* You wake up. Every door and window is closed, the blinds are still shut. You already hear music. No matter how loud you turn up your TV or music, you can still hear it. It will not be ignored.

* Maybe you will go to church, or at least, your body will. You can’t remember where you left your soul.

* You order food. Your hopes are as low as they have always been.

* You see children with packs of cigarettes, puffs of powder coming out. It doesn’t worry you, you did the same when you were their age. They take a bite.

* The music stops. The sound system creaks. The musician makes a sexist joke. “Please, no more,” you cry out. He doesn’t listen. He increases the offensiveness. Everyone around you laughs. You feel someone’s spit on your arm.

* Your grandma secretly gives you money. “Buy yourself something nice,” she tells you. You buy something alcoholic.

* There’s suddenly an assortment of pastries on your table. It’s been the same since forever. Coconut flakes and pink icing. You know this because it even inspires a sense of nostalgia in your grandma. You wonder how old the pastries on your table are. You take a bite anyway.

* The music gets increasingly louder. You hardly know the song. Everyone is singing along. The words even spill over your own lips. It happens automatically.

* You’re still waiting for your food.

Came across another debate about the "inhibitor chips vs. no chips" storyline for the clones. Saw the usual complaint that the inhibitor chips are a cop out to absolve the clones of any responsibility for their actions.

Thing is...

For a long time, practically none of the clones knew their actions during Order 66 were influenced by programming via implanted brain chips. Omega was the first clone who for sure knew the chips were even a thing; Tech figured it out and Rex finally understood and fully accepted Fives' claims during Order 66; the rest of Clone Force 99 eventually accepts the truth; and I'm sure Rex got through to the clones who became part of his network.

But that's a tiny fraction of the clones who make up the GAR. (We find out over a decade later in Rebels that apparently the story of the inhibitor chips had circulated, but we don't know to what extent the story spread or if it was ever validated to the general public as more than a rumor.)

So, during Order 66 and for years thereafter, the clones thought they were acting of their own accord.

We never see the clones using the chips as an excuse for their behavior, likely because most of the clones don't even know about them.

And frankly, I find it even more tragic that these loyal, honorable men thought they had freely chosen to turn on the Jedi and others who had been their allies, genuinely thought they were stopping a Jedi coup, when they really didn't have much of a choice at all, not even the option to stop and think about what they were doing before they did it.

And even those clones who DO know what's going on are too horrified by their behavior to even entertain the notion of excusing themselves.

Came Across Another Debate About The "inhibitor Chips Vs. No Chips" Storyline For The Clones. Saw The

Just look at Rex's face when he's about to shoot Ahsoka. He's conflicted, he's terrified. Rex later talks about the chip and tells the Bad Batch it's not something they can control if it activates; but even then he's sharing that to convince them to choose to remove the chips, not to give them an excuse for their behavior.

Came Across Another Debate About The "inhibitor Chips Vs. No Chips" Storyline For The Clones. Saw The

And can any of us mistake Wrecker's shame over his actions while the inhibitor chip was activated as him justifying himself? He describes what it felt like, and we know as well as he does that he literally had no control over himself, yet he still apologizes for what he did.

AND THEN we have Crosshair, Mr. "Does it really matter when I got my chip removed?" -

Came Across Another Debate About The "inhibitor Chips Vs. No Chips" Storyline For The Clones. Saw The

Crosshair knows about the chip, knows what it was supposed to do, had it removed, and still insists that he was in full control of himself and his decisions all along. Even later, when he admits to making mistakes and having regrets, he never blames the inhibitor chip for his actions.

Basically - I have no issue whatsoever with the inhibitor chip plotline. I actually prefer it. Not even taking into account the fact that it makes a ton of sense that Palpatine wouldn't leave anything regarding something as pivotal to his plans as Order 66 up to chance, the inhibitor chips add another layer of tragedy and complexity to the clones in that while we the audience know they have more of their autonomy stripped away from them, as far as the clones are aware the chips don't even exist and they are in full control of their own actions; and the clones who DO know about the chips tend to acknowledge their effects while still not using them to justify their behavior or refuse any responsibility.

Goa'uld Clones AU

the Kaminoans, upon receiving an order for a massive army, quickly realized that their ability to produce bodies far exceeded their limited ability to train soldiers, even with the hired bounty hunters brought in for the job

so they decided to take a different tactic for fulfilling this order

they would create a more limited number of high-quality, highly-trained symbiotic brain worms, and then mass-produce interchangeable empty human bodies, grown at more than 10x normal speed to adulthood, for those worms to inhabit and control

this way, if a host body got hurt, it would be simple to switch the symbiote into a new one so their investment in that highly trained soldier wouldn't be lost

the host body could even be killed, and the symbiote conveniently retrieved if it exited in time and concealed within the fallen body's helmet for ease of return to their flagship or Kamino for a new empty host, and it only takes a week of training to adjust to the new body, rather than the months for treatment and physical therapy, or Force forbid the years to grow and train a whole new soldier from scratch!

this is of course not what the Jedi ordered, so they cannot be aware of this change in plans; the main contact, however, is informed, as it impacts their contingency plans with the control chips

but since the Jedi cannot find out about this, troopers who don't interact too closely with Jedi are not permitted to personalize their host body's appearance or armor to allow for easy replacement

the commanders and other troopers who do get to personalize themselves because of their close relationship with a Jedi treat that as a badge of honor and work harder than normal to keep their host body alive and intact, because if they have to switch bodies they also have to be transferred to a new battalion as a new shiny, as far from the Jedi who might notice the change as possible

Order 66, however, comes with an especially nasty twist: the clone commander is ordered to fake some sort of health issue requiring resuscitation from their Jedi, and uses that proximity to jump through the mouth to assume control of their traitorous commanding officer's body

which places the new Emperor in charge of the army and the bodies of the Jedi, including use of their powers and knowledge to support his regime change

Eyyyy Time For The Rest Of Finwë’s Grandkids! These Definitely Turned Out More Aqua-y Than I Expected.

Eyyyy time for the rest of Finwë’s grandkids! These definitely turned out more aqua-y than I expected. I actually hoped to come up with different colour schemes for them (like with the Fëanorians, not relying too much on their old portrait designs), but I ended up doing quite a bit of colour-picking for these ^^;;;

But, y’know, I’ve made up a reason for it! XDD I imagine that Fingolfin and Finarfin’s families are quite close-knit, so their colour palettes work well with each other to reflect that while still being different for each member. Their branch-ears also have flowers/leaves based on their tree-bodies. Speaking of that …

I’ve decided that the mask wood will be different to their actual tree-based bodies. Because, y’know, it would probably feel weird to carve a mask out of your own wood type loll Plus it makes more sense for them to be based on the same tree since they’re related ^^;;

On that note, the Fëanorians will now have Ash tree bodies (I had to change Maglor’s mask wood to spruce due to that)! Don’t worry, y’all don’t have to remember any of this loll it’s just for me to keep track of the nit-picky stuff. More design details below!

So here's a Star Wars Crack Treated Seriously idea for you.

Obi-Wan Kenobi finds himself back in the past somewhere during the Clone Wars.

And obviously he needs to make sure that Anakin doesn't Fall and go on his Grand Slaughter Adventure.

But Anakin is the most bantha-headed, stubborn, CONTRARY disaster in the galaxy. Obi-Wan just KNOWS that if he tries going at it straight on Anakin might Fall just out of sheer spite.

No. No. This requires some finesse.

Long story short, he gets his hands on some yellow contact lenses and begins playing the most intricate game of reverse psychology guerilla warfare in the history of the Republic.

(and would you look at that, "Sith" are allowed to make assassination attempts on Supreme Chancellors. How... convenient)

Rewinding the Skein

@itsgoldleaf

The encounter will be lousy and frantic and will come when Ben turns down the alleyway. His face will meet a rough-cast wall and the sunburn will be scraped raw from his cheek. A blaster - no, his mind had touched the outline of something wittier clasped in a damp hand - a *knife* will be pressed into one of his soft places and he will be given the luxury of one breath with which to punch out the futility of this endeavour, that his credits are too few and his life too pathetic to expend the effort of doing him the mischief. Move along, move along.

The shape of the hand that holds the knife is tugging another fibre loose in the hindlands of Ben’s consciousness as he draws back from the stall. He’s seen the creases of that palm before. Another thing he doesn’t remember.

He walks towards the alley. The first sun drops lower.

The footsteps behind him are as loud as the blood in his ears.

A Remedy Painted Blue

@ihathbenobiwankenobied

Ten years.

“Cody?”

The man nodded once, then swallowed.

Then nodded again.

It had to be impossible–had to be a lie. Obi-Wan could still remember his first nights on Tatooine, unable to sleep as he considered all he had lost. He imagined Cody had gone on to serve the Imperials, only to die in the line of duty.

Obi-Wan had mourned him.

After ten years, Obi-Wan had settled himself with the idea of death–the idea that the people he cared about most were long gone.

He had grieved for so long.

“I didn’t think I would find you.”

Behind the Scenes

@catfur-and-greenscales

“Spare any credits?” Obi-Wan stopped on the spot, feeling a cold sensation creeping down his spine.

He knew that voice as he had heard it hundreds of thousands of times.

With wide eyes Obi-Wan turned around and saw a man, not anyone he could say he knew, but those features were more than familiar to him. Perhaps the Force could have provided him more information, but he dared not to use it to reach for the man. It had been ages since the last time, so starting now was not an option.

For a moment they both were just staring at one another, until the rough looking man lifted his bandaged arm, with a helmet. Obi-Wan could not help himself but … There was no facial scar. And there shouldn't have been, since even after everything, the man in front of him was still wearing the colors of the 501st. This man was not Cody. Of course not.

He should have known better to not hope.

But the seconds their eyes were locked felt too long to Obi-Wan. The tension was broken only when the clone just lifted his bucket a little higher and said:“Help a veteran to get a warm meal.”

Obi-Wan wanted to say something, but what could he have said?

So he said nothing. Saying something would have caused him to get engaged to this unknown man. Cursed compassion would have led Obi-Wan to ask questions he had no time to ask while being on an urgent mission.

The few credits he had … this man would have deserved way more than Obi-Wan could have given to him, so withou speaking he searched his pockets and put whatever he could find into the bucket pointed in his direction.

He could not be sure if the man had recognized him or not, but there had for sure been a moment when they both had measured one another.

The Jedi just turned away, his heart beating a bit faster than before. What else was he going to find from this wretched planet?

I think the Jedi council should have at least considered sending obi-wan over to Dooku to be like “yes hello I am here for sith training” just to see what would happen

Why Am I Even Doing This???

Why am I even doing this???

3 months ago

I just had a random thought: As long as a force-sensitive person's body is still present in the galaxy, their "presence" will remain with it until it is fully decomposed. This is why jedi burn their dead, so that their friends can live on in the force instead of decaying alongside their physical bodies. The Empire preserved Luminara's corpse because they knew that other jedi would sense her presence clinging to her body, therefore come to rescue her because they would think she was still alive.

That makes... a horrible amount of sense ghghghkgdhs.

i’m still learning anatomy myself so i wouldn’t use this as more than just a general tip but…. I am fascinated by speculative monster anatomy and this is something i discovered years ago and thought i would impart amongst my fellow monster enthusiasts :)

mind you, the second set of pectorals can look kind of funky so i understand aesthetically why people would prefer not to draw them but! if you are someone interested in anatomy, i think this is a thing people dont really think about when giving their OCs wings/extra limbs and i think it’s kind of neat!
