"Acer is my Lusus, my guardian... Parent. He raised me here on Lone Moon."
Another long growl.
"Acer is from Alternia, an Empire that Harmonus warily considers a trade partner." Stelle looked to where the growling came from. "However to most dreamers, Acer appears frightening."
The Lone Moon was lustrous in its ocean of sky. Stelle stood at a long pool of still water, gazing into the deep blue. Gilded fish swam about, some bobbing up at the surface.
The Pierrot Troll picked up an ivory dish, laden with pellets. She tossed pellets to the water, watching as the lazy fish sprang to life.

Evening jacket, 1937, by Elsa Schiaparelli
A fine and important Elsa Schiaparelli couture Zodiac jacket, the Astrology Collection, Winter, 1938-39, Paris. This is arguably one of the most beautiful of all Schiaparelli's creations with its glittering embroidery, shimmering star-shaped beads and rhinestones set against a midnight blue velvet background. Marlene Dietrich was photographed in her Beverly Hills residence in 1938 wearing the zodiac ensemble with matching dress. Schiap was fascinated by the night sky that she used to view as a child through her uncle's telescope - the renowned astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli, director of the Brera Observatory in Milan. He inspired in her a lifelong fascination with the celestial realm. He commented that the moles on her cheeks reminded him of the Big Dipper which she adopted as her 'lucky star', incorporating it into printed fabrics, the fabric lining her salon, her own personal jewellery as well as on this magnificent jacket. Schiaparelli's press agent Hortense MacDonald stated that the Astrology collection was defined by Euclid's famous geometric treatise - 'Elements'.
"So by pedigree, not by Hemospectrum..." Stelle explained further, "All Trolls, across the multiverse, have different colored blood."
She went and pulled out a small fold out diagram. (links to a Hemospectrum explanation).
"The colors not only determine rank, but inherent abilities... However, I am not on there. My kind have been extinct for thousands of Sweeps before Her Imperious Condescension's rule. She has lived beyond any known Troll of her world, an Empress. She has been putting pressure on Harmonus to open trade and... I don't know if this will be dangerous..."
Taking a deep breath, Stelle asked, "I hope you may have insight, Your Excellency?"

“Purple Signs are the workaholics of the sign classes. Ambitious and driven, they have a very specific path in mind to reach the pinnacle of their field, and will work tirelessly toward it. However, if their practical brains convince them that their goal is unrealistic, they may be slow to trust anyone with the secret of their true desires. They are often very funny, their wit veering toward the dryly macabre. Their fatalism can be incredibly humorous or terrible, depending who you ask. Purple Signs are usually the people who will say out loud what everyone else was thinking but was too nervous to mention. They are very stubborn, and once they've made up their mind about something, whether it be a restaurant choice or a political affiliation, it is difficult to change. They have trouble admitting they were mistaken, and also that they are upset. An oft-repeated phrase of the Purple Signs is, "It's fine, don't worry about it." They will let arguments fester rather than face them head on. In love they tend to be strictly monogamous and fiercely devoted, ready to pledge themselves to a person the same way they do their goals-utterly, and without reservation.” — The Extended Zodiac

A new viewpoint on antlers reveals the evolutionary history of deer (Cervidae, Mammalia)
fullview recommended!
something i've wanted to do for a while now. i've scoured the internet for something like this and can't find anything that compares all the different types of antlers together. except one recent study on their evolution, which is also very interesting on its own! i simplified it to provide a visual reference, while still trying to be scientifically accurate. some things differ between this and trophy scoring terminology like where the beam is and whatnot, so if something looks weird that's why.
small additional note, this study and others provide a lot of evidence that eld's deer should be in their own genus as it doesn't appear similar enough to barasingha and schomburgk's deer. however this doesn't seem to be adapted anywhere yet, so they're still in Rucervus for this guide.

Stelle listened, and then gestured the Duke to follow. "All right... Lone Moon's palace will change in its paths, depending on the paths you take. I can help you interpret what is seen, Your Excellency"
