Hey, D&D Players!

Hey, D&D Players!

A Facebook acquaintance of mine is working on her PhD, which involves studying the experiences of people – and particularly women – who play Dungeons and Dragons. (Yeah, she’s living the dream.) As part of her research, she’s passing around three surveys.

1. Main survey (open to all D&D players; takes about 10 minutes tops)

2. This survey asks people about their characters - very quick

3. Finally, this survey is aimed at non D&D players.

Please pass these around – let’s help this fellow nerd get a robust dataset!  (2/11/20)

@randomitemdrop, @prokopetz, @dungeonqueering, @battlecrazed-axe-mage, @yourplayersaidwhat, would you mind signal-boosting?

painting a gay bar as a safe place for straight girls avoiding straight men is wild to me bc ideally it would be a safe place from the straights for gay ppl but we can’t have anything can we

How about Charlie Cox’s depiction of DareDevil? He does some interresting body language code switching between the meek and innofensive Matt Murdock and the bulky and threatening vigilante. I think it’d be fascinating to see your take on it as a single still image.

I’ve drawn him twice lol

But keep suggesting that’s great!

Why are you against drug legalization?

Drug usage has a purely negative impact on our society. It has no benefits, and this supposedly victimless crime has a body count climbing to epidemic levels. Progressives don’t want to address it because it muddies the pro-drug rhetoric and conservatives don’t address it because they don’t want to admit it’s white neighborhoods being torn apart by drugs now.

I’ve only heard barely coherent hypotheticals as to how legalization could maybe possibly potentially prevent addiction, but I don’t find any of it convincing. Addicts don’t refuse to seek help because they’re sensitive about the stigma (that kind of uwu bullshit is one thing I hate about liberals). They don’t seek help because they’re addicts. Making drugs easier and less risky to access will not somehow magically make addicts do less drugs, as we do not live in opposite land.
