What is it?
Tasseography is divination by tea or coffee. Unlike tarot, which can also be used for meditation, this ancient method, also called tasseomancy, is best reserved for fortunetelling.
How does it work?
After a teacup or a coffee mug has been emptied, the remaining tea leaves or coffee grounds form images. Much like in scrying, these patterns are interpreted.
What do I need?
If you opt for tea, use loose tea. Teabags will not work, as it is the leaves that will form patterns.
If you choose coffee instead, acquire Turkish coffee. It leaves a thick sediment which can be richly interpreted. A saucer is mandatory.
How is it performed?
The drink has no occult powers. Neither does the cup that holds it. They are merely messengers. For the message itself, invoke your higher power.
Take a deep breath. Drink the liquid while thinking about your query. Do it in one go, but slowly, so that the question can be asked intently.
Place the cup to your chest, close to where your heart is. Take another deep breath. This is you allowing the image to truly match your intent.
Seek and you shall find.
If you drank tea, search the leaves at the bottom of the cup.
If you drank coffee, first turn the cup upside down onto the saucer. Take another deep breath, then put it back up once you are finished. Search both the cup and the saucer for images.
If you have the gift of sight or simply a strong intuition, you should know what the images mean. Like in dreams, the symbols you find will be highly subjective.
To illustrate, if you asked, “Will my wife and I stay together?” and you saw the shape of a heart broken in the middle, then “No” is your answer.
Additionally, as this method of divination is usually passed down from mother to daughter, each reader knows a certain list of symbols by heart. Something unique to her or him.
To perform tasseography without access to such knowledge, know that the Lenormand system evolved from it. Its cards contain images that are often formed by tea leaves and coffee grounds. So if you read Lenormand, interpret the images you see using the cards’ meanings. If you are unfamiliar with it, here are sample interpretations:

Here's a real tip for all you baby witches out there, diving into spellwork before anything else: Spells aren't as simple as going through the motions, and a spell probably won't work if you don't understand how to use your Will.
This is what I've been taught by my mentor who has been a witch for 25 years. You have to set your intentions and use your Will to match. What is your Will and how is it different from your Intention? This post may get long, but it's important and I haven't seen any others cover this, so please don't give up half way through!
Basically, it's like this:
Intention: your reason for a spell, your goal/what you want + ingredients to match
Your Will: the Power you put behind your spell or working
The intention part is easy. You figure out your goal, pick a spell or create a spell that uses ingredients or actions that match your intent, and then you perform it. This is what most of Tumblr will teach you how to do. While working with simply your intent can sometimes work, it's more like a coin toss because you're not actually making your spellwork as powerful as it could be.
But your Will, as I've been taught, is the most important part of any magick and is the most often overlooked. You can make magick with nothing but your intent and your Will together. Did you know that? What is your Will? It's the power you put behind your intent. Your Will is your Power.
That's right, baby witches. You have to learn how to tap in to the power around you as well as the power within yourself. This is why spells are never as simple as you think; if you can't add your Will to a spell, it will never be as powerful as you want it to be. This concept can prove difficult, so I'll try to break it down as simply as I can.
Your Will comes from the energy within you, but you can also tap into the energy around you to add to that power. This means that to find your Will you have to first learn how to:
Perceive Energy
Feel Energy
Feel your Own Energy
Touch Energy
Gather Energy Inside and Around You
Manipulate Energy
Infuse Energy with Intent
This is the basis for finding and understanding magick. Magick is all about energy, and the sooner you learn how to do these things, the sooner you'll start to realize your power as a witch. And this is why I say that spells are not as simple as Tumblr makes them; at least, they shouldn't be.
When you're performing a spell, you should be raising energy and infusing that energy with your intent. You could be adding energy to your ingredients, or simply raising it and holding it, to be released into the world when the spell is finished. That's your Will; the energy you add to your working. The stronger the energy, the stronger the spell.
A simple way to put it: Intent + Will = Power
So please do yourself a favor. Research energy. Find it, figure it out, feel it within you. Take your time to truly understand that power so you can properly perform powerful spellwork.
Learning all of this can take time and that is fine. If you take your time to work on this, you will be grateful for it in the long run. Feeling the energy that surrounds you and that comes from within you is such a beautiful thing, I promise. Energy is wonderful.
Dear Budding Psychics, Mediums, Divinators, and Everyone Else Going Around Telling Non-Witches That They're Secretly Witches During Readings,
Being a witch is not a secret superpower that has to be unearthed. It is not an inherited genetic marker that magically manifests at a certain point in a person's life.
Being a witch is a choice that a person must make for themselves. They cannot be INFORMED that they are a witch if they have not previously made this choice of their own volition. You don't get to TELL people that they're witches. That is their decision to make.
It's not something you can read in a palm. It's not something you can see in cards or tea leaves or a psychic vision. It's not something you can TEST for arbitrarily.
You don't get to tell someone they're a car mechanic if they aren't. You don't get to tell someone they're in a coven if they haven't taken vows. You don't get to decide for someone whether or not they're a witch.
(Apparently, this is a new "thing" among novices, particularly those of school age, this idea of doing a reading for someone and "determining" that the client is a witch, without the person having ever made that choice for themselves. Sure, it might spark interest and bring them to the community looking for more information, but the idea of being able to designate or "tell" other people that they're witches, independent of their own choices, needs to be squashed.)
Even if you have reason to believe that someone is secretly a witch, it is Very Poor Form to inquire directly, if they haven't chosen to share. Plenty of practitioners have Very Good Reasons for keeping their practice under wraps. If you want to make a private inquiry, that's fine. Just be prepared that you might receive a denial, no matter how sure you are. If the answer is no, that's it. Don't invade people's privacy, especially if you live in an area where being publicly labeled as a witch might be unsafe.
I know we like to say that witchcraft doesn't have universal rules, but there ARE overarching codes of conduct. And one of them is that you do NOT out someone as a witch without their permission. Ever. Because you do not know what the repercussions might be for that person and you may be placing them in danger without knowing it.
If someone decides to be a witch or to live openly as such, that is their decision to make and theirs alone. And if they choose not to be, this must likewise be respected. You don't get to make that decision for them, just as you wouldn't want anyone else making that decision for you.
Sincerely,

Salt is very purifying, cleansing, and healing, combine it with some various healing plants and you’ve got amazing healing salts for baths, cooking, aromatherapy, and spells. It’s also a great way to preserve your herbs!
🌿 Here’s what you need:
-Salt (regular sea salt is fine but Himalayan or Celtic salt correspond more with healing in my opinion)
-fresh healing herbs/plants of your choice (can be dried but I’ve had better results with fresh)
-mortor and pestle
-somewhere to store it
🌿Here’s some recommended healing herbs/plants:
Basil- protection, prosperity, happiness // anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, appetite stimulator
thyme- healing, sleep, soothing // soothes respitory system, antiseptic, decongestant
peppermint- energy, health, vitality // nausea &vomiting, IBS, bloating
garlic- protection, banishment, healing // anti-bacterial, anti-viral, reduces infection
lemon peel- cleansing, purifying, joy // antioxidants, immune boost, kills germs
sage- protection, cleansing, wisdom // cough, antibacterial, soothes inflammation
oregano- luck, health, family // anti-virus, allergy relief, anti-inflammatory
orange peel- optimism, happiness, strength // immune boost, vitamins, antioxidants
lemon balm- healing, psychic abilities, uplifting // anti-anxiety, sleep, indigestion
parsley- calming, protection, passion // energy, circulation, digestion
rosemary- cleansing, divination, love// soothes sore muscles, soothes cough, improves memory
cinnamon- comfort, love, protection // anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, kills germs
🌿How to make it:
-Add a small handful of salt and the herb or herbs of your choice in your mortor and pestle (how much you use depends on the size of your mortor and pestle and how strong you want the salts to be)
-Grind them up until they’re mixed well and infused, the salt will most likely change color.(it’s easier to tell with fresh plants, with dried plants it’ll be more of a powder when it’s done). I like to use this time to focus on the intent!
-Pour it into an airtight container and you’re done, enjoy in a bath, in food, in spells, scrubs etc.
** please do research before consuming any herbs or plants you aren’t familiar with, especially if you’re pregnant or on medication.
Simple Bonding With Your New Deck
A straightforward guide for understanding and bonding with a new deck
⋆ 。˚۰ ˚☽˚ ⁀➷ 。˚ ⋆ ༄ ☼ ➶
❶ Cleanse your deck
This can be done with numerous methods. Saining ritual, Crystals (like selenite or salt), Sound, Knocking, Moonlight, Sunlight, etc Choose the one that you like best, whichever feels right to you, or use a combination of these that feel good for you!
❷ Explore your deck
Before reading the booklet that comes with your cards, flip through the deck card by card and explore the imagery and symbolism of each card. If you can, journal down your initial thoughts for each card, including how each card makes you feel. Is there a specific card that you're drawn to? Why?
❸ Read the guide book
Repeat Step 2 while reading through and referencing the little white book. How do the author/artist's intentions line up with your original intuitions about each card? Do they conflict? If so, look deeper and try to figure out where your view of the card differs. (this does not necessarily mean your intuition is wrong)
❹ Spend time with your deck
This can include sleeping with your deck next to you/under your pillow, travelling with your deck on your person, carrying around and focusing on a specific card each day, spending time shuffling the cards to mix your energy, or any other ideas you can come up with that allows you to keep the deck, the cards, and the imagery/symbolisms on your mind throughout the day.
❺ Interview your deck
This can be done at any point, but often it’s the most rewarding after you understand the cards to a decent degree. At this point, you should have a good feel for the deck's overall energy and a general idea of what each card represents and why. You'll be able to understand what the deck is trying to tell you much better than if you did this step at the beginning.
❻ Start using your deck
When you feel like you understand the cards and feel comfortable using them for readings, go for it. From this point on, it's going to be growth via experience. Continue to grow your intuition and personal associations with the deck, as well as remembering how the guidebook describes their meanings as that will be different from deck to deck, even if they’re all still tarot cards. Journaling, taking notes, or even just photos of your readings will be super helpful to build an understanding of the decks personality and to see where you might have previously misunderstood something.
