summary: Keigo and Touya makes their own Easter decorations after Keigo decides the current ones available to buy are simply all too boring
ao3 link <3
Since when were all these easter decorations so goddamn boring?!”
Touya didn’t even look up from his book, no longer phased whenever hurricane Keigo entered their kitchen like this.
“Boring how?” he asked instead, knowing full well Keigo was just getting started.
Keigo sighed dramatically.
“It’s all just so…”
He trailed off, trying to find his words.
“Beige.”
Touya snorted at the disdain in Keigo’s voice and finally put down his book.
“Well, if it’s all so beige and boring, what’s in those bags, huh?” Touya asked, knowing damn well that this was gonna be his whole day now.
Keigo grinned.
“The good thing about this holiday is that a lot of it is marketed for children,” the blond explained as he started taking stuff out of said bags.
“And that is good why?” Touya asked, picking up some of the stuff Keigo unpacked.
Paints, blank eggs, yarn, and several DIY sets of hares, bunnies and chickens.
Keigo threw his hands out dramatically.
That is good because, look!” he exclaimed, gesturing towards the supplies.
“Screw the beige chickens, we make our own decorations babe!”
Touya shook his head once again, but couldn’t keep a fond smile off his face.
“So we’re celebrating Easter now?” Touya asked, and Keigo shrugged with a grin.
“We celebrate whatever allows colorful decorations and good times we missed out on as kids, that’s the rule!”
Touya sighed with a smile and shake of his head, officially giving in.
“Fine, you win, this is kind of a celebration of your kind after all,” Touya said with mock thoughtfulness as he reached over and ruffled one of Keigo’s wings.
“See, now you get it!” Keigo said with a pleased smile, clearly taking no offense to the chicken comparison.
They got to work clearing the table together, Touya insisted on putting down old newspapers over their table for protection to which Keigo saw as a huge attack on his skill, but no less than five minutes after they started he was faced with the realisation that it had been a good decision after all.
They got started on painting the eggs, a comfortable silence falling over them as they worked for a while, until Keigo accidentally dropped the third egg since he started and watched his masterpiece fall to pieces in front of his very eyes.
He sighed dramatically, then gasped as he looked over at Touya’s work.
Little eggs were lined up facing Keigo, each painted with a familiar face and hairdo, their expressions somehow simplistic and spot-on all at once.
Touya grinned as he showed Keigo the egg he was currently working on, with dual colored hair and eyes and an expression of aloofness that was almost uncanny.
“Something about the shape of these eggs are distinctly Shouto-like, aren’t they?” he asked with a grin, and Keigo shook his head with a smirk.
“You do realize how alike you two are, right?” Keigo asked, and Touya grimaced slightly.
“Are you saying I’m egg-like?” he asked, and Keigo laughed.
“That would make us a pretty interesting rendition of the chicken and the egg, right?”
Touya snorted and Keigo grinned as he picked up the Tokoyami egg and studied it.
“You really nailed his constant disappointment in me here,” the blond mused, and Touya nodded to himself.
“It helps that I get to see it so often,” he explained, and Keigo pouted, before he picked up another one.
“Is this Shouto’s little boyfriend?” he asked, knowing full well the answer already.
The angry little blond egg could not be anyone but Bakugo, after all.
“Now Kei, he’s very pissed that you just said that,” Touya deadpanned, gesturing to the egg’s angry expression, and it was Keigo’s turn to snort.
“I’m so sorry Baku-egg,” he said solemnly as he placed it down next to the freshly painted Shouto egg.
After letting his gaze sweep over the now almost finished group of class 1-A eggs Keigo’s pout started showing again.
“How the hell are you so good at this, seriously?” he asked, and Touya raised eyebrows at the question, before looking over at Keigo’s side of the table.
“Dude, how the hell are you so bad at it?” he asked back, and Keigo gasped dramatically.
“Well excuse me, I’m still learning!”
Touya smiled fondly despite his boyfriends pouting.
“Maybe you should give the bunnies a try instead?” he suggested, looking at the far sturdier bunnies in their little hats and dresses, all ready to be painted.
Keigo nodded to himself.
“Sure, these might actually stand a chance against my raw chicken powers,” he said thoughtfully, and Touya rolled his eyes, but kept painting his eggs.
They worked in silence for a bit again, before Keigo proudly lifted up the first bunny to show his boyfriend.
“See!” Touya said encouraginly.
“I knew ages 5 and up might be a little more in your ballpark,” he added, and Keigo snorted.
“Whatever man, at least I didn’t break it!”
Touya chuckled.
“It’s actually really cute, and not beige at all,” he said fondly, and Keigo beamed before a thoughtful expression fell on his face.
“Wait, what does eggs and chickens and bunnies have to do with Easter?” he asked, the thought clearly hitting him for the first time.
Touya hummed as he concentrated on making his Uraraka egg look just sweet enough.
“I think it’s more of a spring thing?” he mused out loud, and Keigo nodded to himself.
“We should google that,” Keigo decided, and Touya nodded absentmindedly.
“But not before we post all of your masterpieces and tag their counterparts on social media,” the blond added, and Touya grimaced.
“Are you sure the fragile relationship between reformed villains and heroes in training can handle all this?” Touya asked, only half joking, and Keigo took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“I think it’s worth the risk, Hot-Stuff,” he grinned before leaning in for a kiss.
This might be his favorite new tradition of theirs this far.
When you thought it would be easy peasy lemon squeezy but it turns out to be difficult difficult lemon difficult.
