why are tom from eddsworld's eyes black? or would you prefer it to be a secret? because I think EVERYONE is dying to know.

Ah screw it. I have no involvement Eddsworld anymore so whatever I say isn’t officially canon but I always had a personal explanation and I might as well share it. If “The Eddsworld Team” continue the show, they could easily refute this but… Here’s what I got!

Originally, Tom’s eyes were a black line because I “designed” the character by ripping off Gary Larson’s art style. Edd would animate that straight line into hollow circles whenever Tom was shocked and I eventually suggested that he just keep the eyes that way but fill them black. We never fully agreed on the reasoning however. Hell, in Edd’s mind I think they were just hollow eye sockets (there’s a few jokes about that in 25ft Under the Seat). But I always imagined that his eyes were black because he shared his body with a demon. Edgy, I know, but I was like 15 so you can shush. In my mind, the demon (specifically a “rage demon”) could take full or partial control of Tom whenever he got too angry or stressed (kinda like The Hulk (in fact, exactly like The Hulk (I WAS 15, OKAY?))) but it could also be summoned with the right spell. While never explicitly stated, a lot of you have pieced that together on your own so… Good job!

But yeah, I’m not a part of Eddsworld anymore and I can only speak for my intentions before/during Legacy. So, while this “reveal” can’t be classified as official lore or even canonical, I hope you got a kick out of it nonetheless :)
