Astrid felt her heart jump into her throat as she’d walked into the conversation. She almost didn’t want to believe what she’d heard. “Is that true?” she asked him. Her boyfriend wasn’t supposed to lie, right? “Am I a fucking bet?”

The party was in full swing, the air thick with cheap perfume, sweat, and the bass of some overplayed club mix. Winter wasn't even sure whose house this was—just that it was big, expensive, and filled with the exact type of people she tried to avoid.
And yet, here she was, leaning against the kitchen counter, watching a group of guys take turns admiring themselves in the reflection of the microwave door. All sharp jawlines, designer sneakers, and the same rehearsed smirk. The kind of guys who knew they were pretty, who expected the world to bend over backwards just because they flashed a grin.
"Let me guess," she said, tilting her head as one of them caught her staring. "You're about to tell me you’re different from the rest?"
real talk though, all i am asking for is a cute (and potentially angsty) domestic plot surrounding a girl who has to take responsibility for her younger sibling when their parents bail and a perhaps slightly older man who falls for her. due to whatever circumstances, perhaps he doesn’t have anyone in his life either so his whole life becomes her and helping to take care for the sibling. however, nobody said that the way he helps to support their new lil family is legal. just a thought.

Jacey grinned as she listened to him rant, not that he didn’t have a valid point with all his concerns, it was just that in her job she was used to having to make the best of a situation and make do with what you had so being short staffed wasn’t anything new to her. If anything working with children had made her pretty easy going as a person. “Oh come on, it’s not that bad. Look at it this way, you get to stay in a beautiful place that you don’t have to pay for. Free food and my company for the summer.” She nudged his shoulder playfully. “Everything is going to be fine, we’ll figure it out and besides it’s for a good cause remember? This is the only holiday some of these kids will get and it’s a chance for them to get away from things going on at home.”
Asher took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. Jacey had a point, the kids were the reason they were doing this. They were there to give the children a chance to experience something they might not have otherwise. And he couldn't deny that the location was stunning, with a crystal-clear lake and towering trees surrounding the campsite. "Okay, you're right. We'll figure it out," he said, smiling at Jacey. “And if we don’t, well, maybe I’ll just sneak off in the middle of the night and leave you with all of the screaming brats.”

Ivan knew before the blonde even walked in the room that he would be greeted by a snarky comment. The woman was too predictable. Though, nevertheless, a smirk crossed his face. “I am good at this. They don’t usually fight back.” He rolled his eyes, leaning back against the counter with a light groan. Thankfully it had just been his face in the cross fire. Ivan knew the damage a pair of knuckle dusters could do in the wrong hands, or even the right ones for that matter. Had they have gone for the ribs, he may have a fractured bone or two, putting the rest of his contracts in jeopardy. “Someone must have tipped him off, he knew I was coming.” Ivan mused, hissing as she began to work on the stitches. Eyes rolled in response to her quip, a hand then moving to lie flat over his chest. “You wound me, dear..” The pet name was one that he used often for the woman, perhaps even more so than her actual name.
Elsie tried to hide the smirk that tugged at her lips. “I’m not sure I believe you. I mean, I thought the big bad Ivan could handle anything. And now I find out you can only deal with them if they come willingly.” She whistled, shaking her head. Honestly, she still found him impressive. She knew personally the type of people they dealt with and for the male to come away with just a cut and a few grazes was admirable. “ублюдки.” The blonde muttered as she continued to work away at his stitches. A grin broke across her face as he pretended to be hurt by her words. “Don’t act like you have a heart.” She quipped back, pausing briefly as she looked up, winking at him. “и сделано”
plot idea: i was just trying to have a one night stand with a stranger at the club/bar so i lied about my name and entire life when we met. but after we hooked up i kept thinking about you, so we ended up hooking up again another night and i kept lying. and it keeps happening and now i’m in too deep to tell you the truth so i’m just living this fake life whenever i see you but i really like you

The man’s jaw tensed, the apologies falling on deaf ears as he stared her down. “After the attacks they put me in solitary most of the time to keep me safe, prison deaths make for a whole lot of paper work, so I’ve been told. I wrote to you as much as I could. The least you could have done was visit me.” Ivan shook his head, a hand then combing back through his hair as he took a step back away from her, his anger once again rising to the surface. “You knew what you were getting yourself into, I was nothing but honest with you. I told you who I was the very day we met. You should have expected that something like this would have happened eventually.” The thick Russian accent struggled and stumbled around every single word as his blood boiled. “You were my safe haven. You were my light in the dark. You were everything to me, Natalie. Now.. I have nothing. All because you were lonely.” Ivan shook his head once again, his words bitter and unrelenting. The man usually detached himself from such situations, he usually refused to allow himself to feel, but when it came to Natalie.. He couldn’t stop himself.
The tears were falling now. She couldn’t help but to feel sick as she heard Ivan recount his time in prison. The guilt flooded her. It was easy to push it away before. There was a distance between them, not to mention she had convinced herself he wasn’t coming back home to her. “Ivan, I tried to visit you! So many times. They wouldn’t let me see you. They said it was something to do with your paperwork. I just convinced myself that you didn’t want to see me.” Natalie stepped closer to him, wanting to comfort him somehow, to show him she still cared. “That was good enough for me at the time, but these past years have been hard. It made me realise I wanted a safer life - a stable one with someone who would always be around.” The blonde hated herself for what she was saying, but he deserved her honestly. “I’m sorry Ivan.”
Casey felt her eyes on his lip. He could only imagine the state he was in. "Nothing. It's not important -- I just need to leave, and quickly. Say you'll come with me. Please, Corey." The male replied as he begged her. "Yeah, he did, but I'm not taking it anymore. I'm getting far away from here" Casey muttered, wincing as he pressed a hand to his lip.
corey had only been standing on casey’s doorstep less than a minute before the door swung open. her pouty, glossed lips parted, eyes zeroing in on her friend’s bloodied lip. “whoa, what happened?” the response fell from his mouth so fast that her brain could barely keep up. must’ve had something to do with coming off a ten hour shift at the gas station. it sounded like a jumbled mess. all she heard was come with me. “c’mere.” corey breathed, pulling him onto the porch. “your dad did this?”
