we always do, okay?â He shoots her a smile and it warms your heart when you see her mirror his expression.
A shout of your name brings the groupâs attention back to the sky. Tuk immediately rushing from your side to the ikrans to greet her parents.Â
You see Neteyam move towards you and you reach out to him. Regret and guilt resurfacing when he pulls you in an embrace.Â
He cradles your face in his hands, âAre you alright yawne?âÂ
Worry takes over his features and you really canât bear to see it so you bury your head on his chest, the rapid beating of his heart doing nothing but worsen the guilt.
âIâm alright now.â
You break away from each other and approach his parents.
âGo straight to the camp, is that clear?â Jake looks his children in the eyes as he speaks, âYour mother and I will handle this.â
Neteyam moves to speak, âBut dadââ He goes silent at the pointed stare Jake gives him, âMake sure they all get home safe.â
â
You spent the journey back pondering over the right words to pick when you eventually have to answer his silent questions.Â
Iâm sorry.Â
Would that be enough?
I canât say no to Tuk.
Are you really going to result to blaming a child?
You arrive at camp and Neteyam pulls you to your hut, his siblings knowing better than to follow.Â
âWhy were you there?â
Anticipating a question doesnât make an answer come to you easier. If anything, it makes it more difficult. You canât just blurt out anything and blame it on the lack of time when you revisit the conversation in the future.Â
You canât blurt out just anything because youâve thought of every possible response and you understand the insinuations tied whatever words leave your mouth.
âIâm sorry.â
Your gaze is pointed at the ground, unable to bring yourself to look at him, afraid of the emotions you could find if you do.
He sighs, his hands move to hold your face and you get to take a good look at his face.
âYou are not mad,â You say slowly, your observations shocking you.
To your surprise, he lets out another laugh. âNo yawne, Iâm not mad at you. I was mad that you were put in a situation like that. I donât want you hurt.â
You furrow your eyebrows at his statement, âYouâre not mad that I was planning on going to the forest without you?â
He laughs at your question like the thought never even crossed his mind and it stings.
Perhaps the blame is on you for thinking you know him enough to predict his thoughts just because your souls happened to be intertwined.Â
At the end of the day, two years is still nothing compared to the seventeen years spent getting moulded to be a warrior that prioritises protection.
When your body subconsciously inches back from his hold, the smile drops from his face.
âWhatâs wrong?â
He moves closer to you, âAre you hurt anywhere?â
His concern brings a small smile to your face. It makes you realise just how little you know this side of him.Â
The notion of getting to know half your soul better should excite you, but right now it just makes you sad.
Youâve heard of stories from his siblings; throwing himself in between them and a weapon, mediating arguments with their dad by taking the blameâ but youâve never seen it for yourself.
Protectiveness is inked on him the same way the markings on your chest are. Â
And somehow, you never took notice.
âYawne, did you hurt yourself?â
You shake your head in response. Holding his hand as you collect your thoughts.
âIâm yet to set foot in the forest,â You watch as shock takes over his face, âI wanted my first breath of your homeâmy homeâto be with you.â
The words sink in and you watch as regret made its presence known on his face.Â
âIâm sorry. But Iâve been busy andââ He cuts himself off, âIâm sorry, I shouldnât be making excuses.â
You tell him itâs okay and he insists that itâs not.Â
The next thing you know, the two of you are sneaking out.
âMaâteyam, while I do appreciate the gesture, are you sure we canât wait till tomorrow?â You ask as he helps you up Yoki.Â
âYou would love the forest better at night. The plant life on the reef reminded me so much of home,â he hops on the ikran, sitting behind you, âIâm hoping itâll have the same effect on you.â
â
When he lands Yoki by the lake and spots the huge smile on your face, he wishes he took you here sooner.Â
You sprint towards the body of water, Neteyam nodding when you ask him, is it safe to swim?Â
The sight of you swimming with a carefree smile on your face makes his heart ache.Â
You were depriving yourself of this because of him.
Because you wanted to experience this with him.Â
Neteyam jumps in the water. He twists his body, looking for you before he takes a deep breath to check underwater.Â
The moment he does, you come emerging from his side, pulling at his feet with a smile on your face. You urge for him to follow you deeper into the water.
You are right, it does remind me of home, you sign.Â
Neteyam watches as happiness blooms on your face at the sight of water life, his gaze staying on your face despite your finger pointing at something you found fascinating.Â
Thank you, you sign.Â
He shakes his head as he moves his hands, I wish I brought you here sooner.Â
Air eventually leaves his body and heâs forced to tap you and gesture upwards for some assistance.Â
When you two reach the surface you hit him lightly as he gasps for air, âYou skxawng! Why didnât you tell me sooner?â
He responds by splashing water on you. The smile on your face was worth having to suffer your retaliation.Â
The carefree atmosphere brings him back to the reef. When all he had to do was hunt and carry his weight, when he didnât have war plaguing his mind.Â
He shakes the thought off, he was not raised to think like that. He shifts his focus to you, your eyes trained on the bioluminescent life around you, lips fixed to a smile.Â
The sight of you staring at his homeâyours, soon, he hopesâin wonder eases the weight of the guilt he wears every day.Â
Iâm sorry for dragging you to war.
Iâm sorry for being selfish.
Iâm sorry I canât let the title promised to me go.
He doesnât say it, afraid heâd make you realise he wasnât worth it. Donât think like that, he imagines you saying. The thought of you enough to ward the thoughts away temporarily.Â
The light from the flower youâre holding hits your face perfectly and Neteyam feels the urge to kiss you so strongly that his body moves out of its own accord.
One moment youâre holding a flower between your hands. A beat passes and you find yourself holding his face as he pours unspoken words into the kiss, hoping his soul says what he canât and that yours understands.Â
Later, when the both of you are in the comfort of blankets, your back pressed against his, you tell him being with you reminds me of the ocean. When he asks why, you respond like itâs the simplest thing, you leave me breathless.Â
Perhaps it is simple because it is the truth. He leaves you breathless and you are the air that keeps him from suffocating.

I love this and now the image in my head, God I wish I could draw đ¤Ł
love thinking about how the sound of pro-hero bakugoâs quirk blasts probably affect villains the same way the t-rex steps affect the viewer in jurassic park. just distant, rhythmic booms that tell you that something reallllll dangerous is approaching your location.
I don't know if everyone has seen the new episode of My Hero but when they showed the boy Toga had a crush on and it was basically Izuku just in a black wig and pale makeup, I need a DNA test yall. Who's The Daddy Murray!?!
Ughh my heart is breaking because I can imagine it becomes the talk of the castle a year later when the new prince that was born has striking red eyes thay resemble a certain guard who may or may not have snuck into your chamber when you caught your new King in bed with a concubine so if he can fool around why can't you? Especially with the man you truly love.
More fic ideas that I have absolutely no intention of writing.
Knight Bakugou whoâs positioned to guard you. The King wants the best to protect his Princess, and Bakugou is the best. Besides, itâs not like the man had a choice, he doesnât want to lose his jobâ or his life.
You hate to admit that Bakugou is good at his job, much better than the men that had tried to guard you before. Making it difficult for you to sneak out into the gardens in the evening to watch the stars, or to sneak into town for the weekend festivities.
You should hate him for ruining the routine youâd managed to work yourself into over the years, for stealing away the freedom that youâd rewarded yourself when no one else would offer you the same luxury. But somehow you canât force yourself to dislike him, thereâs something behind his cold and brash personality that has you inquisitive to find out more. Enjoying trying your best to rile him up or push his buttonsâ spilling your evening tea over his pristine boots, or dropping your towel in front of him when you prepare for your evening bath.
Knight Bakugou knows exactly what youâre trying to do, and heâs determined he wonât fall for your tricksâ which is why heâs just as surprised as you are when he finds himself outside with you past curfew in the castle grounds watching the stars. But instead of staring up at the gorgeous night sky, he finds himself turning his head to the side to see how the moonlight glows against your skin. Itâs just another thing that has now woven its way into your daily routine together, and as he walks you back to your quarters each night you like to fool yourself that itâs because he wants to, not because his life depends on it.
It isnât long before the King begins to bring in suitors from neighbouring towns to vie for your hand in marriage. None of which are out of love, but a necessity to strengthen alliances between armies. Which is why it doesnât matter if you even like any of them, because the choice wonât be yours. The men are scheduled to fight for your hand, and as you sit and wait for them to joust you notice Bakugou clad in full metal armour across the field.
The King positioned him as his strongest guardâ because he is.
A man worthy enough to beat his strongest soldier is a man worthy enough to take his daughters hand in marriage. And yet as you watch every man come head to head with Bakugou he beats every single one.
And you think Bakugou has just beat these men because he wants to show how strong and powerful he is, but secretly itâs because heâs so in love with you.
You canât tell whether your father is proud or annoyed at the fact, especially when Bakugou knocks the son, young Midoriya, off his horse. The man that you believed the King wanted to you marry, the most suitable alliance available.
Itâs a few weeks later when Bakugou is sent away on a mission by the King. The head of an army sent out to pillage a neighbouring village who threaten to compromise the power of youâve forged.
The morning heâs scheduled to leave is the first time he lets you kiss him, he lets you get that close. As though heâs wondering whether heâll even return home himself. Standing in his quarters in the lower part of the castle, clad in your pyjamas and your feet freezing against the cold stone as he cradles you in his arms. Pouring every ounce of emotion into the kiss as he finally allows himself to have you, even if just for a few selfish moments. Bakugou reckons itâs worth the risk of dying, to feel your lips on his again. A fellow guard, Kirishima catches you both as he takes Bakugou away from youâ watching them ride off on horseback as you still feel the warmth of him surrounding you.
You stay awake each night wondering whether heâs even still alive tooâ whether youâll ever see him again. The new guards are just as useless as before and you find yourself longing for his safe return.
Itâs two months before your father has another man lined up as a potential suitor. Wondering who might fight for your honour now that Bakugou is gone, but youâre shocked when the King says thereâs no need for such friviolity. That the wedding is scheduled, and itâs the right reason to strengthen the Kingdom. Itâs not for love, it could never be when your heart belongs to Bakugou.
And even if you told your father about your feelings for his guard, it would be issuing Bakugou his own death sentence if he even managed to make it home at all.
But fate really can be a cruel, fickle thingâ and as fate would have it Bakugou returns home the day youâre standing at the altar wearing a pretty wedding dress like youâd dreamed about, while youâre waiting to be betrothed to another man.
There's just something about backs

Bakugou Katsuki x Reader
Warnings: none, some flirting, little bit of cocky Katsuki
Summary: You remind Katsuki that not everyone falls in awe of a Pro Hero.
*Inspired by Disney's Hercules. We love Meg đâ¤*
It's safe to say that Bakugou has grown since his days at U.A. Well, more or less.
Some days he gets lost in thought of saving people, hypnotized by the way men and women alike cheer and praise him. Chanting out his hero name, Ground Zero, and fawning over him when he's close by.
Children staring in awe at the tall, proud standing male. Some begging for a picture or autograph, which he does more from his Brand Team reminding him to grin and bear it for the polls and such.
Which he did with no problem, his smirks and boastful personality made him a magnet for egotistical labels but he ignored them, cause to him they were wrong.
He knows there's more to being a Hero than just photos and such, yet he can get swept away in the frenzie and lose the sight of that.
Until he met you, that is.
It was another day of simple patrols. Acknowledging a few fans and even stopping to take a picture with a young boy who tried to wear his hair spiked just like his "Favorite Hero". The gel in the child's hair making Bakugou smirk and mutter a "nice try brat,"
Yes it was a simple day.
He thought it'd be an easy shift ending, except for when a loud rumbling from down the street started to set off car alarms, citizens yelling out in alarm and fear.
A large villan stepped out from behind a building, the guys build like that of a giant Minatour.
It stood at atleast a good fifteen feet tall, large muscles covered in dark colored hair or fur, hard to tell from afar. Two large bull horns protruded from his cow shaped head, a long snout ending in a classic septum bull ring.
Of course in its hands, he held you.
Now most people would be screaming or pleading for their life but you simply sat in his hands, a bored look graced your features.
Bakugou instantly launched into an attack, explosions trying to blind the Minatour dude but he got smacked away like a fly. This caused him to fly into a fruit stand, teeth gritting as he stood back up, a strawberry stuck to his face before he pulled it off, a snarl present on his lips.
"Alright you sack of meat, now I'm pissed," Bakugou called out, him and the Minatour glaring at eachother when you spoke up,
"Uh hi, you maybe wanna leave Blast Boy?"
It was like a scene straight from a movie. Everyone, including the Villian, gaped at you like you were speaking in tongues.
"EH!? What the hell are you talking about?! You're the one currently suck in the Heifers grip but you're telling ME to leave?!"
Bakugou couldn't believe his ears, maybe he finally did blast his ear drums out.
"Yeah, no offense but do you see Damsel In Distress or Distressed Dude taped to my forehead? I'm perfectly fine getting my self out of here,"
Bakugou looked like a fish out of water with the way his mouth opened and closed, eyes white in anger and annoyance.
You leaned on the Bulls hand, an arm crossed under your chest as your left hands palm held your cheek up, flashing Ground Zero a sensual smile, "Have a nice day~"
Ears flushing from the sound of your voice and gleam in your eye. He went to retort, only you turned toward the Villian who was dumb enough to stop his rampage and watch the scene unfold.
"I'll give you three seconds to put me down before I make you,"
The Villian let out a booming laugh, a few citizens also murmuring in questioning tones.
You were a regular citizen like them, what exactly could you do if you had allowed yourself to get captured in the first place.
"Three...two....on-"
Before you could finish Bakugou had let a giant blast against the Minatours face making him yell in pain, his grip loosening for a second but that's all Bakugou needed to grab you and move out of the way.
This had angered the Minatour who shook his head free of ash and smoke. His red eyes locking on Bakugous who held you bridal style.
"You're welcome shitty person, next time don't try acting like a Pro and let the real Heros handle it,"
You scoffed, throwing yourself to your feet as you smoothed out your outfit, "Please, you're more of a Pro Jackass than a Pro Hero,"
The Minatour began his charge, large hoof feet sprinting at you and Bakugou.
"Get back!" Bakugou ordered, going to throw his hands out to produce his quirk but found you walking toward the Minatour instead.
He could only see your backside, but from the front your eyes turned a bright mix of red, pink and purple swirls.
"Excuse me~" your sultry voice filled the air causing many to freeze, almost as if you had taken control of them. The tone was like honey, thick but sweet. It made many develop a set of shivers, some letting their minds wander.
Your voice and loving eyes with you had caused the Minatour to cease his running, he ended up tripping on the road and skidded close you, his eyes now matching yours as your lips pulled into a seductive smile, your cupids bow lips plump and luscious.
"Thank you, are you ready to listen~?" The Minatour could only nod before you suddenly raised your leg up, dropping your heel on his head, knocking him out efficiently.
You turned back to Bakugou who just stared.
Wide, red eyes just staring. You couldn't tell if he was pissed or what, but the Villan was delt with and that's all that matters.
"Thanks for letting me play, it's been a real treat," you winked, walking off past Bakugou who turned and caught your arm, stopping you from moving.
The press and media, who appeared out of the shadows, took this opportunity and began to captures photos, videos, quotes, anything their greedy hands could get.
"Excuse us! What's your quirk?!"
"Are you a new Pro Hero!?"
"Do you have a Working Quirk License!?"
"How do you feel about getting up close and personal with Ground Zero himself!?"
You rolled your eyes at the last question, pulling your arm away from Bakugou as you shot him a sideways look, "Yeah cause a model who role plays as a Pro Hero for pictures and is a jerk about saving people, is someone I wanna get personal with,"
"Oi! You could be a little more grateful I got you out of his grip there Hippie Eyes!" Bakugou growled, his face showing aggravation but his mind was racing with questions about you.
'Who are you?'
'What is your quirk?'
'Are you a Pro?'
'You wanna go out sometime'
He shook that last thought from his head, eyes locking with yours as you just smirked,
"Yeah, next time I wanna be man handled for telling a guy no I'll call you,"
With that you turned and walked off, waving a hand without looking back, "See ya Blast Boy,"

Enemies to Lovers
Tsu'tey x reader (younger sister of Jake Sully)
Anything written in italics is spoken in Na'vi
âKeep up!â Jake snaps at me as he holds a large leaf back. âNeytiri hates having to wait.â I pass by the leaf and roll my eyes.Â
âI saw that.â His tail flicks with annoyance.Â
âYou were supposed to,â I retort back with a smile. He shakes his head and keeps leading me towards Hometree. Jake has been selected by the Omatikaya to learn their ways. Which is what Tom and I had trained for, before he died. So now Iâm on Pandora with Jake, the most overprotective and annoying older brother, ever.Â
 As if reading my thoughts, he turns back and raises his eyebrows at me. âWhat?â
âNothing.â I shrug innocently. âI just canât believe they chose you.âÂ
âYea well, join the club. I think Norm is the president of it.â He flicks his braid behind him and picks up his pace. I laugh before almost stumbling over a thick root. Iâm still getting used to my avatar body and my large boots only make it harder.Â
âYou know, itâd be easier if you ditched the Earth clothes,â Jake says without turning around. Iâm about to sass him when I snap my mouth shut. Jake worked hard to convince Neytiri to consider training me; I owe him one.Â
We move quickly, Jake making his way easily through the terrain as I stagger behind him. Pandoraâs forest glistens above me. Animalâs Iâd only ever studied, jump from branch to branch, making foreign sounds. Flowers that glow and twirl, sprout from around my feet. I want to sit and take samples, Grace would love that. But Jake wouldnât stop, not for that.
âAnd,â Jake begins, breaking the silence that had settled between us,âplease be respectful. Respect is big to the Omatikaya.âÂ
Seriously? Itâs like Jake forgets that Iâm that one who actually trained to come to Pandora. I raise my hands up in a sarcastic surrender. âIâll be so respectful. I learned from you, big bro.âÂ
Jake narrows his eyes. âDonât be a smartass.âÂ
âWell, I am the smart one.â
Jake scoffs. A colorful prolemuris chitters innocently as it hangs from a nearby branch. I raise an eyebrow at my brother. He opens his mouth to say something when a blue figure falls elegantly through the trees.Â
I recognize Neytiri instantly as she lands in a crouch, her eyes wide. I freeze, full of shock that she just jumped from so high. Jake smirks at the surprised look on my face. I suppress the urge to stick my tongue out at him. Neytiri slowly stands and takes a step towards me. Her eyes rake over my body, taking in my five fingers, long hair, and eyebrows. She takes another step closer and sniffs before grimacing slightly as if I smell. I pull my arms closer to my sides.Â
âOne smartass is enough,â she mumbles as she inspects my sky people clothes. She walks behind me and flicks my tail.Â
I jump before turning to her. âTrust me, I am actually worth it.âÂ
Neytiriâs eyes shoot to my face, making eye contact with me for the first time. I smile at her, trying my best to seem friendly, which is not my strong suit. She tilts her head to the side. âYou speak Naâvi?â
âYes, I studied it before coming here.âÂ
âSo you are not a warrior, like Jake?â
Jake tenses at the recognition of his name. âHey, English please?â
Neytiri doesnât react to his plea, her stony eyes remain on me. Jake looks at me, his ears laying irritatedly against his head. Â
I could lie to Neytiri, tell her that Iâve never been a warrior and never had any training, that I am simply a scientist. But my insides twist at the thought. Something in the way Neytiri is studying me, I know if I lie, sheâd see right through me.Â
âI was a warrior,â I say, the words bitter in my mouth, âBut now Iâm a scientist.âÂ
The sudden silence is deafening, itâs like the forest is holding its breath, waiting for Neytiriâs response. She continues to stare, her thoughtful yellow eyes lingering on my chest, as if she sees my anxious breath. Then, she straightens herself and looks at Jake. âI will teach your sister and you.âÂ
His shoulders relax. âThank you.âÂ
âThank you,â I repeat.Â
She raises her head. âCome.âÂ
~~~
Naâvi clothes are not clothes. Theyâre thongs and bras trapezing around as if they are clothes. I stare in a dusty mirror, my blue body with hardly any covering stares back. I groan.
Neytiri had walked me through some side entrance of Hometree, claiming that my sky people clothes would not be welcome here. Weâd walked up an outerspiral of the tree. Small fires lit the way as we ran on the smooth bark until we came to a miniature alcove. Sheâd given me some loincloths before ordering me to change and leaving.Â
Now, I try again to arrange the cloths over my parts. I yank at the string covering my butt. The material flaps uselessly before falling down again, covering nothing. What Iâd do for some shortsâŚÂ Â
Neytiri rounds the corner as I have one finger up my ass trying to shove the material further over.Â
âArgh!â She exclaims as she rushes over and swats my hand away. âWhat are you doing?â
âI donât think these clothes fit.âÂ
Neytiriâs eyes go flat and she looks at me like Iâm an idiot. âThey fit.âÂ
Iâm about to protest when she pushes me out of the alcove. I stumble slightly, before my bare feet find their balance on the downward spiral. Hometree is massive, the inner spirals are a confusing maze, one that intrigues me. The inner layout isnât in any textbook. I would be more than ecstatic if I didnât feel so naked. Neytiri walks in front of me. Her shoulders are loose but I can sense her peeking at me from the corner of her eye.Â
âThe clan is gathered for dinner. Jake is already there,â Neytiri explains as we reach the ground level of Hometree. The entire floor is covered with Omatikaya, warriors, healers, and families. Young children run past us, their tails flying behind them as they call after each other. The roar of conversation fills the space as people settle on the ground to eat. Â
Neytiri keeps walking, accustomed to the beauty of her clan. I follow her, taking in every detail of my surroundings. The beaded headwear certain men wear, a game with marbles that children are playing, and the soft beat of drums. Clan members stare openly at me. Some of them are curious, their ears perked up; but most of them glare at me.Â
âDemon,â a man hisses as I pass. I jolt at the fierceness of his voice. Neytiri grabs my shoulder and forces me forward before I have a chance to respond.
Jake sits criss crossed with his back against the far wall, a small distance away from any other clan members. His face brightens when he sees us. The closer we get, he begins to grin. Once weâre right in front of him, his head hits the back of the tree as he lets out a laugh.Â
âDonât say a single word,â I spit at him. Heâs not gonna be able to help himself, heâs just going to have to make fun ofâ
âGod, thatâs worse than your bikiniâs on Earth,â he manages to say between spurts of laughter. Neytiri looks cluelessly at us.Â
âI will kill you,â I say calmly.Â
Neytiriâs head cocks to the side as if that thought intrigued her. Jake stops laughing and puts his hands up in fake surrender. I roll my eyes and sit down beside him.Â
âWait for the clan to get their food, then you may have some,â Neytiri states before turning and working her way through the crowd.Â
Jake and I donât talk in her absence. Our relationship is used to silence. There was a time, when we both trained for the Marines, where we talked about deeper things. Then everything happened, and I had to leave, and Jake and I grew apart. I try not to think about that year. If I ignore it long enough, itâll be like it never even happened.Â
When I left the army, I joined Tom for avatar training and prepared to leave for Pandora. Seeing Jake in Tomâs avatar is like a knife being constantly twisted into my gut, digging deeper and deeper. I take a deep breath. I donât want to think about Tom or life back on Earth; I came to Pandora to get away from it all.Â
A large fire burns in the middle of the floor where Naâvi fill their plates. Laughter and conversation infuses the space, giving it a pleasant ambience. Growing up here, having a community like this, must be so nice. They donât even know how good they have it. If only we humans could understand. Neytiri appears in the crowd and works her way over to us, three plates balancing in her hand.Â
Jakeâs eyebrows raise. âThink she brought us some?â
My stomach growls. I didnât even know my avatar could do that. âI hope so.âÂ
Neytiri stops in front of us, an annoyed expression on her face. Iâm starting to think thatâs just how she always looks. âI brought your dinner. Best you stay further away from the clan.â
âRight,â Jake says as he reaches for the plate, âthank you.âÂ
I take my plate from her, âthanks.âÂ
Neytiri settles in across from us, her eyes lingering on her clan members. Sheâs probably wishing she could eat with them instead of us. I push the thought away and dig into my food. Itâs some kind of meat, probably sturmbeest, and a selection of sweet fruit. I take a bite and instantly melt, flavors bursting on my tongue. âThis is good.â
Neytiri ignores me and eats her own food. Jake nudges me with his shoulder, telling me he thinks itâs good too. I relax a little, suddenly grateful for him.Â
âNeytiri,â he begins, âwill we be hunting tomorrow?â
I chase a small piece of fruit around my plate, it sprays pink juice all over my fingers.Â
âYes,â Neytiri answers curtly.Â
âYouâve brought another?â A foreign voice says. I snap my head up to find a Naâvi man standing before us. His muscular chest is covered in a beaded piece that crawls up his neck. He glares venomously at me, the hatred in his gaze sends chills down my spine. I narrow my eyes on him. I know who he is, Iâve seen his pictures in my textbooks. Itâs Tsuâtey.Â
Neytiri hisses. âNot now, Tsuâtey.âÂ
âThey will never be one of us,â He says, his eyes boring into mine. He tilts his head slowly as he looks me over, he lingers on where my five fingers are stained with juice from the fruit. He chuckles and shakes his head incredulously. âEspecially not the new one.âÂ
Heat rushes to my cheeks. Iâm rarely embarrassed or offended by other people, but something about Tsuâtey sets me off. His words nestle under my skin. I open my mouth to snap at him when Jake places his hand on my forearm, as if he can feel the anger rising off of me.
âTsuâtey,â Jake mutters, âalways a pleasure.â
Tsuâteyâs lip curls with distaste as he looks at Jake. His entire presence is dangerous and lethal, he doesnât even need to speak. I rub the side of the loincloth. Neytiri rolls her eyes at him. âGo on.âÂ
âDonât waste your time,â Tsuâtey whispers to Neytiri, just loud enough so I can hear, âthat new one canât even sit still in her clothing.âÂ
Neytiri giggles, making my blood boil. Tsuâtey looks smug as he leans back. My vision darkens.Â
âI could sit still on your throat until you run out of breath,â I say with deadly calm.Â
Neytiri gasps as shock registers on Tsu'teyâs face, his mouth dropping open. Clearly he didnât think I spoke Naâvi. Pretentious asshole. Jake looks confused between us all. âWhatâsââ
âI could have your life for that,â Tsuâtey interrupts Jake, seethingly. His eyes look like theyâve been set on fire. Theyâre practically ablaze as he stares into me, his hands shaking furiously at his side.Â
âCalm down, Tsuâtey,â Neytiri says before eyeing me cautiously, the ghost of a smile playing on her lips. âPeople are noticingâŚâÂ
Tsuâtey inhales sharply. Multiple clan members stare at us, alarm and curiosity coating their features. Tsuâtey steps back slowly, his eyes assessing the sudden attention were receiving. He sets his strong jaw, the movement highlights the high arch of his cheekbone.Â
âIâll be seeing you, alien,â he mutters through clenched teeth. I fight the urge to flick him off as he turns away.Â
The clan members go back to their own conversations and my heart rate returns to normal. Jake blows out a breath of air. âWhat the hell was that?â
Tsuâteyâs blue backside glitters as he passes by the firelight. Multiple people greet him as he passes, he gives them each a tense and strained nod. He is a seriously stressed out guyâŚ
âYour sister,â Neytiri begins, âshe is interesting.âÂ
My eyebrows shoot up in surprise. Neytiriâs eyes are crinkled as she looks at me, like sheâs seeing something in me that she hadnât seen before.Â
Jake laughs. âThatâs one word for it.âÂ
I smack him playfully. Neytiri smiles at the gesture, now observing my brother and I. After a moment, she goes back to her food. Jake begins asking her about our training plans tomorrow.
Tsuâtey is now standing with a group of men on the other side of the fire, the light washes over his chiseled arms. They talk animatedly, smacking each otherâs back and laughing. What are they talking about? I cock my head to the side, watching how Tsuâtey fixes his chest piece and listens to his friends. I wonder if heâs an asshole to them too or if thatâs just reserved for special cases.Â
He nods to one of his friends, his beaded hair flicks across his ears before he turns. His eyes lock with mine from across the fire. I flinch at the sudden contact. His eyes darken, making my stomach drop. I quickly look away and pretend to be a part of Jake and Neytiriâs conversation. I can feel the weight of his stare, it pierces me, like heâs tearing me apart with just his eyes. My breathing quickens and I try to focus on the conversation in front of me but I canât process anything. Tsuâteyâs raging face keeps popping into my mind.Â
After a few moments, I finally get myself under control. Heâs just some asshole, I canât be this bothered by some guy being rude. I risk glancing back to where he stood across the fire. Heâs gone. I let out a relieved sigh, but something still curls in my stomach. That wonât be the last I see of Tsuâtey.
Beautiful Sounds
Neteyam x Metkayina!Deaf!FReader
Summary: Neteyam finds a way
Warnings: Fluffffffff for daayyys, angst đ we are caught up in our feelings, not proof read
A big thank you to @iikatsukii for this idea! I hope you like it, I tried my best đđ
Part 2 to this little beauty:
Neteyam thought he could never love anything so much until he met you. Learning your clans ways brought new insights to how the world can be so different but still beautiful. You were an example of that.
Even though you couldn't hear, you learned how to dance with elegance from the vibrations in the sand, he saw the patience you had with children, taking the time to guide them and understand what they needed, sometimes better than their own parents.
What really took his heart was how you found the simple joys of everyday life. The look of bliss on your face when the ocean sprays you with its salty mist, the contempt in your eyes as you looked at your family and friends. The love you expressed through your hands and body when you hugged or kissed him.
He thought you deserved to hear more than anyone, which is why after two months of communicating and deliberation with Norm and Max, they finally made the first set of hearing implants for Na'vi. A beautiful aqua to match your skin tone, and water proof so you could hear underwater as well.
As Neteyam watched from the shoreline as you raced your sister on Ilus, he couldn't help but feel nervous. He's practiced so hard with you and the others with sign language and yet he still continued to mess up sometimes. You never got angry or upset, just flashed your beautiful smile and repeated what he was trying to sign so he could practice again.
He'd especially been practicing for something special to you when the time came right, of course getting past Tonowari and Ronal wouldn't be easy. Taking one last glance at your figure, he turned and headed for the Marui pod that he knew your family resided in.
~.~
Ronal hissed and threw a shell at Neteyam which he ducked out of the way of, "You dare ask me such a question! That demon device will ruin her!" Tonowari just shook his head at his mate, she was nearing the end of her pregnancy and was very cranky.
"It'll help her hear! She can finally here all of you and everything around her!" Neteyam raised his hands in the air, trying to calm the angry pregnant woman. "Ronal, maybe she should give it a chance," Tonowari reasoned, Ronal growling lowly.
"You want to change her? You asked us mere days ago to mate and now you want this!? I pray to Great Mother to have the strength to not bury you alive! Skxawng!"
"No I don't want to change her! I want her to experience things that I know she longs for," Tonowari placed his hand on Ronal's shoulders giving her a look to calm down. Ronal did so, but not happily.
Both turned towards the young man, which he took as a continuation, "I promise, I love everything about her. The way she looks at the horizon with longing, wanting to go there and explore. The way (Y/n) wants to join in on everything everyone is doing but knows she can't hear everything, you may not have seen it, but I can. I hate that she cannot experience the wonderful sounds of the world, but if I could help her make one thing...The thing I know she may long for the most happen, I would crawl through viper thorns to do so, so please, let me try this," he begged at this point, taking a knee before the leaders of the clan.
Glancing at eachother, Tonowari spoke for both, "Very well, if she wants to try it, you have our blessing," Neteyam grinned, thanking them as he ran out the Marui pod to find you.
"You know he would never hurt her, Ronal?" Tonowari smiled at his mate gently, who rolled her eyes in annoyance, "Maybe Eywa will give me strength to not bury you, Tonowari,"
~.~
You huffed air laughing as Neteyam grabbed your hand, dragging you through the trees that surrounded the island.
Tapping his hand, he turned to you so he could watch, 'Where are we going?'
'Somewhere private' he replied, your smile wide as you let him carry on guiding you.
Coming to a beach front, your eyes saw a wonderful sight of a hand weaved blanket on the beach with some delicious fruit you adored. The sun was almost the horizon, the beauitful shades of orange and pink beginning to shine on the clouds and sky.
He led you down and helped sit you on the blanket, his eyes holding nothing but love for you. You returned the gaze, hand caressing his face as he lightly pecked your lips.
"I have something, for you," he gestured, you nodding, eyes staring at his figure so you wouldn't miss anything.
Pulling out a blue box from his hip bag, he opened it to reveal two small, weird looking devices. Your eyebrow furrowed, glancing up at him confused. Was this a forest thing? Why did it look like something sky demons made?
"Oh right, um," Neteyam mumbled to himself, licking his lips as he put the box down, hands moving slowly as he thought each sign out.
"These," points to the box, "help you, hear," he tried to keep it short and to the point. Yet this only confused you more.
"I cannot hear, how can these help me?" Your hands were moving quickly, 'I don't understand-' he took your hands into his, holding them close to his chest to try and regain your attention, your eyes narrowed with unease and confusion.
He let go slowly, his hands moving the same time as his lips, "These go in here," he gestured to your ear, "and when turned on, they let you hear," you slowly nodded, Neteyam picking up the box and holding it to you, the sunset reflecting of your eyes as you nodded to him.
Closing your eyes as you felt his hand gently place the small things in your ears, the other holding your cheek in reassurance.
He pressed on something, a small high pitched noise filled your ears which made your eyes shoot open. You looked around frantically, hands covering your ears and the devices from the shock of hearing something for the first time.
Neteyam placed his hands over yours, holding your head as your eyes turned to him with fear. He breathed in and out, eyes trained on yours as you began to copy him, slowly relaxing.
You both moved your hands, your ears twitching as you heard something else. A soft roaring and crashing sound that made you look to the water, eyes filling with tears as you signed, "waves?" His face lighting up and nodding, taking your hand as he helped you up.
You stared out into the giant mass of blue, the sound of the waves flooding every sense you had. The distant calls of birds and animals soon followed, all overwhelming but yet so majestic in your eyes.
Your hands came to cover your mouth and muffle your sobs as you began to cry. The world sounded different than you had ever thought, it sounded better.
Neteyam wrapped his arm around your shoulder to comfort you. Your shoulders slowly stopped shaking as you gazed up at him.
"(Y/n)" he whispered, your face morphing into one of disbelief. He sounded as gorgeous as he looked.
You tapped his lips, a grin on your face as you turned your body to face him completely now. "You can hear me?" He asked, your smile wide as you nodded. "There's something I want to ask you. I thought I would ask like this, but I want to ask you in your own way," he gently caressed your face as you nodded, feeling a small rush of adrenaline from all the excitement.
You never thought he would go through all this trouble for you, this just showing you how much he truly cared.
He held your hands, giving them a squeeze before taking a step back to see your whole body. Also incase he had to run from rejection.
'You are so beautiful,' he started, your eyes narrowing in curiosity, wondering where he was going with this. You were very flattered though as you shyly shuffled.
'When I look at you, I think of home' he started fumbling a little bit, but you smiled at him which gave him strength to keep going. "I want to spend the rest of my life, with you,'
Your mind suddenly went blank, realizing what he was asking, 'Will you be my mate?' He finished with a shy smile, but you were only staring at him with a blank expression.
A cold shiver ran down his spine, you weren't saying or doing anything. Just starting at him.
"(Y/n)?" He asked softly, taking a step forward to grab your fingers, but you jerked back suddenly, your ears flattened as you turned and ran.
Neteyam could only stare heartbroken as you disappeared from view, the sun now down below the horizon.
~.~
'You did what!?' Tsireya signed, but you didn't see it as you were hiding your face in your hands in shame. Tsireya tapped you, your glossy eyes looking at her disbelief ones. 'You left him without an answer? I thought you loved Neteyam!' 'I do!' You began, teeth gritting together, 'why would he want me?' You sobbed, tears begging to flow passed your waterline, Tsireya looking at you in empathy. 'I cannot hear, I cannot talk well, I only babble like newborn baby,' you began to hiccup, 'He gave me these to help me hear, I wish to talk to him like he can with me, but my voice is ugly,'
Tsireya grabbed your shoulders, her look fierce as she shook her head, "No! Your voice is beautiful and unique!" She knew you didn't take the sky peoples devices out, so you could hear her.
And hear her you would.
"Neteyam begged mother and father for weeks before they agreed! He planned these hearing devices for months. He loves you, all of you!" Tsireya exclaimed, your whimpers making her hug you close. "If you wish to speak to him, we will help you," Tsireya declared, her heart breaking for her older sister.
(Y/n) spent her whole life looking after others, even with the loss of hearing. Tsireya felt a few tears slip through her own eyelashes as she's never seen you this upset before. You were always smiling for everyone, the first one out and the last one in. You never told anyone how you truly felt.
Tsireya promised to Eywa she would make it right.
~.~
You avoided Neteyam for days, diving out of sight when you caught a glimpse of the oldest Sully sibling, your heart filled with guilt. You never meant to hurt him, but how could you face him before you were ready.
The Sully siblings, aside from Neteyam, knew what you were doing and tried their best to help both sides, but they still felt bad for their oldest brother.
Your own siblings helped you morning and night in getting your words more precise and clean, the pronunciation being the hardest as you technically never had to speak Na'vi or English before.
You sat in that beach shore cove Neteyam had brought you to only days prior, your eyes clenched in frustration as you tried again.
"oil ngatee kameee," the simple phrase of 'I see you' fell from your lips as you groaned in your throat. You were never going to get it, they sounded slurred together and it was hard to understand.
Taking a deep breath, you closed your eyes and tried again, "oel ngati kameie," this time it sounded better, but you really had to think and enunciate with your lips.
Head falling into your hands, you felt a few tears slip out. Why did Neteyam choose you? There are better girls, ones who weren't at a disadvantage like you were.
Standing up, you turned to see Neteyam right behind you.
You gasped inwardly, taking a few steps back. Neteyam only stared at you with a inquiring look, but you could see the hurt in his eyes too.
'I'm sorry,' you signed, looking down so your bohemian knotless braids covered your face. You couldn't face him. 'I'll leave now,' you made to scurry past him when he grabbed your hand, your breath hitching as you were frozen in place.
He carefully walked around to face you, his face looking solem at your stiff body. 'Why?' He questioned, you feeling tears staring to build up. 'Many girls better than me,' you answered, his shocked expression taking you off guard. 'No one is better than you, I only want you, now and forever,' he signed passionately, your tears streaming down your face as you shook your head.
'I sound like a baby, I cannot talk like an adult,' you desperately tried to get him to see, but he only shook his head at you.
'I have never heard your voice, but your quiet huff bring music to my ears. My heart yearns for yours so that they may beat together. Make their own sound, together. As one," Neteyam emphasized, never seeing you look so down heartened as you did right now.
Lo'ak had finally cracked and told him that you'd been practicing your voice and speech so that you could be better. Better for him. When all Neteyam wanted was you. He was so lost these last few days, never seeing you and his thoughts running wild on why you rejected him.
'Please, I stand here with my heart for you. I only want you, (Y/n)," he whispered, pressing his forehead to yours, his eyes closed in pain as he wished you could see yourself how he does.
"Neteyam," you whispered, his eyes shooting open as your lips twitched. "Yes," you said answered, his face changing rapidly between emotions.
"Y-yes? Yes you'll be my mate?!" He exclaimed, his eyes turning glossy as he realized you'd just spoken to him. You laughed and nodded, Neteyam cackling as he picked you up and spun you around.
"She said yes!" He yelled out, both of you now laughing like idiots as he fell back, both of you landing in the sand.
You rolled over, lips connecting with his with urgency as he gave it right back. Both of you in each other's embrace, fitting perfect together like a puzzle.
'I love you,(Y/n)' he signed, eyes filled with adoration cause you to smile back shyly, "I love you, Neteyam,"
Even though Neteyam had given you the blessing of being able to hear, the most beauitful sound you'd ever heard was his voice.
You couldn't wait to listen to it for the rest of your life.
I had a ton of figure skating videos pop up on my FYP on TikTok and I couldn't stop imagining Bakugou falling for a figure skater after only seeing them skate one time.
The music I was listening to while writing this was "Schindlers List"
Showing up to the rink early for his hockey practice hoping to get some warm ups before the rest of the team only to find you alone on the ice, known to him that you had rented the rink for an hour to practice your short program.
The music playing over the speakers had a chorus of violins playing, the softness of your arms catching his eyes as you glide effortlessly across the ice, white skates moving in a dance like sequence as you performed a triple lutz triple toe loop combo and landing it perfectly, skating backwards.
The gentle smile on your face as you slid across the ice, eyes flickering over to the tall, muscular blonde who you knew as your Colleges Hockey Captain, Bakugou Katsuki. You usually practiced after his team, but decided to get an earlier practice in before your competition tomorrow.
Red meeting your eyes as you held eachothers gaze gaze for a moment before you turned to preform a scratch spin, your program coming to an end as you spun fast in the center of the rink before stopping on a dime the same time the music ended as the silence rang out in the almost empty rink.
Bakugou couldn't take his eyes off of you as you ended your routine, suddenly feeling very warm in the cold building. He didn't know who you were or why he'd never met you before, but he was curious and when his interest is peeked he's going to follow through to the end. You weren't leaving that ice without his number and he wasn't gonna let you go anywhere without him from that point forward.
I'm pretty sure they did, after all, Harry and Draco did have a 'Wand' fight in the bathroom...
This is probably the dumbest article MTV has ever written. Theyâre criticizing JK Rowling for not adding underage erotica to her novels? Seriously, MTV?
