Ok what's worse: the strawhats waiting a lifetime for luffy to return to them, or luffy becoming immortal and outliving everyone he cares about?
The first scenario reminds me of that Bojack Horseman quote, "Was it worth it to be happy for a little bit even though it ended up sad? Or would it have been better if the whole thing never happened?" I think this isn't as bad as the immortality scenario because the Straw Hats have each other to lean on, and if they reach the end of their life without Luffy returning, maybe they'll be happy—thinking that Luffy's waiting on the other side for them.
I think immortality is one of the cruelest punishments you could put on someone, especially Luffy, considering his unique relationship with death. It's one of the OP endings I hope Oda doesn't use (through Law's Devil Fruit power).
Grief is something you don't get over. It'll always be there, but you grow to live with it. Knowing Luffy, he'd find new people to love and journey with, but they'd leave him all the same, and loneliness is Luffy's greatest weakness. I don't want to imagine this kind of torture on him.
How long did the strawhats stay together after Luffy's disappearance? And what was the reason they actually separated?
It took them 3 years before they split up. One of the reasons was to "split" up to look for him—covering more ground in a sense. That's what they said, but they all knew that was only half-true, because the holistic reason was because it was too painful.
Talking to each other, looking at each other, staying on the Sunny and imagining their Captain going about his way as usual—bothering Sanji in the kitchen, stealing from everyone's plates, sitting on the figurehead as if the world was his (it was).
Everything in the world reminded them of him, especially each other. They carried remnants of him in their behavior and their habits and their hearts, and when does that become a curse
What're ur fav op fics?
I am suffering because I always forget to bookmark what I read—it's actually joever, and I'll definitely miss some because of my goldfish memory, but these are the ones I found.

Song: half return by Adrianne Lenker
still thinking about your fic and how the strawhats were like 'we waited two years for him, we can wait again' and those few hours turned into weeks, then months, then years AND YOU'VE MADE THEM WAIT 20 OUGHHH YOURE SICK (but i love u for it)
I think that at first glance, 20 years is a long time, yeah, but if you really think about it -
20 years is an entire lifetime. In 20 years, parents see their kids, babbling and waddling, grow into adults who pay their own taxes. 20 years ago, the One Piece manga was at Skypiea. 20 years ago, it was 2003 - I wasn't even born then, so just imagining spending that long looking for someone you don't even know is alive - what does that do to a person wink wink
THIS IS SO SICKED AND TWISTED
love u anon 🙈
