Everyday, the same thing will happen. A kiss for your lover in the morning then work until the last rays of sun can be seen and return to his arms at night.

You hate change.

Hate how his eyes don't hold the same love for you. He stops talking to you and asking how your day was. Body turning away from you whenever you try to hug him, an excuse always slipping from him.

You stayed for love.

Fixing things as if it'll turn back the same but cracks have already appeared and you couldn't do anything but watch.

Everything happens so suddenly, like you're floating but drowning at the same time.

His words gripping your heart so much that even breathing hurts.

But a fool you are, hugging him and trying to make him stay with you. Words of affection already spilling from you, shame and dignity already thrown out of the picture. Everything for him to love you again.

Hope was in your eyes when he turned around until a stinging silence greeted you.

For a brief moment, you believed that you could still save your love for him.

No tears escape from you as you cradle your burning cheek from being slapped. As the realization of everything dawned on you, your pitiful form kneeled against the floor. You felt everything all at once, while he stands there stunned.

Shaking hands tried to reach for you but you backed away from him like a cornered animal.

"I'm so sorry,... I didn't - I'm so sorry (Y/N). Please let me hold you. I'm so sorry love I didn't mean to, please"

"You slapped me?" you asked, still in denial that the man you spend all your years with can hurt you so much like this.

"I'm so sorry (Y/N), I don't know what got into me-"

"You're right" you look at him and for the first time you feel calm, like the final piece fitting into the puzzle.

"This relationship's not gonna work. I can't force myself to you if you don't love me anymore"

"That's not true, I still love you (Y/n). Can we just talk about this?"

Picking yourself up you removed the ring he had given you and handed it to him. Already done being the one who keeps this relationship alive. You're tired in fighting for his affection everyday as if his love was limited to only acknowledging your presence alone.

"Stop this (Y/n), put this back right now, what are you doing?!"

Everything was clear now, as if you'd been suddenly brought to light.

Love is not enough to save the both of you and this was the last straw to give everything up. So you let it all fall.

"Don't please, no you can't do this! (Y/n)!"

"I love you! Please! Just... just stop. Let's talk ok? (Y/n)?"

You didn't turn back, even if he tried to call for you, just as how you imagined he did in your dreams once upon a time when you're still naive, stupid, and hopeful.

Packing your belongings as quickly as you can, not wasting anymore time as he begs for you stay like how you beg for him earlier.

Regret fills him as he watches the only thing that matters to him walk out of his life, unable to stop you because he has already hurt you so much that the least he can do is to let you go.

He stood helplessly by the door, wishing you'd return and love him again, but you didn't even once look back.

geto supposes this is a bit odd—he doesn’t usually race to apartments and knock on doors incessantly at three am, he doesn’t usually show up in a wrinkled t-shirt and mismatched socks, and he doesn’t usually have his hair in a low bun that’s threatening to fall out any second.

but then again, he’s not usually staying up late at night and thinking about how the dude you called cute in your philosophy class is planning to ask you out tomorrow.

“suguru, what are you—”

“i love you,” he interrupts, a rushed and panted out statement, making your eyes widen. you stare at him, blinking as the light from the hallway stings your sleep hazed eyes.

“what are you—”

“i really fucking love you, and i think you should date me.”

and he does. geto suguru has been in love with you since the day you move next door to his childhood home. he’s been in love with you since the day you step foot on his lawn and tell him he needs a haircut. he’s been in love with you since the moment you worm your way into his life and bring your unwarranted opinions and know-it-all attitude, and he thinks that he’s the only one who deserves to love you at all.

the guy from philosophy (whatever his name is) doesn’t deserve your playful banter and witty remarks. he doesn’t deserve your random fun facts and ceaseless rambles. he doesn’t deserve your late night texts and whispered facetimes, and he doesn’t deserve you. not like geto does, at least, and geto suguru is not letting a mere schoolgirl crush come in the way of his carefully nurtured love.

“suguru, it’s three am,” you say in disbelief, rubbing the sleep from out of your eyes as you decide to acknowledge his (rather bold) statement after your brain starts functioning.

“that’s okay. i still love you at three am,” he shrugs, pouting to himself. he eyes your appearance, tries not to stare too hard at the way your shirt is a little low at the neckline, tries to avoid glancing at the plumpness of your lips for too long as you process his words with a soft frown.

“oh, really? you should know i’m rather grouchy when i’m sleepy,” you warn him, and then he cracks a smile—because that’s all he needs to hear to know you feel the same.

and he supposes it’s not hard to figure out that you do. it’s not hard to see that there’s love in the way you flick his forehead and tell him to piss off, or the way you curse him out as he steals your food with a scowl, or even the way you promptly leave him on read after every petty argument you have over text.

because there’s fondness in the way you fight back a smile as you roll your eyes, and there’s fondness in the way you slightly push your plate closer begrudgingly, and there’s fondness in the way you text him first the next day and ask if he’s ready to admit he’s wrong because you miss him.

and it’s an odd mix, the two of you, but your sun soaked fingertips against his moonlit skin feels as right as the sound of his name dancing off your lips, and he thinks you were made for him in every regard. so if he has to stand before you at three am and risk your wrath for waking you up, then he’ll gladly do that—so long as no asshole from philosophy is scoring a date with you tomorrow after class.

“yeah, i know,” he snorts, “you’re kind of grouchy all the time,” he adds, hand outstretched and carefully pressing against the curve of your cheek. you lean into his palm, let the roughness of his skin soothe over the longing in your heart.

“and you still want to date me?” you raise a brow.

“of course,” he says instantly, “so say you want to date me too. or i’ll resort to plan b.”

“what’s plan b?”

“killing the dude from philosophy that wants to ask you out,” he hums, “and everyone else that follows until i’m the only choice left.”

“i guess i have to say yes to avoid a lot of bloodshed then, don’t i?” you ask playfully.

but then your fingers smooth back loose strands of dark hair behind his ear, and your hand rests behind his head and pulls him closer—and he thinks maybe you’d have been inclined to say yes either way.

“oh definitely,” he grins, youth brimming over his features as your lips brush over his and seal the deal. and geto suguru has been in love with you since the day you move in next to his home, and he thinks he’ll love you just as much the day you move in next to his spot in bed too, arms circling around his waist and lips mapping his skin.

“in that case, lucky for them, i love you too.”

i have a little collection of websites i tend to use for coming up with ideas, naming people or places, keeping clear visuals or logistics, writing basics about places i've never been to, and so on. i tend to do a lot of research, but sometimes you just need quick references, right? so i thought i'd share some of them!

Behind the Name; good for name meanings but also just random name ideas, regardless of meanings.

Fantasy Name Generator; this link goes to the town name generator, which i use most, but there are lots of silly/fun/good inspo generators on there!

Age Calculator; for remembering how old characters are in Y month in Z year. i use this constantly.

Height Comparison; i love this for the height visuals; does character A come up to character B's shoulder? are they a head taller? what does that look like, height-wise? the chart feature is great!

Child Development Guide; what can a (neurotypical, average) 5-year-old do at that age? this is a super handy quickguide for that, with the obviously huge caveat that children develop at different paces and this is not comprehensive or accurate for every child ever. i like it as a starting point, though!

Weather Spark; good for average temperatures and weather checking!

Green's Dictionary of Slang; good for looking up "would x say this?" or "what does this phrase mean in this context?" i love the timeline because it shows when the phrase was historically in use. this is english only, though; i dig a little harder for resources like this in other languages.
