I need people to stop glorifying the 4B movement in Korea, from a Western (white) perspective. Stop it. If you are blissfully unaware of this (having not been on TikTok) - in theory, it makes sense. No sex with men, no dating men, no child rearing with men, and no marriage with men. But. BUT. Feminists in Korea are problematic AF. I know this from both personal experience (having been on the receiving end of their ire online) and everything I've read about them, in Korean. I see all these white TikTokers (and even some in the Korean diaspora) fawning over how "we" in the US need this and, no. If your feminism is transphobic, hates gay men, hates men in general, that's not the feminism I'd endorse. Why is Korean feminism transphobic? In 2020, Korean feminists ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNED AGAINST a woman who was accepted to Sookmyung University. An all womens' university. But she was a woman, you say. What could be their problem? According to Korean feminists, they didn't want a "man" in their space. Because she is a trans woman. This is not unusual for Korean feminists. Having lived there for 5 years, to some extent, I understand their anger against misogyny. But if you are truly against the toxic patriarchy that exists in Korea, you must also help dismantle military conscription because that is where a lot of men become radicalized, bullied, etc etc and "grow up" to be the most toxic form of men seen on this earth. But Korean feminists don't give AF about that and in fact, I've read a lot of them express that it's good for men to suffer. Guess what? That view is internalized misogyny and toxic patriarchy, too. And I don't want to hear it about the movement being so "young". Korean women have stepped up to the plate before in our history. We are capable of better than this fucking nonsense. It's a bunch of transphobic, gay hating radicals that have hijacked what was supposed to be about social justice. WOMAD (link is to the Wikipedia article, not their site) and Megalia are the two sites they stem from. It is the most toxic group of people I've ever had the displeasure to encounter online. Any form of criticism is, at best, ignored and worst - I've been "called out" for being Korean-American, and therefore, to "butt out" of "Korean issues". Amongst other bullying I've personally received. And yes, not just on forums but on public articles that I've commented on.

I know it's a catchy title and it appeals in theory but please, please do not glorify these transphobes and TERFs. They don't deserve your attention.

Let explain my beautiful summer child

The reason why I made the black reader specifically black is that there should be more representation in fanfiction, especially X reader fanfiction or Y/N fanfiction. In many stories that I read, the reader is often portrayed as white or female, even when the author states that the reader doesn't have a race or doesn't have a specified gender. They automatically use she/her pronouns or describe the reader as having "pale white skin," even when the author has stated that the reader doesn't have a race or it's supposed to be "you" X reader. What if you don't have pale white skin? What if you're a black girl? For example, in another fic where they say, "he ran his fingers through her straight black hair," a black girl typically doesn't have straight black hair.

There are also many issues with the portrayal of blushing; black people don't blush, and if they are blushing, they're probably choking to death. It's not like I'm just making the reader specifically black; the black reader can be seen as Caribbean, Blasian, Nigerian, or your everyday New Yorker. The reader could be anybody—that's the whole point, right? Why do some authors describe the reader as female when the person reading it is male? Why do they get to talk about the reader's legs as if they're white when the reader could be of any other race? There are specific tags for specific readers. I include male and female reader tags, as well as non-binary reader tags, because there are people who read my work from different genders. That's why I use they/them pronouns in my writing. If I'm going to use she/her pronouns, then I make sure to indicate that in the reader's description at the bottom.

It's also really hard to find some black reader fanfiction that you can relate to or find characters you like who could be paired with a black reader. Black boys should be allowed to be represented in these works, and even if you're of a different race, you can still write about these readers—just don't be insensitive. I wanted to do this for the black community but also for myself. Maybe this will happen for you. It doesn't defeat the purpose; it just makes more people feel seen. You can be someone of another race and still enjoy my work—it's all about perspective. Plus, I'm getting real tired of reading fics where the creator writes, "the sun radiated off her pale skin," obviously referring to a dark-skinned girl, yet they still put X reader in the tag. Maybe I just walked myself into this.

Guys i was testing something out for fun AND WHEN I TELL YOU!!!! IT GOT ME RIGHT INTO THE VOID STATE WITHIN 2 FRICKINF MINUTES!

First of all, just tell yourself that whenever you intend to enter the void state, you ALWAYS do. So nothing matters because you KNOW you will end up in the void state really quickly.

Picture something in your mind. Anything. I was picturing glitter. Now focus on NOTHING else but that picture in your mind. It doesn’t have to be vivid but just focus on it. Naturally your mind might morph that picture into something else, don’t resist it, just let it happen and focus on whatever your mind shows you. Do this whilst affirming “I am in the void state” or whatever makes you feel comfortable.

THEN BOOM. Void state. Like woah that was so quick it was genuinely hilarious. For a sec i said everything is pink then i saw it turning pink then i panicked and everything went black again and i could feel my body again. But woah i mean it’s nothing special since i’m a void master anyway but that was fun. And no, I was not sleepy or drowsy at all.

wild opinion i know people will hate me for: i strongly dislike alfred pennyworth. i know what you’re thinking, “how could you hate him! alfred does no wrong!!!”

(loud incorrect buzzer) WRONG. omg, alfred can only do wrong in my mind. he is such a fucking enabler and then he wants to play devils advocate. recently, before starting ‘what the future holds’ i reread robin 1993—specifically tim’s birthday arc.

if you don’t know what that is i’ll tell you. on tim’s sixteenth someone delivers a package which is a holographic message from a future-alfred essentially telling him someone in the batfam is, like, evil, and trusting him to figure it out. eventually it’s revealed that the message was a test, part of bruce’s training, and ‘future’ alfred was actually just current alfred. it was a really good read, i believe it was issues #116-120.

point is, alfred WILLING sided with bruce on that shit. alfred was not held at gun point, his life was not under any threat, he was asked to assist and he. did. that. shit.

and after he had the audacity to be apologetic! ‘i’m so sorry master tim’ like no tf ur not???? like u did this, you allowed him to feel like everything was HIS responsibility and like he couldn’t trust anyone. which is just so fucked up on another level. he watched tim isolate himself and beat himself up over trying to solve this and he?? just?? let?? it?? happen???

and some how he can do no wrong?????

when tim first became robin, who gave him the suit? i’m pretty sure it was alfred. yes, tim was a relentless little kid—but that’s just that. he was a fucking kid, no older than thirteen. alfred gave him the suit. sure, it was to save bruce, but why did it have to be him? why couldn’t he call dick or superman or, hell, go out there himself? why’d it have to be the nosy ass neighbor?

also when bruce and dick used to beat the shit out of each other alfred didn’t do anything. he lowkey just let it happen. like how much is bruce paying bro for him to let that slide?

ALSO ALSO i would love someone to correct me on this, PLEASE tell me i’m wrong, but wasn’t alfred the one who put up the good soldier memorial? everyone hates on bruce (who, in a lot of ways, is a bad father) for that memorial being up but it was alfred. and i get he was but jason wasn’t just robin, he was so much more. and most importantly, he was a son. i know things were rocky for him and bruce but, god, that’s his son! like what the genuine fuck, yk?

and maybe this is only in some iterations but alfred literally influenced bruce to train to be a vigilante. he trained him when he was young, after his parents deaths. and yes, he was another one of those relentless kids, but there were things alfred could’ve tried to stop him from doing this.

what i’m trying to say is, im so fucking tired of this ‘saint alfred’ BS. he’s in the wrong! maybe not all of the time but a lot of the time. and i don’t know if that ‘jason loves alfred the most!’ thing is fanon or canon but either way i hate it. if you’re going to make bruce a bad dad, if you’re making jason and bruce’s relationship rocky, then alfred can’t be the exception. he should be held accountable as much as bruce.

like, if jason loved alfred so much and saw him as a grandfather, why isn’t he pissed at alfred for not killing the joker. sure he wanted bruce to do it but after bruce didn’t, why didn’t alfred take it into his own hands? alfred has no problems with killing people who deserve it. he was a soldier for crying out loud!

if jason and alfred are as close as fanon claims then jason should be beefing with alfred as much as he does with bruce for not avenging him.

okay, this turned into a rant about jason and alfred’s annoying fanon relationship but you get my point.

i don’t hate alfred, i hate fanon alfred and i hate this fandom and how they love to hold bruce accountable for wrongs that lowkey could be alfred’s fault too. and i also hate that’s it’s so hard to dislike alfred because people will yell at you for it. in my fics i try to keep him as out of it as i can because god forbid i make him how he is in the comics.

alfred is a flawed character—just like bruce and jason and tim and dick and damian and duke—and that’s okay! it’s better when they’re not so one dimensional, it makes them way more interesting as a character and also allows fanon to create perfect character development over the span of long ass fics that i love to binge.
