OHHHH I have so much to say about this Actuslly

I think their trio dynamic is so unique in bsd because all of them have personal histories regarding Something (mushi's is mystery novels, poe's is ranpo, and ranpo's is his ability) and they also have strengths which force each other face these traumas head-on. poe is a mystery novel writer, and he actively encouraged mushi to overcome his fear of writing. poe had been a social recluse for 6 years, and meeting ranpo again helped him to break out of his shell little by little and focus more on the things & people around him.

ranpo prides himself on his ultra deduction, and mushi is an "infallible detective killer" whose ability counteracts that. by humbling ranpo, he forced him to come to terms with the truth that he's not an ability user, but this also strengthened his resolve to beat mushi.

overall, this is basically why i think the perfect crime trio are so great for each other. their backgrounds fit with each other's like pieces of a puzzle, so they kind of neutralise each other in a way. so i think thats very neat

The saddest thing about most characters in bsd is their mentality.

Akutagawa for example, Akutagawa is an incredibly tragic character, numerous amounts of traumatic events have happened to him, but still those aren’t the saddest things about him.

Akutagawa isn’t a sad character because he was abused or that he has a lung disease, it’s because of his views. Akutagawa finds no meaning in life, he’s only still alive because he was given a goal and he needs to achieve it. He likely wouldn’t be alive if Dazai didn’t come along.

Almost every character in bsd is suicidal in some way, Chuuya and Kunikida will sacrifice themselves for others sometimes without thinking of a different solution, Akutagawa and Poe don’t see meaning in life unless there’s something for them to look for, Atsushi doesn’t bother in thinking of a different solution and acts on impulsive thinking. Dazai is simply the only one who makes attempts on their life.

All of these stem from world views, Chuuya believes he has to save others as it is what he was made for, Kunikida thinks that others should live more than he should, Akutagawa views life as nothing but hell and finds it pointless to suffer unless he gays to obtain something, Poe believes he doesn’t have a right to live unless he’s the best at what he does, and Atsushi thinks of himself as worthless and doesn’t believe he deserves to live.

These all weren’t because of events that happened to the characters but simply because of how they think.

Day 1 birthday

Happy birthday Ritsu

I made some shou concepts for a fic I’m hopefully gonna finish. I wrote one chapter of it like a few months ago but I may need to rewrite it. I have a bunch of scenes partially written in my notes but that’s about it.

It starts right when the anime ends. The middle design has that odd flannel because it’s from Teru. You can also tell that I am absolutely milking the fact that Shou canonically has curly hair. That’s probably because I have curly hair, to be fair it’s not as curly as how I drew his, but still. Every design is in order but I haven’t had his last design so don’t worry he’s not gonna end up insane at the end. It’s a “it gets worse before it gets better” type of thing.
