Good morning you beautiful witch! Witchcraft and spells don’t have to be exclusive to night time, you can do it when you wake up too! There’s a few different ways to incorporate witchcraft into your morning routine from your morning shower to your first cup of coffee, or tea. Some of these are quick and easy, so you still have time to beat morning traffic, while some need a little bit more time.
Meditate While Showering
If you’re anything like me, you don’t always want to wake up even earlier to meditate. Doesn’t make you a bad witch at all, but there is a way to incorporate into your daily shower time. Unless of course you missed your alarm and are opting for the dry shampoo (we’ve all been there it’s okay).
Time: However long it normally takes you to shower.
What To Do: As you’re going about your normal shower routine, take time to meditate your negative energy going away. As you wash your hair imagine all your negative thoughts washing away as well. When washing your body imagine all the negative energy washing away as well. Relax each body part as you scrub over them. As the water rinses you off, along with all the soap, imagine all that negative going down the drain as well. Imagine the water is positive energy flowing into you. As you exit the shower and dry off, imagine the towel locking in all that positive. Just like that, you’re meditation for the day is done, you may notice you’ll feel a bit more relaxed, clean and awake!
Stir Your Intentions into Your Coffee/Tea
That cup of joe can be crucial in the morning, but you can also add some magical qualities to your coffee, or tea. Also, may help improve that boring old coffee you’ve been drinking (no offense).
Time: 2-3 minutes + however long it takes to brew your coffee/tea
What To Do: For coffee, you can brew your coffee as normal or if you’d like you can add a few spices to your grounds, depending on your intention for the day. For me, I tend to add a few pinches of cinnamon to my grounds for abundance (and maybe because it reminds me of fall). You can add what you want for the day or whatever you think tastes good. For tea, choose a tea that represents your intentions for the day. For example, if I woke up not really feeling myself, I may opt for a hibiscus brew to bring in a little love to my day. Once you’ve settled on flavor and have brewed up a cup, add in what you normally would. Be it, milk and sugar, or maybe honey, whatever you like. As you stir it in, depending on what you want, pick a direction. Focus deeply on your intentions, stir clockwise to bring something in, counter clockwise to keep something away. After your done, take a sip to lock in your intentions. Then enjoy!
Say Thank You to the Sun
Taking some time to go outside in the morning not only helps you feel more awake, but it also allows you to connect with nature and the elements. In Witchcraft, we tend to work a lot with the moon and can forget how much the sun does for us too. Make sure to thank the Sun!
Time: 10-15 minutes, or however long you need
What To Do: This can either be done at sunrise, or early morning. Go outside, you may choose to bring you tea/coffee with you. Find a spot you can sit for awhile, preferably facing the sun (please do not look at the sun). Take a few moments to let the sun touch your skin, allowing yourself to be consumed in it’s warmth. If you are sensitive to the sun I highly recommend sunscreen. Take a few moments to think about all the things the sun brings to the earth and to you. When you’re ready, in you’re own words, thank the sun for giving life, light and warmth. You can speak these words aloud or think them. Unsure what to say? Say this: “Thank you Sun for the light, life and warmth you bring to this Earth. Thank you for greeting me each morning, and for giving me the power I need to take on the day.” When you’re finished you may head back inside.
Eat Breakfast
Okay, I get what you’re thinking, but yes, even eating breakfast can be magical. If you’re a kitchen witch, you probably already knew this but, it’s all about the ingredients you use. Adding certain ingredients to match your intentions for the day can be a really easy way to add witchcraft to your morning. Get familiar with what ingredients have magical properties and incorporate those to your morning meal. Oatmeal is a really easy way to do this, you can add cinnamon or fruits that represent your intentions.
Morning Tarot Card Reading
This one is also a super easy way to incorporate magic into your day. I like to do a one card pull to see what the day has planned for me.
Time: 5-10 minutes
What To Do: Grab your tarot deck, find a quiet place and focus on your cards. Pull just one card while thinking about the day ahead of you. As you read and interpret the card you pulled, make a note of it. Later in the day, look back on this interpretation and compare to see how accurate you were. This is also good general practice if you are new to tarot!
Morning Walk
Morning walks, especially in nature, give you a chance to connect with Mother Nature. As a witch, we work with nature quite a bit. It’s good to spend time in nature to give thanks and appreciate all it does.
Time: 20-30 minutes
What To Do: This can be in your neighborhood or on your favorite nature trail. In the early morning, take time to walk through nature. Really focus on what’s around you. The shapes of leaves, animals you see, things you may see on the ground. If safe and possible, walk barefoot and really connect with the earth below your feet. Thank nature for all it does and allowing you to work with it. If you find anything you wish to take home, ask nature and if allowed take good care of it!
There are so many things you can do in the morning to incorporate your magic. Don’t be afraid to come up with your own ways and routines! Blessed be!

“You’re so quiet, what’s wrong?” I’m creating my own fantasy world to escape from reality so shut up.
If you cannot find representations for a given element, remember…
You are supported by a rigid skeleton made of minerals. You are earth.
Your body is over 70% fluid. You are water.
Your lungs take in and expel breath. You are air.
Your blood is warm and your brain runs on electrical impulses. You are fire.
Your essence, however you describe it, resides within you. You are spirit.
You are composed of gifts from every element, and every element is given marvelous life in you.
Never feel that you are insufficiently magical for lack of icons or accoutrements or accessories.
You are ALWAYS magic. You are ALWAYS enough.
