The Tiara features Festoon & Fleur-De-Lis designs with Diamonds set in Silver and Gold. The Original Design was topped with 14 pearls.ย Inside the custom mahogany box provided by the jeweler, a second frame was also supplied, which allowed the tiara to be worn as a coronet. Even better, it could also be taken off a frame entirely and worn as a necklace. In 1912, Mary had the Tiara re-designed. She hadย the pearls removed from the top of the tiara, replacing them with 13 diamond brilliants. The pearls were incorporated into her new Lover's Knot Tiara. The base of the tiara was also removed around this time so that it could be worn separately as a bandeau. In 1960, the Bandeau of the Tiara was placed back onto the tiara, which gave it more height.ย

The oldest parts of this tiara are from the 1800โฒs. The Current Duke & Duchess created another Cambridge Sapphire Tiara called the Sapphire Button Tiara.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The oldest parts of this tiara are from the 1800โฒs. The set included a Tiara, a Necklace, & a Stomacher (this could be separated into 3 different brooches). Her Majesty Queen Mary added to the rest of the set, which increased the flexibility of the set. The tiara consisted of a tiara of graduated sapphires & diamond clusters that sit on top of sapphires & diamond scrolls. The number of sapphire elements have changed over time though. This tiara can beย worn with a pair of earrings, a long necklace or a shorter choker necklace, a stomacher, smaller brooches, & bracelets. Some other pieces to be worn with the tiara include detachable pendants.ย
The new Sapphire Button Tiara was created from the original necklace using the five large sapphire & diamond clusters from the long necklace & were arranged on a button style frame. The tiara can be worn with a shorter necklace, earrings, & a brooch.ย
The Death of His Majesty King George VI
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In 1939, The United Kingdom entered into the World War 2. The stress of the war & almost being killed at Buckingham Palace with his wife by 2 German Bombs, took a toll on King Georgeโs health. The King began to develop many health issues, some problems like Lung Cancer coming from his heavy smoking addiction. Due to King George's declining health he had to: Postpone a tour of Australia & New Zealand in March 1949, have his daughter Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II & His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh do a month long tour of Canada after the tour had been delayed for a week in October 1951, in November 1951 the King's State Opening of Parliament had to be read by Lord Chancellor The Right Honorable Gavin Turnbull Simonds, 1st Viscount Simonds from his throne, & his 1951 Christmas Broadcast had to be recorded in sections & edited.
Lung Cancer: Lung Cancer claims more lives each year than any other cancer like prostate or breast. People who smoke have the greatest risk of lung cancer because the chance can increase over the length of time of smoking, what youโre smoking, & how much you have smoked over that period of time. Smoking can cause damage to the cells that line the lungs & change the lung tissue. King Georgeโs left lung was removed by Welsh thoracic surgeon Sir Clement Price Thomas, after a malignant (cancerous) tumor was found in the lung on Sunday, September 23rd, 1951.
Atherosclerosis: A build up of cholesterol plague in the walls of arteries causing obstruction of blood flow. This can cause the arteries to harden & narrow which causes the blood flow to be blocked. Itโs normally what causes heart attacks & strokes. King George developed an Arterial Blockage in his right leg, which then turned to threaten his left leg but was treated with a surgical procedure called Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy in 1949.
Buerger's Disease: A rare disease of the arteries & veins in both the arms & the legs. The blood vessels become inflamed, swell, & can become blocked with blood clots. This eventually damages or destroys skin tissues & can lead to either infection or gangrene.
On Thursday, January 31st, 1952, His Majesty King George traveled to Heathrow Airport to say goodbye to Elizabeth & Phillip before they began their tour in Australia via Kenya. The King was not advised by family, friends, & his doctor to not go to the airport. That night when the King traveled to Sandringham House & went to bed, he had suffered from Coronary Thrombosis in his sleep. He was found dead the next morning.
Coronary Thrombosis: A formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel of the heart caused by a buildup of cholesterol & fats in the artery walls. This blood clot restricts blood flow within the heart & the blood will clot because there is not enough room for it to flow. The causes of CT are high LDL Cholesterol, Smoking, Sedentary Lifestyle, & Hypertension.

Hey yโall. I know I have been completely silent on this account. I have been slowly updating biographies of the family, retagging posts, & trying to organize my account. Also my personal life outside of social media, has been an up & down rollercoaster of emotions these past few months. With being back at my job, currently in the final few weeks of my 2nd summer college semester (I did a summer semester in 2019), slowly rebuilding bridges in relationships with friends & family, & just dealing with my mental health, I have been so freaking exhausted. I have been trying to catch up on my social media but there are times I need to pull away. I will keep working on this account to re-do it, organize it, & have it to where my account makes me super happy. It will be slow steps coming back so if you start noticing small changes, Iโm here. Also I know there is a ton going on in the world & if ANYONE needs me, please know my message & question boxes are always open for support! I love yโall so freaking much! ~ Kendall
The Most Noble Order of the Garter
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Most Senior Order of Knighthood in the British Honors System. This honor outranks The Victoria Cross & The George Cross,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
King Edward III of England in 1348
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
๐ฏ๐ฝ๐ ๐๐๐๐ถ๐๐พ๐๐
The Order of the Garter was created on April 23rd, 1344 & was created to help King Edwardโs claim to the French throne. The Orderย is dedicated to Saint George because he is the Patron Saint of England. The Most Noble Order of the Garter was inspired by the Spanish Order of the Band, which was created in 1330.ย
(Joanot Martorell)
(John of Gaunt Duke of Aquitaine)
(Countess Isabella of Bedford)
The earliest mention of The Most Noble Order of the Garter was mentioned in Tirant to Blanch by Joanot Martorell, a chivalric romance piece of literature (A literary genre of high culture), which was written in Catalan (Now called Valencian Language) in 1490. King Edward IIIโs wardrobe shows that Garter habits first issued in 1348.ย The Middle English poemย โSir Gawain & the Green Knight,โ which was written in the late 14th century, mentions The Most Noble Order of the Garter. In the poem, a girdle is very similar to a garter (in an erotic way). The poem also mentions a different version of the Orderโs motto which is writtenย โCorsed worth cowarddyse and couetyse bope,โ which translates toย โCursed be both cowardice and coveting.โ The author of the poem is argued by scholars but there is a connection between two candidates:ย John of Gaunt Duke of Aquitaine &ย Enguerrand VII de Coucy.ย Enguerrand was married to King Edward IIIโs daughterย Countess Isabella of Bedford & was received the Order of the Garter on their wedding day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(King Richard 1 of England)
Various stories & legends surround the origin ofย The Most Noble Order of the Garter.ย
The most popular story involvesย Catherine (Grandison)ย Montagu Theย Countess of Salisbury. It is said, that the countessโs garter slipped off from her leg, while she was dancing at a court ball that took place inย Calais, France. When the garter slipped from the countessโs leg, courtiers laughed & just watched the scene happen. The King saw what had happen & returned the garter to the Countess exclaimingย โHoni soit qui mal y pense!" Which translates in English toย โShame on him who thinks ill of it!โ This is saying that is written on theย The Most Noble Order of the Garter.ย
The earliest written story dates back to the 1460โฒs. A garter in the mid-14th century, was seen mostly as a item of male attire. Looking back on the story, the garter (that was seen as item of female underclothing), actually has the garter stated as a symbol of a band of knights.
A 2nd story is connected to King Richard I of England. In the 12th century, King Richard was inspired by St. George the Matyr, while he was fighting in the Crusades (A series of religious wars in Western Asia & Europe between the 11th & 17th century). The king tied garters around the legs of his knights, who won the battle. King Edward, recalled the story of King Richard during the 14th century when founding theย The Most Noble Order of the Garter. This story is actually recounted in a letter to the Annual Register (Aย long-established reference work, written and published each year, which records and analyses the year's major events, developments and trends throughout the world) that was written in 1774.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The emblem for The Most Noble Order of the Garter is a garter with a written Middle French Moto that says "Honi soit qui mal y penseโ which means โShame on him who thinks evil of itโ & the motto is written in gold lettering. The motto refers to King Edwardโs claim to the French throne. The use of the garter with the emblem, derived from straps that are used to fasten armor & was chosen because of the tight-knitย โband/bondโ of Edwardโs knightly cause supporters.
Each member would nominate 9 candidates who have the rank of either Earl or higher (3 members), have the rank of Baron or higher (3 members), & have the rank of Knight or higher (3 members). The Sovereign then personally chooses as many nominees that as necessary to fill any vacant spots in the current Order of the Garter. But with the nominees comes a decision. The Sovereign (He or She), are not obliged to choose the nominees who received the most nomination counts. This practice ended in 1860. Today, before receiving the The Most Noble Order of the Garter, an appointment is made with the Sovereign (A.K.A: The Queen) at sole discretion.
(The Right Honorable Clement Attlee 1st Earl of Attlee)
(The Right Honorable Sir Winston Churchill)
During the 18th century, the Sovereign would choose those to serve on The Most Noble Order of the Garter, by the advice of the current Government. In 1946, membership of the United Kingdomโs highest ranking orders of Chivalry (The Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick,ย The Most Noble Order of the Garter, &ย Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle) became a personal choice of the Sovereign once again, with the joint agreement of Prime Minister The Right Honorable Clement Attlee 1st Earl of Attlee & Theย Leader of the Opposition The Right Honorableย Sir Winston Churchill.
The person being appointed to the Order is announced on April 23rd which is known as St. Georgeโs Day. When created, it was said that the original status required that each member of the Order already be a knight (now referred to as a Knight Bachelor). The initial members were knighted the year, the order was created.
Along with the Founder, Ladies Companion of the Garter, & The Original Members of the The Most Noble Order of the Garter, there is another group of members who receive this honor. These members are called Supernumerary Members & they are the members who do not count towards the limit of the 24 Living Family Members/Companions but are in association of the Order. These members can also be referred to Royal Knights & Ladies of the Garter.
(His Majesty King George I of Great Britain)
(His Majesty King George II of Great Britain)
(His Majesty King George III of The United Kingdom)
(His Imperial Majesty Emperor Alexander I of Russia)
These titles were created by His Majesty King George III of The United Kingdom in 1786 but didnโt create the statute of Supernumerary Members until 1805. He created the title of Supernumerary Members, so that his sons didnโt count toward the 24 companion limit. King George created the statute of members, so that any descendant of His Majesty King George II of Great Britain, could not be installed in The Most Noble Order of the Garter as such a member. 8 years later in 1813, during the reign of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Alexander I of Russia, a membership of being a supernumerary member was extended to foreign monarchs. These members were known as Stranger Knights & Ladies of the Garter. The Statute of Supernumerary Members was put back into play in 1831 & extended to all descendants of His Majesty King George I of Great Britain. In 1954, each installation into The Most Noble Order of the Garter, required an enactment of the statute. The statute authorizes the regular admission of Stranger Knights & Ladies of the Garter without further special enactments.
The Degradation of a Member of theย The Most Noble Order of the Garter is a big issue, but can be done by the current Sovereign. This began in the late 15th century.ย
During the 15th century, The Degradation of a Member of the The Most Noble Order of the Garter was a formal ceremony. The Garter King of Arms is accompanied by the rest of the members at St. Georgeโs Chapel. The Garter of Arms reads aloud the reason for degradation as a member climbs up a ladder to remove the former knights banner, crest, helm, & sword into the choir. The other members then lead the degraded knight down the length of the chapel, out the doors, & into the castle ditch.ย
During World War 1, a total of 8 knights were degraded from their positions: 2 Royal Knights & 6 Stranger Knights. These knights were rulers, monarchs, or princes of enemy nations in 1915.
