Oh yes, CN was probably the introduction to anime for every person in this region. And at least they showed the uncensored shows late in night rather than having weird censorship changes like 4Kids, and for my child self watch that kind of violence in animation was a new experience (even if ironically people say later Naruto got more soft than early arcs).
...
Cider is totally the kind of guy who flexes his mucles on porpuse in front of the person he knows is thirsty over him just for the funs. He's that guy.
Also I imagine he would have a small tattoo with the name of Izuku/Izumi somewhere...
...
Compress is a dumb and useless character overall, which is a shame because I find him attractive unmasked and his quirk is certainly interesting.
At least he has that going for unlike Spinner.
The whole cinderIzu is great and I welcome with open arms. For my au, I have an idea for them meet.
Again, BK is a footnote in her life and Izumi is not dedicating all her time and energy in thinking of him. (She hears how his quirk remains the same, no quirk awakening bs, how bk's attitude got worse and how Aizawa is sure BK is the future)
Izumi hears about the mpa here and there and ...is not impressed. She needs money, her group can't work by luck...they need ration and more, and Izumi is not happy ReDestro has "schools" for kids to learn their quirks...its just a camp where the kid learns how to use their quirk AND NOTHING ELSE (Geten my be alliterate here)
Stealing from Redestro is not something she can pull off on her own. She needs help to do this heist.
(the quirk schools aren't illegal, per se, but it rubs Izumi in the wrong way. She is right)
Enters Cinder. He shows up with his helmet, all gear up and...well, he too needs money and Mr. Youtsubashi is loaded and if he wants to make quirk schools, fine...let's rob the fucker.
Izumi gawks as Cinder removes his helmet. He is handsome and cute...she wasn't expecting this.
Lol
(I love a good mask reveal!)
I also live for the moments when a character takes of their mask and reveals to be hot, and Cider isn't the exception. I mean can you blame Midoriya for what him?
Note: Izu probably loves in particular the little scar Cider got in his eyebrown, he/her found that detail to be especially sexy.
...
Is funny you mention the whole plot of Cider helping Izu to steal stuff from Re-Destro company, as I also have this idea of him making an operation to steal from a werehouse full of valuable tech and support items that Detnerant (I think that's the company name) sells into the black market.
They would have success stealing a lot of merch they later sell to get money, but also Cider found a particularly expensive prototype of a high tech glider he decides to keep for himself and use to compliment his surfing style. As Mizunami is really into surfing in my AU, like he seems to be in canon.
Oh I forgot to mention before but the vigilante name Cider/Mizunami will use for my AU will be "Splashdown". Be free to use it if you like the name.
And since you mentioned Geten here, do you think he will have some role in the story? As I mentioned before I love the idea of Cider being a Himura, but also he probably was rejected by his clan because his quirk is water instead of ice and the Himuras seems to be the kind of elitist jerks to would dishonor a child for born with a "imperfect" quirk.
Which would create a lot of tension between Cider and Geten, especially is they reconogice each other. Geten hating Cider for being "a failed Himura" and Cider will hate Geten because he's just a "an attack dog" for Re-Destro.
Geten as the 5th sibling feels correct.
siblings
I wouldn't call everyone in MHA handsome (look at Spinner).
But yeah... something really funny about lov stans is that they don't seem to like the canon characters they claim to love, they only are fans of these weird idealized fanon versions of a bunch of psychos and surprise surprise, they get a bit mad when Horikoshi doesn't follow their weird headcanons.
Have you ever wonder why lov stans were so mad when Dabi the maniac serial killer didn't turn to be a secret knight in white armor who fight for his family and is a sjw? His fans eated his fanon version for so many years that eventually accepted that as real, and got a breakdown moment when the canon Dabi was nothing like the fanfics.
Compress on the other hand doesn't even have much of a fanon identity either. Aside of the "dad" jokes he's kinda ignored.
I wish the concept of the grandson of a villain Robin Hood from the old tines was used for a hero instead, that would be an interesting spin for a character who wants to "correct" the legacy of his bloodline.
Have you ever think on how rewrite Compress?
Like I've always thought he must be one of the worse written characters in this series, and that's saying a lot when your writer is Horikoshi.
Outside of being handsome under that stupid outfit and his quirk, everything about Compress is kind of lame. Many other characters have similar concepts but much better execution.
I have some ideas to change his entire role, but nothing serious yet.
Hi @nyc3
Glad you ask bc...I never really gave much thought on Compress. Yes, he is handsome (everyone in MHA is handsome but Izu who Hori says is a gag character) but the man is ...meh, to me. Lov stans go nuts and call him the "dad of the group" and jokes aside....
He isn't even remotely close to be on this label. Kuro? I get it (even if Shig is uncaring for the Nomu. I get why, more or less, I mean I can imagine it's bc how Kuro was passive in the whole shit afo did...but shig still remain faithful to afo) but Mr. Compress is nothing.
Yes, he says one nice thing to Toga (another nutcase) but this is nothing. I do admit lov can work with each other and it's more than Izu gets...but that's the bare minimum.
So no. Mr. Compress is just a big nothing....but he is handsome.
At least he isn't a Spinner.
Dont be a Spinner.
Drew a little Naoya sketch as a break from the art I’m working on
Giulio said it's a real free state
Also technically it's a spring fling but whatever, Deku is going to get a real taste of Italy and I'm not talking about wine or spaghetti 👅
i hope everyone who's said this abt giulio and ship deku w giulio learn that giulio is an adult in like his 20's or smth i dont remember what age he is and that izuku is still 17 and i hope they get embarrassed and im giulio x deku's #1 hater rody's better rody's better rody's better rody's better rody's better rody's better
also no hate to giulio AT ALL, i haven't watched the movie yet but ever since his art and all that came out i've loved his design and he seems like a cool character. i just HATE people who say he's “deku’s next summer fling” or ship him with deku 😭.
If Mustard stayed relevant, how would you characterize him? I mean things past his baseline "pragmatic psycho" thing he has going on.
Interesting question, as I do agree that Mustard would need more things personality wise to work with if he's going to be a more long term character.
At first he's indeed very pragmatic, especially compared to the rest of the league and his implied age being probably the youngest even behind Toga.
But as pragmatic he can be he's still a child with an inmature side, and we can see that when he gets angry at Tetsutetsu and can't help himself but act less carefully and being a bit overcondident. He also seems to destile some represed anger on what he considers an easy target.
I would like to explore more that side of him, as Mustard seems to be very resentful against the education system for some reason, maybe is his "villanous" quirk that left him without the opportunity of being a hero? Who knows, but his dialogue can be interpreted as he wants something about hero schools and hates the ones who have the privilege of go to UA for example.
Other thing I would do with Mustard is explore the idea of him not fitting with the LoV.
Because let's be real, he doesn't fit there at all. His style and approach to crime sooner or later will clash with the rest of the members, especially Shigaraki at that point of the story and I can't see Mustard taking his bs once AFO is out of the picture and crusty boy has to lead.
Mustard might be a child but probably he has more clear ideas than the rest of the LoV and once the initial hype for shooting people and do random chaos he would think Shigaraki ideas of destroy everything are worthless crap, so he obviously will aim for better objetives.
I can imagine Mu having a bit of superiority complex and leaving the LoV for look better oppotunities with people who can aspire to bigger plans. Probably the Shie Hassaikai following the canon timeline.
But also, I would like give Mustard a more vulnerable and human side outside being just a gunnuts.
The fact he's a child in a world of crime and danger might have more downsides for him than he initialy realizes.
I can see Mustard sometimes feeling alone and out of place next to a lot of people way older than him.
He might want to have friends of his age like a normal child would do, even if he tries to negate that idea.
Also where is his family? Mustard would likely want to have a place to call home and feel loved, despite tries to convince himself to no need such basic things.
That's what I can think for now. Mustard had a really cool concept to imagine scenarios if he stayed as a recurrent character.
I don't dislike scarless Dabi, but I feel his scars are part of the charm. Without it he would look more generic.
Kinda like Shoto scar, it is just too iconic to take it away.
Perhaps the only thing I would change about his design is that his hair should be half white half red, like it was at one point of his childhood:
It would fit better in the narrative of "he always had ice powers inside".
Besides ironically Dabi is the only child among the Todorokis with a solid hair color, because the rest have some kind of red in some way.
Even Natsuo has red stripes in the manga but the anime deleted that detail.
This type of bodies need more appreciation:
Look I love big muscular dudes as much as the next guy, but there's something beautiful about skinny dudes as well.
No thoughts, just Steampunk Shindo looking awesome and handsome.
This aesthetic fits so well with him.
Also in the popularity poll art it seems like he also was using eyeliner and wearing piercings, something not present in later illustrations of him.
They should have keep those details, they look really cool
I know... a lot of characters I love got totally wasted. It's a curse or something.
Funny you mention the Dabi likeness, as many people like to headcanon Cider as a Himura.
I quite like the idea myself, just because then Shoto would have two villains cousins to take care of after the war ends.
You can't imagine how much I love the Cider House leader guy...
A minor villain has no right to look so cool, badass and handsome like he does.
Also he probably got the best water quirk of the series.
Also he got so much sassy energy on top of having such insane drip.
Being one of his like 3 fans isn't easy, but still love him.
From my rare pair hell: the leader of Cider House (name unknown) x Deku.
So random, but I was imagining Deku being the first to respond to the report of the Cider House gang attacking the a nearest area so he goes there while they're robbing a restaurant.
His eyes are quickly directed to the attractive guy who seems to be the leader and wears a blue tank top, which makes Deku blush without even realize. He hear the leader claim of stealing the money and get some food; for some reason he looks pretty familiar to Deku.
The leader is quickly captured by a black whip and he faces a really creepy looking dark hero, and his gang members run away out of fear.
The dark hero seem to be preparing his fist to attack and the leader scared thinks his end is coming but... the dark hero just is holding a box of bento on his hand and he can feel a nice smile under the mask.
Deku: you know... you don't have to steal food I you want a meal.
Leader: Uh... okay... (for some reason he got a small blush because of the dark hero offering).
*the scene cut to them on a roof just eating the lunch together and being pretty close even if they don't realize**
Deku is keeping his objective of try understand why villains ended up like that and save them in or way or another, and he hears Cider story with interest, even commenting on how awesome Cider water quirk is.
At some point Deku holds the leader hand and promise to give him a chance to change for better, they both have an intense blush but the leader accepts the offer with a smile.
...
P.S: Imagine Bakugou reaction if he knew Izuku is getting along with the same villain he captured months ago, he's going to lose it for real lol.
Here you really are being a visionary, I gotta be real, I don't even remember seeing this guyjkjfdkj BUT from aesthetics only I like the match, the darker green - mint green looks good together
But also the guy is really pretty and attractive so no wonder Izuku would be eyeing him... And something about Deku being compassionate to villains that commit small crimes because he has the mind to understand that not everyone is doing this because they're some evil edgelord but because the world is unfair. I do think this could turn into a good relationship
And now i'm mad at you because this sounds really good in my head right now and i can't get content from it JSDKJKJDF is this the life rarepairs shippers choose....
Fun trivia: In the character page for Nine in the Volume Rising, we can see in Horikoshi sketches that the palms of his hands were supposed to have the little holes that allow an AFO user to physically steal quirks.
Same holes All For One and Shigaraki have:
Yet, in the movie itself the holes are totally absent from Nine's hands despite his gloves are clearly designed with that specific function in mind.
I guess the production just totally missed that detail in the translation from Hori sketches?
