Every weekend my grandpa and his brother went to the car dealership and talked and ate, at his funeral the people who worked there came and brought flowers in the Italian colors for my grandpa.

I wrongly trusted a Christian Zionist. And I know what they are like. My (Christian) grandma will go on and on about Israel and cry for the Jews, but minutes later will say that all Jews will go to Hell for not believing in Jesus.

I’ve known this friend for four years now and became much closer with him last year when he expressed anger at the people applauding October 7th. We’ve spent the last year talking about this stuff, sending each other ridiculous things said, and sending happy Jewish culture things. It’s been great. In a lonely time in most other places, I did not feel alone because of him.

And yet, he voted for Trump. I don’t get it. It goes against so much of what we agreed on (outside of Israel as well). Sorry, but a man saying he’ll deport the “enemies from within” (being democrats)(source), he’ll declare a national emergency and use the military for mass deportations (source), he’d get away with killing someone (source), and police should have “one really violent day” (source) sounds all too familiar. If you voted for that today (and, Hell, one of those comments goes back to 2016), I have no doubt you’d vote for the man (who’s also a felon but “better for the economy!”) saying the same exact things in 1933.

I bet I could tell a gen x or baby boomer some shit about a “new hot sauce in the eye challenge” and they’d immediately believe me and freak the fuck out about how stupid kids are. They always tell me about all these “challenges” that I’ve never heard of before.

I’m trying my best not to gatekeep because I truly believe almost all kids would really love the Percy Jackson books, so I want them to read, but I wish everyone read the books before watching anything. It’s just so much better.

Haven’t been worrying about spoilers either. The books have been out for years. Not for any exact scene but for any general plot point from the books there’s no spoiler warning, it’s been known lmao

Sure, it has been disheartening and depressing to see many Western opinion leaders I once admired abandon reason, abandon journalistic integrity, embrace ahistorical, counterfactual views and rail against Israel.

At the same time, though, I feel an overwhelming sense of nausea noticing many of Israel's loudest advocates in the West are deeply awful people who include enemies of democracy, Christian Nationalists, MAGA conservatives, and bigots of several varieties.

Those "allies" aren't friends to the Jewish State or the Jewish People.

I have nothing more insightful to say about this, I just wanted to acknowledge the constant, chronic nausea this seems to cause in me because...while I don't see it being discussed much, I'm betting that many of you feel the same.

Movements like Log Cabin Republicans and Queers for Palestine require a commitment to either dishonesty or willful ignorance to sustain their worldview.

MAGA Jews are no different in this regard.
