Alrighty at long last fake skin line lore. Yay! Heads up this draws a lot from the German bedtime stories I was raised on, especially the brothers Grimm, and thus draws a lot from the kind of religious undertones and general peculiarities those have. It’s also super rough and more outline-y than anything. If anything is confusing lmk
Original post:
Once upon a time there was a land with many holy times. During holy times people ought to refrain from unholy activities; partaking of drink, violence, and other bestial urges. One year the king and queen broke the ‘fast’ on these detail urges during the holy times. And the angel Kayle descended and cursed them, saying that if they could not resist temptation to act like animals for even a week than their child wouldn’t be able to resist them for a day in her life.
Nine months later, the princess Briar is born cursed to be a violent bloodthirsty beast. Luckily, her fairy godmother Morgana gives her a pillory that allows her to be in human form and mostly normal. When she grows up, she goes adventuring to try and break the curse entirely so she can get married.
A similar situation played out in the neighboring kingdom except a few months earlier, when their monarchs broke the fast on gluttony.
She has three trials where she’s tempted to do something verboten and resists all three times, at some point acquiring a beastly friend to help her do this that’s wearing a weird torn cloak. At the end of the trials, she is rewarded with a broken curse and the beastly friend turning back into his true form as a prince of the neighboring kingdom, where they go and prove his identity as Prince Talon with the torn cloak he’s been wearing.
They get married and stay friends till the end of their days, happily ever after.
Not the cartwheel post.
And here we come to the end of our little intro into this story. From here on out it’s basically gonna be little episodes of whatever I find funny and fun to draw. I hope y’all enjoy Kitty-she has consumed like thirty sketchbook pages so far and shows no sign of slowing down lol.
happy international women’s day!!!
A little guide I made for the rough coloration and designs for these three before I started working on the last Noxian Christmas comic. I never realized how much gray and brown were in all their palettes until I started cross referencing comics, splash arts, and models to figure out which shades to use.
Noted. Thank you!
Completely serious question to any warhammer 40k fans out there in the ether: could a space marine physically do a cartwheel? Asking for making a little fan comic reasons
Thanks! Moira was a ton of fun to draw-tho I’ll admit I guessed on the pants and height a little.
@moociaoafterdark I wasn’t sure if you were thinking a reblog or an @ but here ya go. Sorry about the eraser smudges! Hope things are still readable.
Kitty acting like she herself is not a war criminal (albeit very, very retired)…but to be completely fair; she was specifically very against the enslavement bit. When she found herself married to an enslaving war criminal, she got herself a nice little annulment and a black widow reputation.
foaming at the mouth thinking about talon being illiterate again.. ik I've talked about it before but him being a shit reader or unable to is rather important to me. it's just so damn isolating.
I know it's not technically canon but I think about how tal's original writer thought he was illiterate and Marcus taught him symbols to use as a secret code and God how awful is that yk?? Marcus would rather communicate via a secret code rather than have talon learn to read bc keeping talon tethered and naive is in his best interest. it's so AWFUL. also I think Marcus would be a terrible teacher but that's an aside.
from an inside angle, having a secret code with your 'father' would probably make talon feel special, but he's still just being manipulated, it's kinda brutal. and I think talons hatred for being bad at stuff would ALSO make it harder to learn to read it's just heartbreaking.
I think on first glance using 'naive' is a weird word for him bc talon has experienced The Horrors, but being illiterate keeps him stuck in place and isolated and he doesn't even know it.
Doing a little series of comics focused on Briar, Talon, and Katarina around the winter holidays. This occurs in kind of the aftermath of a fic I wrote where a) Kat and Talon made up post Katarina comic, and b) Briar managed to make friends with both of them. Thus, holiday magic. This is one of them .
yeah
tell him seraphine
A light sampler of the many many color palettes of Talon du Couteau. Personally my favs are black hair with blue eyes or brown with yellow.
To a certain extent I get why the eyes are different-small and hard to see the exact color of-but why can’t they get this man a consistent hair color?
20, she/her | I like blue and I draw art traditionally and post it here sometimes
