Ouch.

I am in a weird state. I want to do three different things for my current story. Each requires different levels of thought and different processes in general.

Which sounds fine. Just do them one at a time, right?

Wrong.

I want to do these three things all at once. I lack the number of brains and arms for that. And lack the laptop amount for that. I can't write on two different tabs at once on the same laptop. I also can't write in a notebook and type on a computer at the same time.

And none of the three things involve writing the actual story. I have the better part of two chapters written. I'm just trying to get lore and settings written out so I can reference these things.

My brain is just absurdly all over the place.

To explain the different processes thing

-I write my lore related things in a notebook. A notebook that is strangely perfectly themed for the story I am writing. Some setting things get mentioned, but they aren't the focus of the notebook. Plot things also go here. Except I don't write outlines for plot things. I know what I want to happen and don't plan things. Yes, it becomes a discombobulated mess.

-I do character profiles on my laptop. It is very easy to reference while writing. Just flip between tabs. Obviously, I could also write my lore on my laptop, but I personally like having the lore in a notebook because I can make myself a table of contents and use plastic tabs to note the themes of certain parts for the story.

-I am thinking of having more general worldbuilding that is unrelated to lore be done on my laptop. Yes, this is my admission that I don't do worldbuilding often. I just have ideas and write them out with no planning. But I realize that that process won't work as easily for the type of story I am currently writing.

So for this poll, world building would be mostly settings, linguistic things, ecosystem things, and other things that would fall under this category aside from lore.

Lore would be the history of the world, mythological/religious things, and get into detail on the God-named and unnamed and their differences.

Character profiles would, as one could guess, would be character information compiled into a headache-inducing mess, especially since I don't actually have locations fully made (some exist but are unnamed, others are named and maybe exist as a concept without specifics, and others are vague ideas without names or specifics)

You'd think with that idea in mind, I would want to world build more, but I... I want to do all of these things at once

I wanted those to be alphabetical. I am a chaos gremlin.

My current story is being rewritten for the... I have no idea what number it is. My favorite part of writing this story is when the main character is just pronouns. Her original version took many, many paragraphs to get her name in. I have personal symbolism for doing this, and I can explain this later if anyone is curious.

For example, if I rewrite this story how it currently is, it takes two whole chapters to get her name. If it were up to me, she'd never be named. She'd just exist as pronouns. This would be intentionally done. Not because she doesn't have a name, but because that is how her narration is.

⛲️ - Is there anything [character] would be tempted to change if they went back in time?

Hades wouldn't want to go back in time initially. Time happens and all that. But after she discovers her abilities as a God-named of Hades, she'd probably try to use her powers to give her mother a bit more time. She respects that people die and all that, and that death has to happen, but she was quite close to her mother and so would try to give herself a few more days with her mother alive. She would not change how she lost her father, since he died in battle, which is more honorable than dying to a disease that, in universe, doesn't have a name, just symptoms.

Introducing Nightmaricwriter

I realized I don't have an introduction post here despite having things posted here, and that is the biggest pain since last week.

So here's me

I am Nightmaricwriter, but I often shorten that to Nightwriter, and if one wants, I can be called Night.

I am nineteen years old, and I attend college as a Creative Writing major.

I have been writing since... I think third grade, but I didn't fall in love with writing until sixth grade. I have been obsessed with reading for about the same amount of time. I started with original stories with fantasy elements, then got into the world of writing fanfiction, but the spark for writing original stories hasn't faded.

Current stories

Currently, I am working on a story called Stars Of The Sky, which I am hoping to turn into a book. It's about Hades, a god-named individual, leaving her Clan to discover how to better protect her Clan, but she discovers a myriad of things that she has to deal with.

There's also A Court of Death and Ruin (temporary name), an ACOTAR fanfiction. This is throwing Hades from Stars of the Sky into ACOTAR to cause problems for the original plot line.

Previously, I was working on Sightless, but I have abandoned that one temporarily because too many ideas go through my brain. This was about a female main character leaving a world that used her powers, alongside her twin brother and adopted brother, using her twin's power to travel to a new dimension and a new world. There, she discovers her absurd magic affinity and a dark god that only she has the capacity to slay.

I have also written a myriad of fanfiction, but will not discuss all of them because there is an absurd amount of them.

Fun Facts

-I identify as biromantic, as I am not sexually attracted to anyone, but I am romantically attracted to the binary genders.

That being said, I have a bad romantic history and might be very unlucky in that regard.

-My characters are usually on the spectrum of being attracted to just about anyone. Partially because it amuses me to write bi panic for very little reason, but also because some of me needs to be in my characters.

-I have a terrible sleep schedule and do nothing with the additional time that gives me. Seriously, waking up at three am is absurd when I don't have to be up until seven. It isn't every night, but it is almost every night.

I might write some character introduction posts once I have more characters with information created.

She lived in a superpowered world. Heroes and villains existed, and she became a vigilante due to not aspiring to be a hero from her early years and rules prohibited her from becoming a traditional hero because of that. She portrayed her power as the ability to predict the future, and the other vigilantes spread the rumor of her power being foresight. Thus, she got used by other vigilantes testing her power and using her to take down more villains.

As for her looks, she has jet black hair and pale skin, and her eyes were blue before her power developed but turned gold after. Her hair is wavy, but curls at the end! Like her hair is *trying* to be curly, but a majority just says no. It's loose curls. I also imagine her to have very faint freckles, but they don't show up easily despite how much she's in the sun. Like she can't tan to save her life. Below is a drawing I've done of her! The pose was stolen, I admit that, but her design has been with me for years. Well, not her eye color. I have no drawings of her eyes. Don't want to pass away from her staring me to death.

She Lived In A Superpowered World. Heroes And Villains Existed, And She Became A Vigilante Due To Not
She Lived In A Superpowered World. Heroes And Villains Existed, And She Became A Vigilante Due To Not

My main oc has me bsing my way through blacksmithing...

Anyway, she is a lovely, tall young woman who finds a passion in being aggressively protective of things, like her family or a village/community. Her narration reveals that she sees herself as disposable, which is also why I make a certain narration choice with her that becomes quite apparent initially. As her view of herself shifts from negative to positive, she starts seeing herself as a main character, which shows in the narration style.

She has a power she despises despite using it when she needs to--on animals, not people. She got traumatized the one time that happened. She covers her eyes due to her power, although she can still see. It's just that a thin cloth prevents her power from harming others. Anyway, her senses are extremely enhanced because of her power, leading to her narration mentioning her hearing sounds and such more often than not.

She got used by her birth world, which led to her fleeing and living in the woods for a year (which, in her world, is equivalent to two of our years). After which, she is brought to her chosen world. She's my little baby.
