This is going on my “things to write/draw after my creative block” list, but consider this:

Megatron near the beginning of the war says “fuck it” and kills Starscream, and everyone just kinda thinks ‘Welp, too bad but he had it coming after those assassination attempts’ and move on

A few days later Starscream is standing in the conference room, pissed but not really phased about the dying part. Turns out he’s been dead for a long time, but his ghost keeps repairing and repossessing his corpse. No one’s quite sure when he first died (he keeps lying about it) but considering the whole war thing they got bigger mysteries to solve

This drastically shifts the dynamic, and now Megatron and Starscream have a mutual “I will jump you at a moment’s notice, but it’s okay we’ll be fine” thing going on

The thing with Galvatron was like an official break-up between the two, because this time Megatron left no body for Starscream to try and repair

Ah yes. Me. My boyfriend. And his 4am zoomies.

mavis on discord suggested the idea that Blinky’s series recap at the beginning of rott implies that the whole movie is just Blinky’s wild crackfic and I’m now obsessed with this theory

Some Trollhunters doodles for the hecc of it

Imagine this: Jim is injured after battle, he's found by some hapless bystander and taken to a hospital (lets say not the one Barbara works at or this would all be moot) and Strickler has to lie and say he's Jim's father to get in a run damage control.

Jim’s voice is slurred, and whether it’s the result of meds or pain, Strickler can’t tell. “Man…I’m…I’m winning at the dad category, aren’t I?” 

Strickler takes a cursory glance to make sure the nurse has left the room before raising a brow to the young Trollhunter - and gods, but he is young, Strickler needs to remind himself at times, Jim’s fortitude and wisdom is so often beyond his meager human years. “You and I both know that I had to say something that would let me in–”

“First dad runs off on me and Mom,” continues Jim, and oh dear, his eyes are glazed. “Second dad isn’t even my dad. Second dad just lied ‘cause that’s what he does. Lies and pretends and then, for a grand finale, tries to kill me–”

Strickler’s jaw tenses. This might be the meds or the pain talking, but it doesn’t mean he has to care for what he’s hearing. “I do believe I’ve made up for –”

“You really were close, you know? Like, so close to winning it all. The Father Figure of the year. You were my favorite teacher. Totally loved our office hours together.” Jim’s head lolls against the pillow. “You really had me buying it, you know? You caring about me. Are all Changelings great at that?” 

“I did care.” Strickler’s throat is tight, his heartbeat hard in his chest. Damnation, but he shouldn’t react like this, like he’s under attack, he owes this boy nothing–

–he owes this boy everything–

“You didn’t make Mom cry, though. You’ve got that going for you.” Blue eyes meet his, glazed but still somehow focused upon him, a blade being trained upon a target, searching for damage to be done. “Just made her hate you. When she remembered it all, anyway. Now she just misses you. Why do we do that? Miss what hurts us the most? I used to miss my dad, y’know. But I got better. Maybe she’ll stop missing you.” 

Strickler closes his eyes, a terrible thing to do when faced with an enemy, and damnation, he never wanted this boy to be his enemy. 

Seeing him hold the amulet, that first time, and what did his traitorous heart say?

“No. Not him.” 

Jim sighs, long and thready and oh so tired, settling onto the hospital bed as best he can. “I never told her, y’know. About my troll hunting. I broke my promise. Guess that makes both of us liars. But my thing is, I care too much. You never cared at all.” 

“Lies.” Strickler wishes his voice was sharp, a blade to defend himself with, but instead it’s a strained, whispery thing. “You think it that simple? You think I wouldn’t give anything not to care? I wish I had that power. I wish–”

I wish the amulet had never chosen you, I wish I had never met your mother, I wish I had never tasted her kiss, I wish I had never cared at all–

“I do care.” The admission is soft, barely clearing his teeth. Jim doesn’t even seem to hear it, so near silence it is. Strickler blames the thing in his throat, whatever the hell it is. He clears his throat, tries again. “I do care, Young Atlas.” 

Jim is silent, his eyes closed, lashes low upon his young cheeks. Gods willing, he could be sleeping off that damned, truth-inducing medication…

Jim’s whisper is soft. “Then act like it, Dad.”  

Tale of Tales

Httyd au in which Hiccup gets to be the feral dragon boy he was destined to be.

Basically, what if the underwater scene in the first movie when Stoick frees Toothless from his chains during the fight with Red death didn't happen? (Im talking about that scene before Stoick tells Hiccup that he's proud to call him his son)

I think there was some form of understanding between Toothless and Stoick in that scene. When Stoick pulled Hiccup out the water and broke Toothless free he showed Toothless, for the first time, that he wasn't the enemy here. Not anymore.

What if that had never happened?

What if Toothless managed to break the chains, all by himself, fuelled by his panic when he saw Hiccup drowning? What if Hiccup managed to cook up a last minute plan to free him, using all those sharp bits of metal and debri to do the job quicker, before he lost breath?

In both cases the fight would probably go like how it did in canon, minus the heartfelt moment Hiccup shared with Stoick before the battle.

Hiccup would still get knocked off by the Red Death's tail, and Toothless would undoubtedly go after him, having to bite his leg off in process, etc etc.

But,,,,when Stoick finally finds them after the battle, worried out of his mind, thoughts consumed by the fact that the last thing Hiccup might've heard from him was him declaring that he wasn't his son, he does not encounter a trusting night fury. Toothless does not unfurl his wings to show him his son.

Instead, he glimpses his son under it's wings as it shifts, standing with no little difficulty, with Hiccup's limp form between it's forelegs as it growls and hisses at him.

Toothless absolutely mauls anyone daring to approach them, and it eventually has to be subdued by the entire gang + their dragons. It isn't an easy feat, despite Toothless also being injured and drained by the battle.

In the end, they manage to get Hiccup the medical care he needs, the dragons ferry the vikings back to Berk, and it's all a very slow process, especially with the feral protective Night Fury stubbornly guarding Hiccup. Astrid is the only one able to approach them.

And that trend continues,,,even long after Hiccup has recovered. Toothless makes every effort to drag him away from people, and on the rare occasion he isn't successful, he just spends the whole time threatening the poor sods foolish enough to come too close.

As a result, Hiccup spends much of his time away from people, except for Astrid and the gang and most of his time is spent around dragons, learning about them and just being Hiccup being feral.

He goes of flights further and further away from Berk, trips lasting longer and longer, and Stoick fears one day he might never come back. He talks to the beasts in their own language, with hisses and clicks and chirps, the draconic sounds bleeding into his Norse. The Night Fury follows him like his own shadow, protecting him far better than Stoick ever could.

He rues the day he disowned his son.

For it seemed as if the Night Fury knew what he had done, and took Hiccup as it's own hatchling.
