I Just Realized That Just Like Last Year I Was Reading HP Fanfics Again

The last of my NJ headcanons. Now let it be known that there will probably be more in the future, considering he is my favorite, HOWEVER this is all I have for now lol.

New Jersey-

Normally is presenting more as Central Jersey, his tics are from North and South trying to speak at the same time

Because of slightly demonic magic, Jersey is fractured like how his state is, there’s North, South, and Central, they can all split into their own persons with North looking the same, but not for too long

While Jersey has used many names during his life, the one his mothers gave him is the only few actually know, Jonah Eriksson Bakker, Eriksson being his Mother’s last name and Bakker his Ma’s

Despite it being hundreds of years, he still isn’t used to English, words never come out quite right, there’s almost always something just slightly missed pronounced even when taking his accent into account

If he’s upset or tired he has a pretty heavy lisp, which along with his already heavy accent when feeling any emotion makes him pretty impossible to understand, the only ones that do are York, Del, and surprisingly Penn

Likes to call New York ‘Yorkie’ Vermont ‘Monty’ Kentucky ‘Ken’ (he’s the only one allowed too) California ‘Westie’ Florida ‘Dia’ ‘Sunshine’ or ‘Flo Rida’ and says Texas like how a Russian would (he has no idea why he started to he just did one day)

The Jersey Devil is real, Jerseys met it multiple times in his life, sometimes they exist in the same space in the Pine Barrens, but most times they don’t

Jersey has a Jersey Devil plush, had it since he was a young child, it’s his prized possession along with one of Connie’s books from the 1850s that he ‘borrowed’ 

When he was younger, Jersey would go to Devil’s Tree to read, it's how he learn the hard way, that his not father father is not the only demon that resides in NJ

In contrast to York, Jersey LOVES drop towers, thinks that they are the second best theme park flat ride to ever exist (the first are those super scramblers that flip while spinning)

Threw his shoe at York so much that Penn ended up buying him sandals as a joke, a joke that Jersey didn’t understand until YEARS later, he still loves and uses those sandals, his aim is unmatched when it comes to hitting York

Would get hit by Yorkie every time he said the R word (which he still doesn't fully believe is a slur but whatever Yorkie), this was specifically during the 2000s

Has brought every State to Action Park at least once when it was still open, it’s best not to question how he convinced Alaska and Hawaii or literally any other State, it’s just best not too

Jersey has a little devil that could in theory be related to the Jersey Devil, it's name is Impy

NJ is strangely really good with hair. And that goes for literally every hair type. Unruly and ruined by bleach like Florida’s? Easy. Wavy and incredibly messy like Texas’s? No problem. Louisiana on the verge of tears cuz his curly ass mess of hair got tangled in the humidity of the summertime and he’s only hurting himself more by trying to brush it? No problemo, NJ will gently and delicately Dutch braid it.

NJ and Loui. Theres something between them. Idk what it is. But there’s something. Potential parental stuff perhaps. But something.

NJ can and will adopt any younger state that gives off "yeah I have parental issues" vibes

This man is a HUGE dog person :]

He has a Doberman, named Murrie, and a Boxer named Mar. He loves them and they love him.

Listen I ain’t gonna say that pollution is a problem, but I am going to say that we got so FUCKED by the Canadian wild fires, like it was real bad air and stuff. So when in doubt, blame Canada (or the West when that’s all on fire, seriously it allll just comes over here).

Wasn’t alive but 2001 sucked for like everyone duh, the sad thing is that a lot of people who died were from NJ, since a ton of people commute to NY. Obvi a ton more New Yorkens died that day but a shit ton of Jersians did as well….so you know…something something angst.

Also yes the forest one totally counts as angst, the woods aren’t obviously dangerous here since we only have Forest Puppies™️ and like foxes and coyotes, but lemme tell ya, them woods not only definitely haunted but there is probably people doing the big illegals out there. Like moonshiners or…idk cultests probably, that’s also ignoring the actually legal hunting lol.

Idk if this counts as angst, but here’s a random hc: So like- NJ loves plants and nature and all that, so he also knows what herbs and weeds are good and that bring good health and could even help infected wounds. He also found this out from the amount of times he fcked off into the woods all alone and got hurt somehow.

……Okay so. I feel like he definitely watched like. Y’know. All the stuff that happened in 2001, as well as other things. He watched his brother and his brother’s city suffer. He wanted to tear his eyes away. But he couldn’t. He wishes he could’ve.

He definitely has some breathing issues. I’ve. I’ve decided that based off the pollution stereotypes.

Oooooo yess, Texas was a fun one to think about because I had to think like a southerner slightly, and I live in Jersey lol (granted Jersey gets pretty southern if you go too far but I don't live there)

Texas-

Used to hunt a lot, however with the Table becoming slightly more important in the 2020s he had to slow it down significantly

Has a massive ranch, horses, cattle, chickens, you name it, Texas probably has it

Would actually kill someone (but specifically Cali) if they took his hat, there is no way he is letting Austin be in control for that long

His wires are slightly crossed, hence Austin or literally any of his cities (though honestly the cities being personified depends on the state, Texas has researched this before and it’s not worth asking why, you won’t get an answer)

Guns lol

Will occasionally just cough up oil, it’s not common but it is annoying

He’s not gay, at all, what so ever, he’s just a very straight cowboy livin his life (guess the lie here, hint: he is for sure livin his life and is a cowboy)

He doesn’t hate Oklahomo, he just wishes the absolute best for him and the absolute best is dying

Loves cooking as much as he does hunting, which is a lot, he’ll do it whenever he wants, for basically no reason, it’s a fun hobby for him

Has dinner every other Sunday with Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries, Cali, Arizona, and NM will also join from time to time

He likes history a lot more than people realize, he has to be good at it to say that it’s all fake duh

Hates snow, never wants it ever again, the one time he got snow he doesn’t remember BECAUSE HE BASICALLY DIED MAINE (he’s only slightly dramatic, he didn’t die but it sure did feel like it)

Made Jersey teach him how to make “proper pizza” since he taught him how to make a brisket

He’s tall, like 6’3 tall, he could technically go taller but 6’3 doesn’t make him feel like he’s stretching his skin

If he’s exhausted then he won’t understand a lick of English, he doesn’t get that tired often but when he does it’s turned into a game to see who can get him to bed first (It’s normally Alabama or Oklahomo- I mean homa, Oklahoma)

Went back to high school in the 2000s, an experience he doesn’t know if he regrets or wants to study under a microscope

Has three dogs, they are his babies along with his horses, he fought long and hard to convince Gov to let him have them at the StateHouse even with the no pets rule that like 3 people didn’t follow at the time

Loves Football, obviously, Sunday Football is spent outside with barbeque and the entire south, even if their team isn’t playing

Doesn’t actually hate Cali, he thinks that he’s an idiot and never knows when to shut up but he can admire how smart he actually is even if Texas would never say it out loud, and Austin, Austin was a big reason

Why of course good sir, I have way too much fun writing and thinking about these.

New York-

Has grandparents, it’s best you don’t question how they are still alive

Theater kid, has seen Hamilton and Wicked more times than he can count

Always moving, normally just tapping his foot or tapping his fingers, not nearly as bad as NJ and holds this over his head

“I have better ADHD than you do” has been said multiple times by him to NJ

Likes to hike, doesn’t get a chance to do it often but when he can he does, not alone though, never alone

Met Mass for the first time when he was changed from New Amsterdam to New York

Had a harder time understanding certain accents when he was younger, not as bad as NJ but it still caused a problem for a while

Knows Italian and Spanish, he can still understand and write in Dutch but can’t properly speak it

Used to call Jersey ‘Joisey’ in the early 2000s, had to stop or else they would have gone to war

Currently calls Jersey ‘Jerz’ or ‘Taffy’, occasionally calls him ‘Trent’ but that normally ends with a shoe to the head

Likes to call Cali ‘B’ and ‘Nia’

Will occasionally call Florida ‘Disney’ and ‘Swampy’

He does own a gun but prefers a knife

During 2020 he did cooking videos and ‘how to acquire *blank item*’ videos, would sometimes be joined by Vermont and Maine

New Hampshire is his cousin and his brother depending on the situation 

While he denies it, he was the one who created the New state group chat

 He likes both Football and Hockey equally, no one ever believes him though

Takes the best photos of himself ever but most of them are like 2008 cringe types of photos

He’s not scared of heights but he HATES drop towers, any and all he will refuse to go on, he will not hesitate to bite if you try

I probably could have done more but honestly I think this is good, simple but effective. I'll probably end up changing out the crown for something else later on but I think it works for now. I actually really like the design, now I have an excuse to draw Nevada and New Jersey together LOL
