Okay So Two Things Happened.

Okay so I spent at least 30 minutes rambling about my favorite song of all time on Reddit this morning. I’m sharing this with you guys because why not.

My favorite song is Patchwork Staccato by Toa feat. Hatsune Miku. It’s been my favorite since early 2022.

Miku’s tuning sounds so innocent and sad, the way the instrumental builds gives me chills, and I love the repetition in the lyrics, which is normally a pet peeve of mine but here it works cause it actually adds weight to the meaning.

I like the art in the official upload. Miku looks so pretty in a white dress and it looks like a colored pencil style.

Also I know it has little to do with the official song but I adore the choreography in the project diva music video and the one in the concert. I can lowkey see someone teaching a similar choreography in a dance class like ballet or lyrical

But back to the song, the middle part in the bridge with the high doo doo doos would sound absolutely horrible if the tuning couldn’t pull it off. But Toa DID pull it off and it sounds soft but not screechy which is difficult to do.

Speaking of the tuning Miku’s breathes and her little “ahem” are so adorable and fit in so well

Also with the lyrics, as someone who is learning Japanese but doesn’t understand most of this song, they sound so pleasing to listen to. It’s a similar feeling to hearing clever word choice or rhyme in an English song. Part of it has to do with the actual good repetition as mentioned earlier, but also I just like the way the words are pronounced, it sounds nice.

But also with the lyrics and their meaning, while I can’t relate to the song exactly (the only unrequited love I’ve ever felt that actually hurt was for fictional characters lol) I can still sympathize with the singer. Unable to get rid of your feelings for someone who never loved you back, and when you finally do questioning if you can ever be happy again is so melancholy and heartbreaking I love it. It’s even more depressing when you consider that this song is from the perspective of a young girl (going off of the art and the fact Miku is used, unless Toa used this song to vent, which is even more sad), probably in love for the first time. It’s the type of realistic lyrics and meaning I like in great Vocaloid tracks and why I love them so much.

Also I know I already brought up the song’s buildup but it’s one of the best parts. The way it starts quite with a solo Miku, then they add a piano and a few robotic toy sounds, and then by the end you have tons of vocal harmonies and violins and it sounds so full and sweeping AAAAA I LOVE IT.

I think I’ll stop here before I keep writing until the end of time. I know this isn’t structured well but I just had to share this.

Also Toa used random sounds in his songs before Haraguchi Sasuke made it cool (no offense to him, just a common similarity I found in both works).

I drew a Zombie Qiqi to get in the mood. She’s technically Genshintober day 31 but I have 8 pieces I still need to finish. Long story short, adult life sucks cause it keeps you from doing stuff you like. I will finish the others for this challenge later.

Also for Halloween, I decided to go as Martlet and I somehow roped in my bf into being Papyrus with me because I’m a Papylet shipper :)

Ironically enough, I think I’m gonna wait to do this quest. Venti’s English VA said she may be in the game soon, and there’s no primogems waiting if you do the quest early, so there’s no f2p reason not to wait either.

Still, the fact that Venti and Mondstadt are back at all should be celebrated :)

Anyway, back to Fontaine where they somehow got every Male character from Natlan to go on Vacation lol

I know he’s sadly probably not gonna have an English Voice, which sucks cause Erika is probably my favorite voice actress in the game, but still. He has returned.

For day 9 of Shipbruary, I drew some Teto x Piko:

Dumdum Teto gives me the will to live

The idea of these two always fascinated me. Teto being a joke robot turned one of the best vocal-synths ever, and a professional voicebank with a lot of range stuck in 2010. The angst and fluff potential is endless

Also shoutout to @vampire-gummys for keeping this ship afloat. I hope her back is alright for carrying it.

Guys, I messed up. I messed up real bad.

So I decided to listen to two musicals for the first time this week.

The first musical is an underrated masterpiece with a beautiful story and amazing comedy and while the songs aren’t the greatest songs I’ve heard in a musical, they’re still really REALLY great. It’s also a really good parody on top of that. Like this is legitimately one of my favorite musicals now, 9.8/10

The second is a cast album that doesn’t have a show yet and while it isn’t the greatest musical in the world, it was still a pretty good time and I have a ton of respect for the creator. It was a solid 7/10 cast album

However, this is where we run into an issue.

The second musical is INSANELY popular. Like Hamilton-level popular. There are thousands of fics, fanarts, animatics, covers, the whole shebang.

The first musical while it had a decent size fanbase at one point, and a lot of people still like it, the hype has completely died down and it gets grouped together with a lot of musicals made by the same group. There’s very little fanart, there’s barely anything on Tumblr, there’s less than 50 fics, and nobody mentions it anymore.

GUESS WHICH ONE MY BRAIN DECIDED TO HYPER-FIXATE ON?!

And I missed out on the hype cause I was 8 when it came out.

Crap.

I drew Fukase and Luka together because they have close birthdays. Happy birthday to the red and pink robots

I made this like a month ago when the Nintendo direct dropped. I had yet to actually upload it
