It feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning. I loved the escapism I found in these imaginary/not imaginary tales. I loved the ways you welcomed the dreamscapes and tragedies and epic tales of love lost and found into your lives.

Aelin watched as her father paced circles in the living room rug, his finger accentuating each point toward her face. Each day leading up to the new year Rhoe had become exceedingly more and more tense. She didn’t know why he was so stressed – she’d been celebrating New Year’s Eve at Lysandra’s house since middle school.

Okay, that wasn’t exactly the truth. Aelin knew his grumpy demeanor might have something to do with the “drives” she and Rowan had started going on every day, and her return to their house, cheeks flushed and smile wide. Or the way Aelin couldn’t stop listening to her playlist, hips swaying as she belted out the lyrics to the heart wrenching love songs. Or the way every time Aelin’s phone buzzed with a text from Rowan, she couldn’t help the soft pink hue that would appear on her cheeks. She was just… really happy. And she knew it hadn’t escaped her dad’s notice. But still, he hadn’t pressed her on it.

If he wanted to live in denial, then Aelin felt perfectly fine with that. It gave her a perfect excuse not to let Rhoe know about her and Rowan’s sleeping arrangement for this evening.

I have this headcanon that the House of Wind starts being extra nice to Cassian after officially mating with Nesta. Like making sure his weapons are polished. His leathers are clean. That when he comes back weary from a long day from the Illyrian war camps, there’s a plate of his favorite food and a hot bath waiting whether Nesta is there or not. Like a salute to “my girl loves you, so I’ll take care of you too.”

Alternatively, when Cassian and Nesta get into a fight, the house almost always sides with Nesta. You will hear multiple doors slamming from all the way at the other ends of hallways... Well, until it thinks they’ve taken it too far than you best believe that house is going to withhold all amenities until they make up and or lock them in a room together.
