@thetheatregal pls make a sequel about the dinner and that night because this was AMAZING I read it twice I loved it so much!!!!!!!!!đ
Okay, imagine the IT kids in the 2010s. Eddie's is gay and with Richie and Sonia knows about it, but she desperately tries to avoid talking about it and pretend it isn't true. And then Love Simon comes out, and Eddie convinces her to see it with him, and it helps her accept Eddie being gay and being with Richie
This took a bit to answer because I am on vacation and wanted to write a little fic about this very thing! Iâm doing it in first person present because thatâs how it is in the book Simon Vs the Homosapien Agenda, which is a terrible title for a book thank god they named the movie Love, Simon.
Located on Ao3
Richie and I lay on the couch watching television. He has an arm around my waist, while my head is in the crook of his neck. I trace my fingers along his arm slowly then sigh softly.
âWhatâs wrong?â Richie asks immediately. I smile at the intuitiveness my boyfriend always has even with the slightest of mood change.
âIâm taking mom to Love, Simon tonight.â I mumble.
âNo fucking way.â Richie uses his other arm to push himself up, so he is leaning above me to scan my face for a lie. âSheâll never agree to go.â
âI meanâŠâ
âThat movie is the funny, heartwarming, adorable, and the gay romantic comedy we both have craved since we were 13. Your dragon of a mother will hate every minute of it. Iâm picturing her face and oh my goddddâŠâ Richie starts laughing which brings my anxiety to a tipping point. I can feel my face heating up faster than a fry cooker.

people hating on joseph quinn for playing eddie munson just because he got the hype HE DESERVES are looking mad goofy rn, lets not talk about how people r randomly making fun of him. this is just unfair to actors tbh, they work their ass off and just because you happen to dislike the way FANS r acting you have to hate on them too?? ESPECIALLY when they have done nothing but do their job?? i dont wanna hear any "oh you're saying this because you love joseph" because this goes to every actor who got hate for no reason :/ its childish.
since⊠thatâs a thing I need now, apparently! :D

Authorâs Note: Look, idk what this is either, ok. Itâs literally fluff with a sorry excuse for a plot. Itâs a mess. And no, I havenât forgotten about the prompts in my inbox. This has been sitting in my Google Docs since mid-March and I finally got around to posting it. Enjoy.

Eddie leaned against his boyfriendâs chest, who wrapped his left hand around his waist, his right one flicking a cigarette. They were sitting on the hood of Richieâs truck, which was parked on the edge of hill looking over Derry. It was mid October, the sky was overcast with dark clouds, and the city lights somehow stood out prominently despite the haze. All in all, it was a beautiful sight.
Eddie sighed softly. âDerry doesnât seem so dangerous from up here.â
Richie took a long drag of his cigarette. Eddie would normally complain about the cancer sticks, but right now he found the smell comforting. He found everything about Richie comforting.
âIt seems so peaceful,â he continued, âNot like the kind of place thatâs home toâŠâ
âIgnorant assholes who canât accept people for who they are?â Richie supplied, tossing the butt of the cigarette onto the ground.
âYou should put it out before you throw it away, it could set the grass on fire,â Eddie chastised, âand I was going to say âhome to a child-eating demonic clownâ, but I guess that works too.â
Richie buried his nose in his hair. âAt least the clown leaves us alone for 27 years. Weâve got to deal with those fuckwads on a daily basis.â
Eddie played with Richieâs slim fingers. âWeâll make it through. Weâve got each other. And the Losers.â
âWe do. But Iâm getting out of here once Iâm eighteen. This town can kiss my ass goodbye.â
Richie always spoke about leaving. Every time heâd have a nightmare, or his parents would just become too much to handle, and heâd crawl through Eddieâs bedroom window, theyâd spend the night lying next to each other on his too small twin bed, shoulders brushing, talking about the future. Richie was clear about his plans. He was going to leave Derry and head to California, become a household name with his Voices and make his mark in the history of show business. Eddie, on the other hand had no idea what he wanted to do, or where he was going to go. Whenever he tried to pictures his life ten years from now, it turned up blank. For some reason, no matter how much he hated her, he didnât want to leave his mother. He didnât want to leave his friends. He didnât want to leave Richie. He didnât want to leave Derry.
Well, he did want to leave Derry, maybe move to a place more accepting, but he didnât want to leave the comfort, the familiarity.
âWhat about you, Spaghetti Man?â
Eddie huffed. âDonât call me that, Rich. And⊠I donât know. Iâll leave too, I guess.â
Richie saw right through his lie, he always did. He nuzzled his nose into his cheek and left a soft kiss there. âWhatâs wrong, love?â
Eddie sank further into his arms. âIâm just⊠Iâm scared, Richie. I donât want to forget, you know? Bev was gone for barely a year and she couldnât even remember all our names. What if once weâre gone we start forgetting? I donât want that to happen. I donât want to lose the memories, the comfort, the familiarity. I donât want to lose the Losers. I donât want to lose you.â
Richie tightened his grip around his waist. âYouâre not going to lose me, Eddie. I promise you that.â
He turned to look at his boyfriend. Even in the dim moonlight, he found nothing but pure conviction and sincerity in his chocolate eyes. âYou really believe that?â
â âCourse I do. How can I forget a cute ass like yours?â He grinned and cupped his butt with one hand.
Eddie rolled his eyes. âThere you go, ruining the moment.â
âWe were having a moment?â He looked genuinely lost.
âYes we were, dipshit. I basically told you how youâre the most important person in the world to me, and you commented on my butt. Iâm not surprised though, youâre pretty predictable.â
Richie ran his thumb across his cheek and smiled fondly. âYouâre the most important person in the world to me, too, Eds. I fucking love you. Even amnesia wonât make me forget you, you can count on that.â He leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on his lips. It was more gentle but just as heartfelt as all the kisses theyâd shared in the three months theyâd been together.
Eddie grabbed his jacket and pulled him in to deepen the kiss, but was interrupted by heavy drops of rain falling on his head all of a sudden. He quickly scrambled off Richieâs lap and got into the car before he got drenched. Richie laughed loudly and slowly slid off the hood. He shrugged off his jacket and threw it onto the backseat. He leaned on his elbows on the door and grinned at Eddie.
âWhat the fuck are you doing, Richie? Donât stand out in the rain, you catch a cold and fall sick.â
He batted his eyelashes seductively. âAnd you can nurse me back to health, Dr. K.â
Eddie frowned. âHell no. Iâm not coming anywhere near that mouth for a week at the least.â
Richie pouted. âWhy you gotta hurt me like this, baby?â
His cheeks turned bright red, Richie knew exactly how flustered that pet name made him. âShut up and get inside, Rich, youâre getting drenched.â
Richie wiggled his eyebrows. âOooh, but you like getting me wet, donât ya, Spaghetti Head?â
Eddie looked over at him. His wet curls were sticking to his forehead and his shirt was clinging to his torso, showing off his muscle definition (or lack thereof). His glasses were covered in droplets, and Eddie had no idea if he could see anything through them.
âYou look like a cartoon. Take your glasses off, dweeb.â
Richie took them off and chucked them into the glove compartment. He squinted at Eddie. âSo are you going to join me or nah?â
âNu-uh, you can destroy your health on your own, thank you very much.â
âItâll be a fever at worst, Eddie, donât be dramatic.â
âHave you ever heard of acid rain? It destroys marble, imagine what it can do to your skin! Not to mention it can enter your system and poison you.â
âThatâs bullshit, Eds. How is it going to enter my system anyway? Itâs not like Iâm drinking it.â
He drowned out Eddieâs response by turning up the radio. Some 50s song was playing. Richie stuck his hand out. âDance with me Eds!â
âDonât call me that! And absolutely not. Thereâs no way Iâm going to fall sick. My mom will have an aneurysm.â
âFuck your mom, Eddie!â Richie paused to reassess his words. âWell, not literally, thatâs my job. What Iâm saying is, it doesnât matter what she thinks. Just let go once in a while.â
Eddie opened his mouth to argue, but clamped it shut as the song changed. Whitney Houstonâs voice rang out into the night. Fuck it, he thought, and grabbed Richieâs hand. Even if he didnât go out, Richie would pass the cold to him, and heâd fall sick anyway.
As soon as he left the car, he was hit a thousand raindrops. Within seconds, he was shivering. âThis was a terrible idea.â
Richie chuckled and wrapped his arms around the smaller boy. âDonât worry, bug, Iâll keep you warm with my extreme hotness.â
âOh boy, Iâm so hot right now,â Eddie deadpanned. âYou said you wanted to dance?â
Richie grabbed his hands and dragged him to a clearing a few feet away. He spun him around to the beats of the song. Eddie tried to act like he wasnât enjoying it, but the broad smile on his face gave him away. Richie was a terrible dancer, he stumbled over his own limbs, and the rain made him even more unsteady.
The song changed to Dancing Queen, and Eddie could barely contain his squeal. âI love this song!â
Richie laughed. âI know you do, Eds! Câmon, show me your moves, Dancing Queen!â
Eddie moved and jumped around, shouting the lyrics on the top of his lungs, so glad nobody could hear them out there. âYOU ARE THE DANCING QUEEN, YOUNG AND SWEET, ONLY SEVENTEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!â
Richie picked him up and spun him around in his arms. Eddie laughed loudly and clutched his shoulders. âPut me down, Richie!â
Richie shook his head and clutched his thighs. Eddie kicked the air in an effort to get his boyfriend to let go, but he only tightened his grip.
âDonât make me drop you, Eds, cause I will!â
Eddie huffed and gave up. Slowly, Richie set him down and wrapped his arms around his waist.
âI meant it, Eds.â
âWhat?â
âIâm never going to forget you. Itâs not going to happen.â
Eddie grabbed his face and stroked his cheek. He was so in love with the boy in front of him. âI wonât forget you either. Youâre my everything.â
He stood on his toes and planted a soft, firm kiss on his lips. Their mouths fit together like puzzle pieces. They were meant to be, nothing would ever change that.
Richie ran his thumb over his lower lip, coaxing it open, and sliding his tongue inside. Their mouths moved together in perfect unison. There, in that moment, in the rain, on a cliff overlooking the town of Derry, they were one.
They continued making out in the rain with the radio playing in the background, forgetting about everything else in the world.
They broke apart for air, resting their foreheads together.
âCome with me,â whispered Richie.
âWhat?â
âCome with me to Cali. When weâre old enough. I want you to.â
Suddenly, that blank space started to form an image. He could picture his life ten years from now. It involved a young man with wild, curly black hair, warm eyes and freckles, pale skin and plump pink lips. It involves a closet full of pastel polo t-shirts and ridiculous Hawaiian print shirts, with the occasional neon windbreaker. It involved The Cure playing in the kitchen as they made breakfast together. It involved falling in Richieâs lanky arms every night and waking up to his kisses every morning. It involved comfort and familiarity, but above all, it involved love and happiness, and Eddie didnât want anything else.
âOkay.â
Eddie didnât know what the future held for him. In some hours he could be sick, in some weeks he could be exhausted, in some months he could be graduating, and in some years he could be fighting a demonic clown. He didnât know what would happen. But he did know this. No matter what the future held for him, Richie Tozier would be a part of it. For better or for worse.
